This kind of music was a good fit for Vai - he can just conjure up his Zappa playing style.
Vai is no Robert Fripp. Vai can do tasteless speed drivel all day long but he doesn't have an ounce of Fripps artistry
Carey and Belew are awesome - but this doesnt compare to the energy/intensity of the most recent Crimson live incarnation (such as Live in Chicago 2017)
