- Lauren Zima is back to recap Peter Weber‘s season of 'The Bachelor!’ We’re in Australia for fantasy suite week. But before the dates went down, Madison gives Peter an ultimatum (though she doesn’t call it that), saying she may leave the show if he sleeps with other women. Meanwhile, we’re given an homage to ‘Titanic’ and Victoria F gives an explanation on why she struggles with communication. Plus, a ‘Roses & Rose’ surprise! ‘The Bachelor' airs Mondays on ABC. Exactly. I'm not religious and I don't believe you have to save yourself for marriage. But I do believe that the guy proposing to you should not have f*cked another woman a few days prior. Madison has self esteem unlike the others who just accept that their boyfriend is screwing the other women they live with.
If he's still struggling and it's one of the deciding factors then I’d be fine with it. If he knows he'll pick me and just wants to have sex for the heck of it then I wouldn't be okay with it. It would depend on the man and what values he holds. Peter is known for his time in the windmill with Hannah B., he has been very verbal about how important physical intimacy is to him in a relationship. It's kind of crazy for Madison to go on the show knowing Peter would be the bachelor as he has such different values than her.
My take: This season was way too overly produced and it’s by far the WORST season ever.
I love Madison. She’s not judging Peter for his past and she doesn’t care that he’s slept with others. She’s simply saying, I can’t get engaged to someone knowing that he was okay sleeping with 2 other girls 6 days prior.
I wouldn’t want to be engaged to someone who had no problem sleeping with 2 other women 6 days before either. Just rubs ya the wrong way. & I know that “this is what she is signing up for” but other bachelors haven’t slept with women in the fantasy suite and one even has a successful marriage with kids.
If you wanna sleep with other women go for it all power to you but I just feel like when there’s an engagement and marriage involved, idk maybe think about who you choose to sleep with. That’s my opinion.

Allison Hoff I definitely agree about the show being a lot for her. I wouldn’t mind seeing her as a bachelorette. After this season it would be a breath of fresh air. I’m sure she went on not really knowing what to expect. I think most have an idea of how it will go down but don’t know until they are really there in it. It’s probably a lot harder than we can ever fathom. The show is a weird concept for sure. 🤣
& to add to my comment, forcing Madison to share a place with the other women during fantasy suite week is cruel and just another way to try and up the shows ratings for drama. It was gross. Not here for it.

I call BS on Chris Harrison's explanation of why the women were in the same room during Fantasy Suite week. You know how you "force the situation" with Madison and Peter's communication? You give Madison the first Fantasy Suite date where she speaks openly and freely and eloquently about saving herself and her boundaries. And the drama escalates as we all wait with bated breath to see if Peter still ends up having sex with one or both of the other women even knowing where Madison stands. They put the women together in the same room to emotionally terrorize Madison as she watches the other two leave and come back from their overnight dates. It wasn't kind, and pretending it was in Peter's best interests is nonsense - it only helped set him up to fail.
Also, it's not law that everyone has sex on the overnight dates. Plenty of former leads (outside of born-again virgin Sean Lowe) have said explicitly that they did not have sex with anyone, OR they only slept with one person because they knew who they were going to pick. Furthermore, I'm a little surprised that there are so many people who do assume that this overnight date automatically means sex. Even if you're not a virgin or saving yourself for marriage, I would imagine that PLENTY of people wouldn't want to have sex with the lead until they were the last one standing for the exact reason we're having this discussion right now.

I 100% agree. I actually commented something VERY similar when I first heard Chris Harrison's thoughts, so I'll repost it here, and I'll just say that I was frustrated when writing so it may seem a little bit heated, sorry. Here it is:
"I enjoy this show but couldn't stand some of Chris Harrison's takes on the last episode. The way that he was criticizing Madison for basically 'setting Peter up to fail' was fair, but he did not acknowledge the obvious next step from that, wherein the producers themselves then set Maddie up to fail by giving her the last date of the fantasy suites. They could have given her the first date and allowed her to expand on who she was and let Peter make his decisions from there, but they did not because they did not and it was what it was. Whatever. Both parties did what they did and neither were better than the other, although Madison is coming out on top in my eyes. It's just takes like this that make me very frustrated with the show."

