- In Walipur Kalan ( Dist. Ludhiana, Punjab), the stinking, toxic, dark waters of polluted Buddha Nullah meet the comparatively cleaner waters of Sutlej river.
Several villagers are suffering from deadly diseases. Dharampreet was one of them. We interviewed him few weeks ago. He died this week. Here’s an interview with him. Begging for all of us to wake up and be responsible. Before it’s too late
As per Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) monitoring data for Budha Nallah from April to June 2019, the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) was recorded from 65 to 2,112 mg/l. It should not be more than 30 mg/l.
Entire population in Malwa region of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan is dependent on Satluj River as a source of drinking water and irrigation. In Punjab, Water Pollution is responsile for hundreds of deaths every year.
