THANK YOU! I am a sixty-year-old woman who just lost her father and her brother. I did not want to be taken advantage of by a repairman and thought I might be able to do this myself and thanks to your video I did! I even move that big refrigerator in the middle of the floor

Great video, had no problem replacing the Water Head & Tube Assembly. Went from taking 51 seconds to fill a 24oz water bottle to a blazing 14 seconds. Bonus, got to clean behind the fridge and vacuum the condenser coils which was long overdo.

Thanks for sharing such a significant step by step instructions. I changed the entire assembly (GE) line in 35 mins. I saved at least $400 to $500.

This is perfect if your water dispenser is making a hammering sound. Worked like a dream, took 15 minutes and cost less than $40 for the part. Awesome!

Yeah that's my unit for sure. BANG! It's a hammering sound.

This is an excellent video. My home warranty company sent out some clowns that wanted $350 to do this repair. Your video made it such that I could do it myself. Thank you!

Thank you. My dad and I had figured out it was the filter area. Ordered the part. We will replace it this week!

Excellent instructions! Even though the refrigerator I have is a different model, its was close enough. Thanks!

Great video, this helped me do the repair myself. I hope this is the fix. I narrowed it down to this or the other valve in the bottom rear. Also, mine didn’t have the foam or the metal cover plate 😮 I bought it used at 8 months old and it’s now only 2 yrs old.

Is it possible to change the hub alone?
They're selling it separately now without the tube.
It'll save you the time to open the back of the fridge....etc

Thanks. This was a huge help. Curious, my ice maker no longer functions since I did this install even though water flow is great. Does it require priming?

Thanks for the video. I am not able to find the compatible filter head assembly for my GSH25JSDBSS. The issue is that my water dispenser makes a hammering noise and concurrently slows the flow down. The problem persists even with the filter bypass plug - so I am not sure what is wrong - is it the head or the inlet valve or something else? Thank you again.

Is this the only part that needs to be changed to convert a refrigerator to use an MXF filter from a XWF

Piece of cake. Except the foam insulation around the pipes doesn't really slide through the hole (they don't show that in the video), so that you have to shove and prod it in enough that you can get a little of it sticking out the back enough to grip it with some pliers and try to pull it through without ripping it to shreds. Also, good luck finding a bolt driver with a stem long enough to get at the screws on the inside of the refrigerator, and make sure you don't buy cheap crappy Amazon ones where the "1/4" inch driver is actually slightly bigger than 1/4 inch and the next smallest one is way smaller. Oh, and try not to destroy the styrofoam insert on the filter assembly trying to wrest out the two screws holding the assembly to the refrigerator (why doesn't GE just include a new one with a replacement assembly?). The aluminum shield at the bottom of my refrigerator also had one extra, non-5/16 inch bolt holding it in with a little copper-colored clip that didn't seem to be for anything, but which sure tried to get lost under the refrigerator when I unscrewed it. Other than that, piece of cake.

This is the second time I have had to replace this unit in 2 filter changes. What the heck? Sound like a poor design to me. FYI, this came with the house I bought. I am not impressed with the engineering here. But good video of how to fix. $120 bucks down the drain so far.