Peter and Victoria have to be the stupidest concept of a relationship to base a marriage on.
You dont see what he was doing, girl? He just wanted to sleep with her. I'd bet my last dollar she goes home next or since I'm not sure how it ends I bet it's not with her. He kept her around for that one reason. And that's probably part of the reason she is the way she is. Hopefully she realizes it from this & grows up so she can find someone who loves her for her.

It reminds me of the TV show 'stormchasers'. It's fun to hunt the Tornado, it's fun to "capture" the tornado, then you pop up your head and see the debris flying everywhere and it's an abrupt awakening that no, this isn't fun anymore, this may end with someone dead. I think he's physically very attracted to her and I can't blame him, she's beautiful. But this seems like a hit it and quit it situation. Maddison seems to be on her way out because of his decision, so I guess we have Hannah Ann winning by default.
You came after Madison😂 I don’t personally agree; the fantasy suites aren’t just for sex. Colton didn’t have sex with the other girls because he knew who he wanted. Various contestants have taken that opportunity to have serious talks without the cameras. It’s ok for her to have expectations that are atypical for the show! She was clearly nervous about the subject but got the point across that he could lose her if he had sex with other women. Also, she has a really great point! It’s weird to get engaged to someone 6 days after they’ve been intimate with other women! Additionally, he said he knew his front runner since week 4. She had a boundary, he wasn’t about it, so she walked out. Simple as that!

@@JaclynSeymour the crap is not about her values. all people i have seen commenting 'negatively' have just pointed out that she didn't create the best situation by going on the show in the first place and then by not communicating 100% clearly (maybe 70% dunno) and then being angry as if she had communicated that clearly. haven't actually seen one negative comment about her personal choice regarding her body, and the unjudgementality of all the discussions is kinda great

re: madison, i don't feel like she was out of line. she did her best to communicate her feelings and needs (clearly not an expert communicator, but she tried) about peter sleeping with the other women. and she told him before the fantasy suites. and honestly, if we look back on previous seasons, she's not alone in this - she just verbalized it ahead of time, whereas others haven't. many of the leads (most?) end up only sleeping with the person they choose in the end. and the ones who sleep with more than one person...well, those relationships often break up due to the chosen contestant not being able to get over the fact that their beloved slept with someone else. so...no, it's not emotionally abusive, gaslighting, manipulative, autocratic luke p. at all. it was a women trying her best to communicate her feelings and needs, the same feelings and needs that most of the other contestants have felt/had over the years. :)
When did it become the “rules” that you have to have sex in the fantasy suites if you go on the bachelor? Everyone has their standards/morals, and props to Madi for sticking to hers. And no shame to the others for feeling/acting differently. She didn’t give Peter an ultimatum; she opened to him in an honest way of what she expects of the man that she may be marrying. In no other context would sleeping with multiple people and then proposing to someone else (days later) be acceptable. But because “she signed up for this”- shame on her? I think not. I stand with her for being realistic and articulating her beliefs with grace.

Her standards do not meet this reality show’s process in finding love. Therefore Madison is dumb for coming on the show. I don't think it's fair to say "Have you seen this show?" to Maddie. There have been plenty of people who either 1. Only slept with their top pick in Fantasy Suites or 2. Didn't sleep with anyone at all.

THANK YOU! And actually a couple more Bachelor/Bachelorettes have done that too -- not just the names you mentioned. So it really averages out. You don't have to sleep with every single one of your final 3.... That's not even really the point. It's alone time without cameras -- that's the point. I'm surprised Lauren would even use this as a point when I'm sure she knows the truth (that 1/2 of the Bachelor/Bachelorettes don't sleep with all of their final 3.)
I agree! I actually stopped watching after LZ kept saying “have you seen the show” that’s so annoying to me... and then saying it was similar to Luke P... no way! I do wish that Madi would’ve said something along the lines of “making it an even playing field” and not have sex with any of the women that way he would be thinking with his heart and not his 🍆 ... and also the talk about sex really hasn’t been the WHOLE topic of fantasy suites until last season with Hannah because before it was more of a discreet secretive thing... I started watching with Sean Lowe’s season and respected the hell of him for his choices! So to end my rant LOL I do think that Peter and Madi end up together… but she deserves someone wayyyy better than Peter!!

