Main reason for that is because the F50 has five valves per cylinder

We all know that the true sound of a car never really comes across on video, it´s always a LOT more impressive in person. This car sounds so fucking amazing on video, I can´t even imagine what it must be like to experience this in the car.
I never really appreciated the F50 when it first came out, I think it suffered from the iconic F40 just being too.. well, iconic. But it is a driver´s car dream.

Agreed, and this is exactly the reason why I will always hate EV's, no matter how fast they get it will never be able to provide this type of satisfaction, hearing the engine roar, the feeling of the engine rumbling whilst you shift through the gears, a thing of beauty.
It IS truly more impressive in person and in the driver's seat. It was quite fulfilling to be involved with one for a time. 👍
@@SherLock55 im all up for being enviromental friendly but yes, EV cars, even if we get fast and really good looking ones like rimac or pininfarina battista, a car with no sound, no rumble, no gear changing, no reving, no exhaust flames, no induction noises... its unfortunately lifeless. it is really just a good looking and really fast RC car, as much as i think this comparisson is also too undermining, its oddly accurate. for daily civilian and urban cars they are absolutely awesome, the reliability and confort that they can provide once the tech is fully properly developed is amzing, specially for public transport or cargo delivery, but sports cars and racecars? yeah no, it doesnt even have a 1/3 of the excitement. cant we have hydrogen based ICE or some sort of clean fuel? there were dozens of projects about them but were all silenced by the oil companies, now that they will lose their grip on the market, cant we just bring those back and adapt the older engines to them? i bet some old cars might even become better witha more efficient and clean fuel.

If I was a millionaire then I would buy the F50 and use it as a daily driver. I wouldn't care what the maintenance cost or the fuel cost would be, I just want to hear that sound and feel that special feeling of driving a Ferrari V12 supercar every day. I love the F50, it's a dream car.

I was a passenger in one of these in 1996 on a public road in Southern California driven by Max Papis. It was incredible. I met F1 legend Phil Hill at the same event.

Ok, this beast sounds even more brutal than an early Lamborghini Countach. Amazing. Maybe the best sounding street legal Ferrari ever. I remember, the F50 wasn´t considered as spectacular as his predecessor F40, as it lacked the sheer turbo punch. But obviously the reception changed now, which is reasonable. The last Ferrari V12 with a direct connection to F1. Adorable.
you captured something really special in the exhaust/shift note sound I haven't heard in an f50 video made in the last 20 years. others probably know exactly which noise I mean. brilliant.

@@DubC Agree with you, disagree with the OP. A straight piped Enzo has a much deeper sound and also revs higher. You can find vids of such Enzos on TH-cam. This sounds great, but also so different to an Enzo. Not sure why people always make these inane and unsubstantiable "Car X is better than Car Y" comments rather that just appreciating the thing for what it is. I guess they feel some kind of personal "victory" by attaching their identity to one of the cars LOL.

The F50 can actually be tuned to just over 750hp without modifying the engine's mechanical parts, some around the world have these modifications, yielding power similar to the F50 GT1! Amazing content mate!

I knew the F50 sounds really good, but this is just brutal and so pure. Something modern cars miss. Sounds like a Le Mans sports car of the 60's or 70's
The reflection of the car on the windows as you were driving around in town was top notch..for some reason I like "normal" Ferraris in colours different to red but the F50 has to be red, looks so good in that colour.

Ferraris are the pinnacle cars of the current time. But to see them simply butchered for some childish means seems stupid. They have a incredible sound that cant be heard when the exhaust is so loud you can not hear.
Everyone has a loud car. every Silverado is loud and sounds like this. Why not celebrate the car in its original form. Why not just put a couple of tubes out the front after putting on headers? Current car culture is REv REV REV oh gosh this is a great sound. Not look at the lines of the car see the history and celebrate the designer. Its now Spit flames while it backfires and try to hear after it passes by. And its not just one its virtually every idiot with a expensive car and lots of cash.

When the upshifts sound more aggressive than the downshifts... was my 90's Poster Car... :)
The sound is made even better by having the manual gearbox. The nuance of the different sounds either side of and during the shift are spine tingling. The pause during the change and then the slight stutter and then rip when getting back on the power are amazing. Compare that to the blurred, farty sound of the modern DCTs. It is night and day.
it is imo the best sound feature of a manual car. the pause, stutter and surge. and the f50 is the greatest iteration of this sound.
@@03056932 agreed . I don’t have a Ferrari but a nice stick shift v8 car. I owned the automatic version previous , NIGHT AND DAY. The automatic might as well have been one of those Tesla self drive features .

+ I rode in a black F50 in 2003 at a race track near the New Orleans Louisiana area. It was known as the highest milage F50 ever. When I got out the car I told the owner "it was better than any sex I'd ever had". An incredible experience.
This was the car I read about in a Magazine when it first came out, and dreamed about. The F40 was my favorite car, but then they came out with the F50 and I read every magazine article about it when it did. At the time it was one of the fastest cars ever produced in the world. And there was a very limited number of them produced. The coast in 1995 was already half a million dollars. I can't even imagine the value appreciation.
When I see the F40 and F50 I want to cry. Those cars are so beautiful and bring me back to my childhood when things were much simpler. I used to tear out pictures of them from the Dupont Registry magazines.

Of the three, I'd choose the F50 every time. I even prefer the looks to that of the other two. Such a machine. 8500 rpm in a V12 back then was also amazing!

You can’t pick a 288 GTO up for less than 2.5m now, you can still find an F50 for around 2.25m but you have to know the right people to get one! By the way the F50 wins every group test, it’s phenomenal.

Love that car. My first model car 1/18 was a F50 in red, I still got it today. I remember summer 1997, on our way to Italy on the autobahn, a red F50 came up from behind and drove slowly pass us. My first love.
