Great video. Im studying with the hopes of using a drone for my new real estate business. I will say the powerline slide was a bit off. Guy wires do support smaller utility poles and some communications towers, but they are generally not on present in large transmission lines. HEYYY CONGRATULATIONS! Thats what I've heard as of recently. I'm super happy for you. Now if you haven't already you need to log into the FAA IACRA website and you will have to apply for a Remote Pilot Certificate under Pilot Application type. Then once application is submitted you will get a email in a few days with your temporary airman certificate while they send you the real one in the mail which will take a few weeks!
Thanks for the very helpful video and the time you took to really make it easy to follow. Maybe do a little more time on the slides with a lot of information on them and explain them a little more. Keep it up!

Thanks for the info! I am a private pilot and have been curious as to how difficult the p107 could be, especially since i have heard the weather and airspace sections are nearly identical.
If you are current - go into a testing facility and talk to them - you shouldn't have to take the test or at least the majority of the test... just a sign off.
I made an #82 on my private pilot several years ago and made a 96 on this drone test without even studying it. The regulations are the only thing that’s different versus regulations for general aviation.
Im pretty sure you can fly at night now, if equipped with anti collision lights. Is the 24 month retest of part 107 the same as the first, classroomor online

In practice, how do you stay 500 feet and 2,000 feet from clouds? Looking straight up, I can't tell if a cloud is 500 feet up or 10,000 feet up. I imagine that if you're far away and you're at 400 feet and the cloud appears to be the same distance from your drone as the ground is then you're a bit too high. Is it more of a general guideline?
If you cannot tell the difference between a cloud at 500 ft vs 10,000 ft you may have a problem with depth perception. You could get a rangefinder and practice identifying how far away objects are. The distances are such that if a manned aircraft comes out of the cloud you will have ample time to move your drone out of their way. Remember the numbers, but just use common sense to not kill someone.
@@heatherm8261 How do you look straight up at a cloud and determine its exact distance? I can see if it's miles away where you can triangulate based on the horizontal distance to the cloud and then the vertical distance from the ground. But straight up... without LIDAR eyes.... it's just "White up there." A rangefinder isn't going to do the job in a straight line. But yes, common sense is totally doable. I'd just hate to get busted (in theory) because I was only 490 feet from the clouds.
This was an awesome summary! Thank you, like you mentioned drone rules will be changing in years to come. I want to lock mine in early! Keep up the great work!
Just do a quick Google search of "Part 107 drone tests" I recommend trying out alot of different tests and finding which one feels best to you! Then take it over and over again until you feel confident.
the FAA allows drone pilots to fly during twilight, which is 30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset. However, there are some requirements that must be met
Hey so after doing more research in your case you cannot apply for a certificate for up to one year after your final conviction. That being said how long has it been for you?
This is a study guide for important key terms and numbers. As someone stated in the comments his test was heavy on sectional chart questions. But every test is different. Try to understand every aspect to ensure you pass the first time.
Drone pilots operating under Part 107 may fly at night, over people and moving vehicles without a waiver as long as they meet the requirements defined in the rule. Airspace authorizations are still required for night operations in controlled airspace under 400 feet. The information provided here is based on my knowledge from previous years. I went ahead and deleted that section from the video.
The question I don't see people answering if for taking the 107 test is " What happens if you fail it?" Are you able to take it again right away or do you have to wait, Or If you fail does that mean you can not get your 107 license ever? I myself like many other wonders about this question.
My biggest recommendation is to study up as much as possible and be as confident as possible then take the test. I believe in you! Don't let it scare you!