Many of the bachelors dont have sex in Fantasy Suits. It's only a possibility. I dont see any problem on her trying to make the show work on her terms. In the end, Peter is free to choose pretty much everything he does. It wasnt unfair of Madison to hope he would follow that standard of hers. Didnt sense any judgment from her or toxic behavior. She seemed to respect his other perspective on sexuality.

Completely agree. If the Bachelor knows who is most wants to be with by Fantasy suites then shouldn’t be that outlandish to not have sex with others. So what Madison is expecting is if Peter is going to propose to Madi at the end then she won’t accept that if he has slept with others. I don’t care what anyone says, Victoria was more concerned about rubbing it in with Maddison. She was vindictive. She smirked after saying “productive”. She kept mentioning the sexual part, when she said,” or bed”. If she was more concerned about Peter and their relationship she wouldn’t make jokes about him having sex with another girl.
Victoria should have never been on this show , she stonewalls, gaslights and for amusement she manipulates to create narcissistic supply. She pushes and pulls emotional buttons of Peter and the other women. Her whole life is trying to cause drama. She doesn't really care about Peter, she only cares about how he supplies her with kudos she uses to fill her empty self. If Peter married her , she would not be loyal to him when his usefulness wears off.

@Cassie Downey she didnt say that he couldn't have over night dates, have sex or even sleep in the same bed as the other girls she just said it would affect her and probably their relationship. If he picks one of the other girls then fine, no problem but Madison has been a frontrunner from the beginning and it is looking like he might pick her and if he knew he wanted to end up with her that was super shitty to do. This show is to find love and a partner and lots of people do that without having sex with the person after two months of dating them so it's unfair to say she cant come onto a show just because she has values and beliefs that differ from most. Is a vegetarian allowed on the show? Like seriously every one is different and that's ok she wasnt being rude or mean she was just being honest. Yeah I really liked the recap on GMA I think it was with Wells and Kaitlyn Bristow really helped but most Bachelor/ettes in recent history except maybe Hannah (NOT slut shaming, please, just trying to point out facts rn) have usually only slept with the person they knew they were going to pick in the end. EVEN NICK VIALL the "sex guy" with all his promos of girls saying something along the lines of "I want that Nick" (dick to replace Nick jokes) and all of the Corinne stuff and taking off her bikini top at that photoshoot, with all of that Nick only slept with Vanessa in fantasy suits because he knew already that he was most likely to pick her in the end. It's kind of why I hate that Lauren Zima kept asking why then did Madison come on the show, because it's been publically announced by several leads that they had only slept with their winner, it's also a big part of why Colton ended everything because he probably slept with Cassie and that was so special to him that he didn't sleep with anyone else and basically knew right then that she won. It's more than okay for Madison to tell Peter that she doesn't want him to sleep with other women because then it basically means you choose them if you do have sex with them and Madison staying is ultimately pointless. I can also understand that this by no means gives her the right to tell him what to do with his body but I think she was trying to tell him that please don't sleep with anyone unless you know for sure how you feel, JUST like what Hannah Ann's dad was trying to say, that don't even bring up love unless you know for sure she's the one for you in the end. I also get that though, because Peter is such an intimate and passionate person, it was obvious sex was a big thing to him for him to be secure in a relationship and Madison should have known that too and been a little more understandable because of who Peter is regardless of what is the norm for other leads, she could definitely be valid in saying this to someone else who is smarter and better able to gauge his feelings and relationships (because Peter has no idea what he's doing, he doesn't know his own emotions), but she should have come at this differently because it's Peter not someone else.

I'm disappointed in Laurens comments about Madison. I don't think she contradicted herself-she made herself clear and Peter understood exactly what she meant and confirmed that in his private messages. &&& "has she ever seen this show before?" There are multiple leads that chose to only sleep with who they knew they were picking because they are mature enough to realize that it WILL have consequences afterwards.

