My Dad, who was a mechanic (from 1929 until about 1965), gave me this advice: “Take your time and do a good job. In the end, no one will know how long you took, but they will know whether you did a good job or not.” As I watched you carefully and meticulously assemble this head, it reminded me of my Dad’s advice. Excellent video. Thanks.

I have to tell you, and I'm nobody to you except a loyal fan of your channel, but I'm seriously impressed and very proud of you and the work you are doing. I can tell you are like me, with care and respect for the engine (overall vehicle care too) I see the heart and soul you are pouring into this project. The time you take and care will take time but it will be worth it, and now having caught up, and catching those screws on the cam phasers that extra work to custom fit and make it better than right, job well done. My cheers are louder for you and this project, and I'm even more excited to see this beautiful engine mounted back in and awake from slumber of dreams about the road.

The fun kind of build ! I dont think theres anything more nerve wracking than replacing valve seals with the head on the motor. I thought I dropped one when without thinking (and I had been reminding myself about it each time) I tapped the valve to try and pop the keeper, and broke the air seal. I was using air to hold up the valves and rotating the crank. It didnt drop, and the old motor stopped using so much oil - it was a factory defect on a really old v6 motor, poor seals.

Great stuff Faye. So, just having watched 1-15, is the Diagnosis as to what killed it, two fold; warped head front to back and questionable camshaft journals/caps on Intake 1 and 7? Those two issues causing enough vibration, harmonic resonance vibration, to cause the Intake cam mounting bolt to work its way out and then for the backside of the Intake cam pulley to then hit the two mounting bolts (the two you shaved in #14) for the rear timing plate?
I have the same fail (Intake cam pulley loose, hitting those same bolts). My motor was professionally built, lasted 4k miles before the pulley started banging.

Hay Faye, always thought that you had definitely found your calling teaching, helping setting a good example etc. but this video it was really really well done something more than just a simple time lapse what do they say it’s not just the notes it’s the space between that really makes the Music and speaking of music you scored that perfectly that was really good I wander did you plan it that way or did it just work out anyways that was just excellent I hope things are all good stay safe🐔🐔🐔👍🏻
