Ich bin in Dortmund geboren und aufgewachsen. Dieses Spiel am 3.7.1974 werde ich nie vergessen. Das erstemal war ich ich im neuen Westfalenstadion. Damals war ich 20. Als grosser Borussia Dortmund Anhänger habe ich seitdem ca. 1000 Spiele in diesem Fussballtempel gesehen. Aber dieses WM-Spiel war das allererste. Eine schöne Erinnerung für immer.

Varios jugadores de Holanda deberian haber sido expulsados, o al menos el juez debio repartir un monton de tarjetas. No han cambiado mucho cuando juegan con otros cuadros hoy dia. Muchos de sus jugadores son malintencionados y sucios.

Se tenían mucho respeto y primero eligieron el camino de la pierna fuerte, después empezaron a jugar. Por lo que se pudo ver en este resumen, Brasil fue muy perjudicado por el arbitraje. Un par de posiciones adelantadas insolitas, en donde los brasileños quedaban mano a mano frente al arquero rival, y un penalazo tremendo que omite el juez. Tremendo.
Acho que a seleção brasileira até perdeu a cabeça e caiu na catimba holandesa , e ai até perdeu um jogador por expulsão. Parece que a seleção holandesa era muito determinada na marcação , só que vi alguns vídeos que parece que eles não tinham disciplina tática, marcavam desordenamente , mandavam um batalhão pra tomar a bola de um jogador com a bola , e outros ficavam desmarcados .
Um milagre essa partida ter terminado sem algum jogador com a perna quebrada ou a cabeça rachada! Violência em seu maior estado da arte. Esse jogo serviu de base para a FIFA rever os conceitos de arbitragem e segurança dos atletas

Mas esse jogo contra o Brasil, foi extremamente estressante para a Holanda, tirando todo o fôlego que tinham até aquele momento. Na final contra a Alemanha, eles não tinham mais aquele gás todo que tinham nos jogos anteriores. Bom para a Alemanha que foi campeã.
Esse jogo não serve de base para apreciar o grande time holandês. Equipe brasileira, apesar de ter bons nomes, era muito ruim. Holanda um timaço, mas a meu ver era para ter perdido a final por 4x1 não fosse a arbitragem.

Al final Brasil entró al juego violento en vez de tocar la bola y Holanda pudo ganar más por golpes y contragolpes que por buen juego. In those days, football in South America was generally much more violent than in Europe and no such thing as a VAR. The Dutch squad however consisted almost completely of highly skilled and experienced top players from Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenood Rotterdam - the two teams who had won the Euro Cup 4 times in a row the previous years. Basically like Spain playing with only players from Barcelona and Real Madrid having won the Champions League four times in a row. That team knew what it takes at this level so if the Brazilians attacked one of them, they made very sure the Brazilians got one back. Brazil was the reigning champion, but the Dutch were at the time the better squad and absolutely deserved to win. This frustrated the Brazilians to no end which led to a lot of fouls. In the end, Brazil was defeated by a better opponent.
The Dutch offside trap only worked because linesmen and referees were hopelessly inept in making the right call. Belgium in the qualifying round for the world cup scored a legit goal that was disallowed. They deserved to go through instead of Holland. Germany scored a perfectly good goal that was disallowed because of offside and looking at 0:59, that pass to number 13 was not offside. Two Dutch defenders in the left field are between the attacker and the goal line. Then again at 1:47. In the moment the ball leaves the foot of Number 11 the Dutch defender is way behind the receiving player. Those were two perfect chances that would have changed to outcome of the game. That Dutch team had a LOT of help from the referees.
I looked at both moments extensively. I can not agree with you that both moments were not offside, it is at the very least impossible to say for certain. You are right though about the Belgium qualfifying match, that one is well known.
@@kiekiek If you are referring to the wrong offside call against Germany, well there is plenty of footage out there to correct your misconception. It was a terrible, terrible call. The Dutch defender was at least 1 1/2 m behind Mueller when the pass was played. I repeat, the Dutch offside trap only worked because referees and linesmen were not ready for it, but it tarnishes the legacy of that team. They played great, innovative football (with a shaky defense) but man, they had help.