I mentioned it in another comment but nick viall who we all know slept with Andi and Kaitlyn when on the bachelorette only slept with Vanessa during fantasy suites because he knew he'd was proposing to her. So it's not just the sean lowes and coltons who dont sleep with all the women
Realistically, she signed up to be on a show with a dude who banged in the fantasy suite 4 times...a show where girls get engaged to a guy the same exact day the guy breaks up with his other girlfriend. And even outside of all that, why not just clearly tell him before the fantasy suites, “i can’t get engaged if you sleep with someone else” which makes perfect sense, instead of “um like um I don’t want to tell u what to do” ?
I have a feeling there's a new overly ambitious producer or two this season.
1. They obviously set up "champagne gate"
2. They brought Chase Rice on the show
3. They've clearly coach some of the women
4. They put all of the women together to fantasy suites which I dont think they needed to do despite what Chis Harrison said.
We're not into it. They need to find a better balance of drama & romance.
I don't get why people are thinking it's such a big deal for one of the final 3 to expect the lead not to sleep with someone else if they are going to pick them. Nick Vial was upset that the lead slept with him and didn't pick him, and other leads have gotten in trouble and it caused friction in the relationship with their final pick when they learned they weren't the only one the lead slept with.
Has she never seen this show? At least give tge lead the option to decide if he wants to wait til marriage for her and wait God knows how long to have sex!
Lynn Youngblood well it’s upsetting for everyone involved. Madison isn’t different in that regard. It is different her not being totally transparent of her feelings; telling the cameras some things and not to Peter
Renee Moore that’s why she literally told peter her feelings. She’s not forcing peter to stay with her she’s just simply stating how she feels and if peter doesn’t want that for his future he can decide otherwise. He makes his own choices.

PetitChouPumpkin, I agree. I think she should have told him about her life decisions and convictions at least by home towns. But she hasn’t been in any drama and done pretty much everything else well the rest of the time.
I feel like everyone's frustrations with Madison could have been fixed this week if the producers gave her the first date. Then she could have explained her entire stance and gave him all the information to go into the rest of the dates. But whatever, the producers made their bed (in favor of drama rather than love) and now they have to lie in it

My theory is that the dinner with Peter was a producer set up bachelorette tape. She was supposed to self eliminate and get a strong backing from fans then be bachelorette. That probably didn’t happen because either Peter wins her back or she turns them down because they were legit awful to her. So they changed the edit and are trying to make her out to seem like a bad guy. This is a fan theory lol, but all this super negative press from Chris makes it seem like there’s an agenda against Madi at bachelor camp.

The conversation at the hangar, Madison is just as bad at communication as Victimtoria!!! That leaves only Hannah ann as an effective communicator. So insane to watch. Lola Lay she definitely was like this about Victoria much more ruthlessly than for Madison. Also she said she’s not treating Peter the same way Luke did Hannah and she said there was no judgment. But there was an ultimatum just like Luke, and there was a lack of communication about what she expects from early on just like Luke. That's great! Just really doesn't make any sense why someone with said morals and standards would go on a show like this where he is actively dating multiple other women and has publicly been announced to be very sexually active.
It seems the show is below her standards? So why did she even apply? And why did she wait SO long to tell him she is waiting for marriage? She could have told him week one and honestly should have told him WAY before this. She did an awesome job sticking to her morals, but it could have played out much better if she had had a bit more consideration towards Peter and the other contestants throughout the entirety of the season, and been honest about her intentions and standards.
Thoughts: Madi does show up to the rose ceremony. Victoria F (finally) gets eliminated. Final 2: Madi and Hannah Ann. Madi at some point in time self elimiates, after not fully recovering from Peter going ahead and sleeping with the other 2 women. Hannah Ann is left as the only person, but Peter doesn't propose.
After finale, Peter has recoinciled (or tried) with Madi within the past 3 months. They are not engaged but are either together working things out or he's single. oveeeer and out.

