    I had a feeling that was going to be your lens. I used to be a 'lens snob' and say I would never buy anything slower than f/2.8 but actually in studio settings I'm usually shooting around f/11 anyway.
    Now with shooting mirrorless it's easier to focus with an f/4 lens in lower light than it was with a DSLR, so this makes perfect sense.
    Love the final images too!

    I see why Canon cameras are hot now. Great pictures and even have cameras for the casual users. Hope to see more videos from Canon by fall.

    Lindsay - I always appreciate your advice on this lens. Needing to upgrade from an old workhorse EF lens so this one is perfect. You keep your lighting and equipment smart & simple & efficient. Just the way I like to work too.

    I'm currently rebranding to shoot fashion and beauty work and I've been curious, would the Nikon Z mount 24-120 be as good for this type of work? I cannot find any reviews on this lens being used on people. I currently have all primes and for myself and clients time, I'm trying to find a better choice lens.

    I love this video!! This video exactly and that’s me!
    When I shoot studio or outdoor I don’t go 1.4 or 1.8 most of time fashion editorial shoot on zoom lens is best.. because Portrait photographer and fashion photographer is different way using lens!

    Nice video Lindsay. I have been using the 24-105 for years (EF version) with my wedding shoots (and other shoots) since the days of using my Canon 5D Mark III. The last 3 years I been using (as my go to lens) the newest EF version 24-105 with my 5D Mark IV. I plan on getting the R5 if the dang thing every becomes available...

  • @joecapasso3741

    The RF 24-105 lacks resolution and sharpness even at f/8. I would only use this if I absolutely had to. Even the older EF 24-70 2.8 II is much sharper. I tried the RF 24-105 and sent it back. Maybe I got a bad copy, but I doubt it. Would a client notice the lack of sharpness? Probably not unless you compared two images side by side.

    I noticed there is no lens hood on that lens. OK, what is the magic? I move around a lot as well on a shoot, and all too often I'm not where I should be vis-a-vis the light source so I'll get a hazy shot.

    • @lindsayadlerphoto
      @lindsayadlerphoto 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm in the studio in this shot with no lights at all pointed back toward camera, so no issue with haze/unwanted light on the lens!

    At least you use the lens properly. There is a young lady who shoots portraits of other young ladies, and she uses an 85mm F1.2. The lens hood is always attached but backwards. I am yet to figure out why?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! It's up to an individual photographer whether to use the lens hood, whether it's because of the lighting or simply because the photographer thinks a specific scene would look better with or without one. When the lens hood isn't needed, it can be mounted on the lens backwards so that it's not in the way and so that it doesn't get misplaced.
      Hope this helps!