I'm Dutch myself, but I don't agree with you; I think you're not giving credit enough to your own German squad at the time. Years ago, right before the 2006 World Cup was held in Germany, ZDF repeated the three World Cup Finals Germany had won at the time. I recorded the 1974 final and it was the first time I saw it in full. And what I noticed was that the German team was way better than I expected. They too played attacking football in a 4-3-3 formation with wingers whereas the Dutch never got to play in their usual dominant style. I think the penalty awarded to West-Germany was unjust as it was a Schwalbe, but I also think the penalty kick awarded to Netherlands in the very first minute wasn't correct either. Cruyff was fouled alright, but it was slightly outside the penalty box so it should have been a free kick. But even more importantly - and this is something rarely mentioned - in the second half, Gerd Müller scored another goal: the 3-1. It was disallowed for offside. But Müller wasn't offside at all. A Dutch defender was at least a meter behind him. The Dutch however had a brilliant trick in that tournament by being one of the first teams ever to play the offside-trick and it worked. The referees weren't used to it, so they sometimes gave offside when it wasn't. The German players and the crowds in the stadium didn't protest to disallowing that goal for offside either. But the fact is: Gerd Müller scored not one but two goals in that final and Germany should have won 3-1 instead of 2-1. Or 2-0 if you strike both unjust penalty kicks out. So as a Dutchman I would say to you: congratulations West-Germany for a deserved win in that final. The one we Dutch really should have won is 1978 against Argentina. And 2010 against Spain as well.

The defeat sent shockwaves for decades throuthout the Netherlands, Cruyff made them believe (like Trump) the the defeat was due to dark circumstances. The had defeated Brazil and other great teams so the ended up being arrogant which is never ever a good idea against any German team PLUS the early goal for Holland was good for us because it fired up the usual 'German willpower. @@notsorandumusername To this day I believe the early, completely justified, penalty to the Netherlands in the ‘74 final had an illusionary effect on the players - mistakenly believing the game was won, and not pressing for a second, possibly decisive, goal. Even allowing for West Germany’s legendary strengths of resolve, it is unlikely Helmut Schon’s men would have come from two clear goals behind, the Netherlands emulating the success therefore of Uruguay and Brazil (in 1950 and 1958 respectively) defeating the host country in the World Cup final. As for the 2010 final, the behaviour of the Dutch was frankly disgraceful, repeatedly kicking lumps out of the Spanish players. It was a very uncharacteristic display by a nation famed for its flamboyant football. One had to feel sympathy for English referee Howard Webb, who tried in vain to give the game a chance to flow. The decision to merely book and not send off Nigel de Jong for a dangerously high challenge, was a poor one. The yellow card was one of fourteen issued by Webb, in addition to the red shown to John Heitinga. This game - spoiled by the rugged Dutch who knew they were up against superior players - needed firmer handling from its embryonic stages.

Those players were real men, strong, tough! Football really was war, as master coach Rinus Michels noted at the time. All these (often also dangerous) fouls and still only one red card! How different the game today is... easily 10 red cards would have been drawn. I really would like to see how players such as Messi, Neymar, Mbappé would hold up in such a 70's world cup game... Probably within 5 minutes they'd be carried of the pitch on a stretcher! 😁

@@schipbreukeling3 Well, that is tricky. A passive offside now is way more liberal than at that time indeed. However the rule that the player has to be ONSIDE at the MOMENT of the pass was there. But it was poorly enforced and when in doubt the referee would favor the defense most of the time.

What a fierce game! Grit and skills, so much better than today's games where players have no skills to play 1v1 and referee stops a game every time a players falls down. Lato, top scorer from that world cup, said Dutch team played tough but fair, it was always a good game against them.

Al final Brasil entró al juego violento en vez de tocar la bola y Holanda pudo ganar más por golpes y contragolpes que por buen juego. Aunque Brasil juega normalmente con árbitros comprados que lo favorecen, en ese partido mereció mejor suerte y debió terminar en empate o tal vez ganando Brasil. Me decepcionó Holanda. In those days, football in South America was generally much more violent than in Europe and no such thing as a VAR. The Dutch squad however consisted almost completely of highly skilled and experienced top players from Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenood Rotterdam - the two teams who had won the Euro Cup 4 times in a row the previous years. Basically like Spain playing with only players from Barcelona and Real Madrid having won the Champions League four times in a row. That team knew what it takes at this level so if the Brazilians attacked one of them, they made very sure the Brazilians got one back. Brazil was the reigning champion, but the Dutch were at the time the better squad and absolutely deserved to win. This frustrated the Brazilians to no end which led to a lot of fouls. In the end, Brazil was defeated by a better opponent.

The Dutch offside trap only worked because linesmen and referees were hopelessly inept in making the right call. Belgium in the qualifying round for the world cup scored a legit goal that was disallowed. They deserved to go through instead of Holland. Germany scored a perfectly good goal that was disallowed because of offside and looking at 0:59, that pass to number 13 was not offside. Two Dutch defenders in the left field are between the attacker and the goal line. Then again at 1:47. In the moment the ball leaves the foot of Number 11 the Dutch defender is way behind the receiving player. Those were two perfect chances that would have changed to outcome of the game. That Dutch team had a LOT of help from the referees.

