Plants grow towards the light. To get the best efficiency from this hang vertically down in the middle of the grow to fill out the plants along with larger overhead lighting. Vertically you get 360 degrees lighting. We are off grid so efficiency is important. For a vertical a single t5. Dropped into the middle so you have 360 light causing plants to fill out a great deal.
I can't believe I never thought of that lol. I have a Big Corn Cob Light and I've been hanging it up above the Plants wasting so much of the light. Tonight when I go to set my lights up I'm gonna try placing the Corn Cob Light down lower in between my 2 plants. I just hope it doesn't cause light burn.

That light has quite a low light output. But it's not supposed to be used with a reflector or horizontal... I think it could be used to grow greens all around it.

These videos are primarily to see which one will be most effective for u. not everyone’s grow space/area/wants are the same ✌️

Brutal honesty, but very informative. Cob LED like those came out for a short time, but did not seem to last on the market near me. Looks like there are inherent issues with the design.
I have 1000w full spectrum and small 225 light led. still use this as supplemental lighting hung at 45° and a 65w flood lamp. My Corn Cob light is a 45w all white led, not full but good par spectrum from a hardware store for $20. Best wishes on your grows.

I would reconfigure the layout of the LED strips, find the nominal/max wattage the LEDs can handle and increase their output if possible. Do you even solder?
That "corncob" LED should be mounted upside down vertically in an old school high bay dome reflector. That is what the OG CFL lights went in with a mogul base. The strongest LEDs will be in the tip that you were covering in your mini test area. Mounted with the tip down those LEDs you covered would be the main down cast lighting, your "COB" if you will. If you mount it correctly and the tests are significantly different make a do over.

UV-B is also excluded from the LED-selected spectrum, which can have useful application toward pest control.

Get a mars hydro sp250. Its litterally as good as his lights and its a dollar a watt with damn good ppfd and spectrum. Never thought id recommend mars to anyone but here i am.

They're blinding but not too hot. I'd run 4 of these corn cobs with 4 warm white CFL at least around 45w or so each but i've seen 200w CFL. 200w CFLs, just a few of those in a 4x4 if I could find them around here! I really like to see the plants not just blurple.
Recommended hanging height: at the cellular level, touching the soul of the plant.
For better results harvest the soul of the plant and fuse it with the light @ the sun's core

How about testing and comparing some of the cheap 3 in 1 grow meters to your real meter? Some of us can't afford the equipment you have.

It would measure out even worse with no reflector. Unless the LED's on the end were 20 times brighter than the ones on the side.

you can buy these leds for about 1 usd per meter. 20 watts a meter if you run them at their max. 80 lumen/watt.

Plants only use light from above the leaf, not bottom.
It look like it had white light coming from the end. Just for shits and giggles what would it have test facing down.
This is for a VC grow...good design, can't imagine it's very effective though.
