    First time RV owner, just ran into this same and somewhat common problem from the many vids I see on this very topic (needed to replace pig tail). Followed your instructions and happy it is fixed. Thank you for the video!

    Thank you Kevin. I don't have an RV, but our BBQ uses a gas tank, and you remind me to test for leaks at the start of the summer (hopefully soon). I've worked with gas lines in a lab, but never thought to apply the same discipline at home. D'oh!

      Mike, thank you for watching. That is a great idea to check the BBQ tank, so many people have one including ME👍🤓. Thanks for sharing that tip

    Good advice Kevin. I personally would still use Ng rated thread tape on the regulator side myself. Also another trick is to disconnect the tank sides during towing etc. That reduces the stress on the hoses with the movement.

      Kade, Your comment makes great sense.
      On our regulator we have a step down fitting to mate to the hoses which in turn do have thread tape on this connection. Thank you for bringing this point up, I had forgotten about it.

    Thanks for the video, I noticed your tank cover opens from the front to the back 0:38 seconds. I'd recommend turning it around so it opens from the back to the front. This way if it accidently opens while you're going down the road you don't have to worry about the cover being ripped off by the wind. Same reason TT doors open from the left to the right.

    Squirrels seems to like my propane hoses. This time around I replaced them with the steel braided ones. 🍸🍸

    How do you seal the ridged connections ??? Mine keep popping off !!! They have a black rubber seal inside the femal end and goes over the ridged brass fitting.

    Great video! What brand of regulator do you have with threaded compression fittings?

    Great video. Just what I was looking for. Just filled one of the bottles in town and when I reconnected it, I heard a hissing noise. I will
    replace both hoses like you've done here, but could it also be coming from around the regulator area? If so, is it just a matter of
    replacing the regulator? Thanks!

      I should have gotten closer to the house when I made the video.
      Most places that sell RV accessories will have a proper gas line hose for you to make repair.
      I hope this helps you.

    Replaced hoses on both tanks, one continues to leak at both ends of the new hose. No amount of tape or teflon puddy would stem the leak. I can smell it, and gas detector is pin pointing the area. Soapy water is NOT showing a leak. I'm at a loss what to do.

    • @RVKevin
      @RVKevin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a tough one, I would swap out the gas tanks, move the first tank far away to eliminate a false reading and see what you get

      I've been coating the conection (where the hose meets the fitting. That where I keep having an issue) with a soft glue or kaulking. That way it seals the leak and easy to replace whenever I change bottles.

  • @casmyoung

    This wouldn't be much if the darn hoses would last more than just a couple months. Then it starts getting stupid. I shouldn't have to jerry-rig the connecting hoses all this often or keep replacing hoses every two months. And I'm definitely not abusive with them. It's too easy for the hose to separate from the fitting. That indicates bad craftmanship. How is it manufactures are selling crap hoses and that's okay. It's like they're built to fail. Wtf?

    • @RVKevin
      @RVKevin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try finding a local hose pros type of store near you, they could make you one that lasts, I would bet.