I looked at both moments extensively. I can not agree with you that both moments were not offside, it is at the very least impossible to say for certain. You are right though about the Belgium qualfifying match, that one is well known.
@@kiekiek If you are referring to the wrong offside call against Germany, well there is plenty of footage out there to correct your misconception. It was a terrible, terrible call. The Dutch defender was at least 1 1/2 m behind Mueller when the pass was played. I repeat, the Dutch offside trap only worked because referees and linesmen were not ready for it, but it tarnishes the legacy of that team. They played great, innovative football (with a shaky defense) but man, they had help.

I'm Dutch myself, but I don't agree with you; I think you're not giving credit enough to your own German squad at the time. Years ago, right before the 2006 World Cup was held in Germany, ZDF repeated the three World Cup Finals Germany had won at the time. I recorded the 1974 final and it was the first time I saw it in full. And what I noticed was that the German team was way better than I expected. They too played attacking football in a 4-3-3 formation with wingers whereas the Dutch never got to play in their usual dominant style. I think the penalty awarded to West-Germany was unjust as it was a Schwalbe, but I also think the penalty kick awarded to Netherlands in the very first minute wasn't correct either. Cruyff was fouled alright, but it was slightly outside the penalty box so it should have been a free kick. But even more importantly - and this is something rarely mentioned - in the second half, Gerd Müller scored another goal: the 3-1. It was disallowed for offside. But Müller wasn't offside at all. A Dutch defender was at least a meter behind him. The Dutch however had a brilliant trick in that tournament by being one of the first teams ever to play the offside-trick and it worked. The referees weren't used to it, so they sometimes gave offside when it wasn't. The German players and the crowds in the stadium didn't protest to disallowing that goal for offside either. But the fact is: Gerd Müller scored not one but two goals in that final and Germany should have won 3-1 instead of 2-1. Or 2-0 if you strike both unjust penalty kicks out. So as a Dutchman I would say to you: congratulations West-Germany for a deserved win in that final. The one we Dutch really should have won is 1978 against Argentina. And 2010 against Spain as well.
@@notsorandumusername Wow , I am surprised at your comment. Did not remember the goal you mentioned. The defeat sent shockwaves for decades throuthout the Netherlands, Cruyff made them believe (like Trump) the the defeat was due to dark circumstances. The had defeated Brazil and other great teams so the ended up being arrogant which is never ever a good idea against any German team PLUS the early goal for Holland was good for us because it fired up the usual 'German willpower. Took the Netherlands a long time to come to terms with this. Thanks for your comment- I always liked the Dutch! and still do.

To this day I believe the early, completely justified, penalty to the Netherlands in the ‘74 final had an illusionary effect on the players - mistakenly believing the game was won, and not pressing for a second, possibly decisive, goal. Even allowing for West Germany’s legendary strengths of resolve, it is unlikely Helmut Schon’s men would have come from two clear goals behind, the Netherlands emulating the success therefore of Uruguay and Brazil (in 1950 and 1958 respectively) defeating the host country in the World Cup final.
As for the 2010 final, the behaviour of the Dutch was frankly disgraceful, repeatedly kicking lumps out of the Spanish players. It was a very uncharacteristic display by a nation famed for its flamboyant football. One had to feel sympathy for English referee Howard Webb, who tried in vain to give the game a chance to flow. The decision to merely book and not send off Nigel de Jong for a dangerously high challenge, was a poor one. The yellow card was one of fourteen issued by Webb, in addition to the red shown to John Heitinga. This game - spoiled by the rugged Dutch who knew they were up against superior players - needed firmer handling from its embryonic stages.

Repasando el MUNDIAL ' 74 acabo de ver el resumen de este partido, y me sorprende, las interrupciones que tuvo por faltas, golpes, muy conversado, no me extraña de Brasil que jugaba pero cuando tenía que meter metía, Sí me sorprende Holanda como metía pierna fuerte, el árbitro muy mal, no vi que sacara la roja, hubo muy mala intención de ambas selecciones. @@schipbreukeling3 Well, that is tricky. A passive offside now is way more liberal than at that time indeed. However the rule that the player has to be ONSIDE at the MOMENT of the pass was there. But it was poorly enforced and when in doubt the referee would favor the defense most of the time.
@@vrokhlenko the Dutch called it de buitenspel val (offside trap). It was a very important part of the system they played. That's partially why they were able to play so offensively.

Varias posiciones adelantadas que se cobraron a favor de Holanda en realidad no lo fueron. Varias de ellas dejaban a los brasileños mano a mano contra el arquero de Holanda. Con VAR probablemente el resultado hubiera sido distinto.