Despite this being a reality show, these women are human. No one wants their fiancé to sleep with another woman a week before proposing. The only mistake that Madi made was in telling these girls that she was saving herself for marriage. That is why Hannah Ann gave Peter that whole speech about her not minding if he slept with other people. That was an audition speech. She wanted to win. And that confirmed for me that she was inauthentic. At least Madi was honest.
Hannah Ann wanted to be recognized from the beginning. Peter probably wanted some more since hannah b, so he went crazy. If he wanted true love from the beginning like his parents he should of been truthful and honest and think of Madison all the time in his head in the other 2 girls dates. If madison was that special to him he wouldn't of done stuff with the other 2.
She said she knows the position Peter is in and she understands and she will still be there after the week is over, even if he sleeps with the other women because she knows that's part of this. I would say the same in her position. I'd know what I had signed up for. There ARE understanding women out there. In real life would I be down for that? Fuck no. If I signed up for The Bachelor and made it to Fantasy Suites would I then understand, yes. Just because you can't wrap your mind around that doesn't mean Hannah Ann was lying or inauthentic.
It’s up to her when she feels comfortable to talk about her virginity, there’s no time when he needs to know. Regardless of that he knew her standards and completely disregarded them knowing that he would lose her. This is suppose to help people find real love and no one in their right mind would want to marry someone who slept with someone else the week before. It doesn’t matter the show or the process or whatever else. This is REAL marriage REAL future REAL families, it should be treated like the real world the way that you can’t mistreat someone without consequences. I have a lot of respect for her not because of her virginity but because of her self respect and dignity.
Nia She did not tell him that he would lose her. She would not even give him a yes/no answer. She said “I don’t know how I would feel” and that she’s is struggling. she didn’t say it was a dealbreaker at all costs, until afterwards. That is really important to distinguish because it’s something that happens in communication breakdowns. It’s basically trying to set a boundary without drawing the line. Peter is a really good listener but he needs these ladies to assertively express themselves.

This season has been full of bad decisions and communication fails coming from both Peter and the women. I honestly don't watch the episodes anymore because they would just make me angry, so now I only watch "Roses and Rose" to catch me up. She never judged peter for not being a version, she never spoke badly about the other girls having sex with peter.
It would just be hard for her personally to get engaged to peter knowing he was okay having sex with other women a few days prior. At that point how can you say you truly love her and want to be with her for forever when you just slept with other women a few days prior? I think that’s where the whole issue is with Madi and peter.
She doesn’t care if people have sex, she just wants the person who she ends up marrying to respect her. And maybe I’m just the only one who would find it disrespectful and concerning to know that the one person I’m supposed to marry was okay having sex with other women. Sex is a pretty intimate thing. Kissing and all that is one thing but sex brings it to a whole different level in my opinion.
But again everyone views sex differently. Everything Madi has said is probably in the most non judgmental way. That’s why I think she came on the show. She didn’t mind that peter had sex with Hannah because peter was pursuing only Hannah and peter at the time thought he was going to marry Hannah.

Why is it so taboo when a contestant that is being the middle of this situation asks you to compare if their connection is stronger and not have sex if you want to keep them? For the thou shall not kill I would consider that a good approach even without the bible. The bible has many good approaches but also some that one would not just follow today like you shall not make clothes out of different types of cloth. Or not touch pig skin. If you have found many good teachings for you personally and therefore look to it for even more inspiration that is great. But with all the different variations of Christian communities none are exactly the same which is ok and none follow the bible in the absolute same way and to each word. That is fanatisim. So when we want for people to use their brain and heart to make good decisions - bases on their relationship to the bibles teaching or not - it is also important to be respectful of different decisions. I think it's great people have been supportive of maddie making her own choice for her even if they would not make the same choice for themselves. Sex can be a positive way of expression or connection for many. So calling it adultery or a perverse culture is what surprised me. People, especially women, are pressured to do so much by so many sides. This whole Madi situation raises a really good discussion about how the lead should approach fantasy suites. Ashley Iaconetti said that her friends that were male leads of the show only slept with the one girl they knew they would propose to. She mentioned Nick Vial and how he only slept with Vanessa. This makes total sense because he was upset with Andi for sleeping with him if she wasn’t going to pick him. I think if any lead knows who they’re going to pick in the end, out of respect for that person they shouldn’t sleep with anyone else.
Disappointed in Lauren’s take on this episode; Chris Harrison’s explanation of the ‘one suite for three remaining ladies is complete BS.

I agree with you. MAdison is the only one with a brain, but they spent the whole time gaslighting her.
I don’t understand why the other girls were upset about what Madison had said to Peter. In the end, Madi expressed the expectations for their own relationship, and if Peter knew that Madi was the one he would have had no problem not sleeping with the other women. But, Peter thinks with his “peter” and we know that because Victoria is still on the show. In fairness, I think Madison waiting to tell Peter that she is “saving herself for marriage” should have been communicated beforehand in the conversation she had after the rose ceremony in the beginning of the episode. I think Peter underestimated her and he didn’t realize how wholesome she really was until she expressed that she was a virgin. Madi is a smart and independent woman who stands in what she believes in. Her telling Peter that she can’t change how she feels and what she values in herself is admirable and I think Peter now realizes the extent of how much this meant to her, and their relationship.
It should not matter when Madison told Peter that she did not want him to sleep with the other women. The fact that he did this is a sign that he has significantly different values in the way he prioritizes aspects of a relationship.
If Madison told him after he slept with others, then it’s proof he wanted to “test” the other women or indulge with them sexually, perhaps because of love or perhaps in its absence. (I don’t believe it necessarily indicates he had stronger feelings for them in terms of love... a person can love you but be weak in character and therefore make foolish decisions with other people they are attracted to).
If Madison told him before he slept with the others, it’s again evidence of the above, plus indication that he values how he feels or what he wants so much that he is okay to go after it even if it betrays Madison’s sense of trust and commitment to their relationship... Ultimately, Peter showed Madison who he is: either
1) a man who has lesser feelings for her;
2) a man who has lesser integrity or strength of character; or
3) a man who has divergent values to hers that are fundamentally incompatible - which we knew anyway since his faith is not nearly as steadfast as hers; or
4) some combination of the above.
This isn’t a slighting to Peter. It’s an observation of strong indicators to who he may really be. Madison has no need to feel guilty for what choice she makes next, but she must make the choice that resounds with her sense of self-respect and what she cares about most... if she stays, maybe she discovers she (and he) can overcome hurtful choices. If she goes, she might discover that as much as she loved him, intimacy is sacred and she could never be with a man who felt it could be mixed up with others.
I think we can all agree, Madison is such a role model and she deserves SO much better than peter. I’m so frustrated with peters choices this season. Madison deserves a guy like Tyler C who would respect her!

This was an unfortunate episode of Roses & Rose for me...Lauren is entitled to an opinion here but it just shows you how Hollywood has different standards on sex and life especially in regards to this show...but honey it’s a show...it’s real life after the show and Madi has every right to say what she said and so did Peter...it’s what you call a two way relationship!!! Oh my gosh, who knew a relationship was two folded instead of one folded. I don’t think anybody should be angry with Madi or Peter, they both made certain decisions for themselves and it needed to be communicated...she is the only person that is refreshing on this show!!! #TeamMadi

maria G she totally was expressing her frustration and it’s fair but Madi specifically told Peter from the beginning she takes things slow...Madison knew what she signed up for but she also has the freedom to express her standards and if Peter doesn’t want to abide by them well he can just let her go but clearly Peter didn’t want to because he kept begging her stay. Well you can’t fault them both for being who they are. Madison was clear, she did say at the airport hanger “if he slept with someone else she wouldn’t be able to move forward” I don’t know where she had to be any clearer then that when Peter kept asking her. She was short simple and clear, I truly think Peter didn’t value his relationship with Madi until the dinner portion and I personally don’t think it would of changed anything if she told him sooner. We heard at the dinner that Peter respected Madison’s point but didn’t have the same take. If that’s the case he still would of slept with the other girls but if he was going to be that sad she will leave he shouldn’t have done what he did. Madison was classy and she showed strength on that episode...the most real authentic relationship I’ve ever seen on the show and it reminded me of the days when the show was all about finding a real love story. They shared something on this show that was so raw that I don’t think should deserve the discredit it’s getting.

lightgivener understood! Don’t think people should be irritated with either. It’s their relationship and it’s a 10 week show and it’s only a show...life happens outside of this show and what Madi and Peter were conveying were real life issues. But I guess we will have to agree to disagree at this point!
@@destinygweh8739 I am not sure where we are disagreeing. I just balked at the word discredit since that is not what people are doing imo. Both maddie and Peter have very valid approaches it's just complicated by the setting. It's hard to imagine a perfect handling by either and outside of a show this would look very different. Hope they can clarify for themselves and I agree life happens after the show.
The producers made their bed (in favor of drama rather than love) and now they have to lie in it. If they wanted Madison to be able to give Peter all of the information and succeed with his relationships, they would have given her the first date. So, I disagree with Lauren in that respect
K Parker I disagreed with Lauren on almost everything. She was entirely too hard on Maddie. Why did she come on the show, to find love......and while Peter was active in the windmill, all women hoping to find love, they believe their love can change a man for the better.

Why is it so hard to grasp a women with standards and morals.
