       @SkyCarCare You got the key products, Mild Cleaner, Shield, Protector. I recommend you do your own testing on the Top Life, myself and other reviews were not happy with the product on dark leather (mine was black BMW), streaks, any area when overlapped became white tacky, gummy. I'd be weary about offering it with the High Quality standard of your products, My Top Life went right into the trash, I wasn't worried as it is water based and the streaks eventually with Cleaner/wore/went away. About 98% of my car care products come from your store. If you can get Koch-Chemie next you'll have 100%

    WOW ! Great information !
    I'm currently working on a 37 Packard with Oxblood interior. The leather is very soft, but there are wrinkles/cracks with a tan color showing through. I do have some dye, but would like to know how to shrink or eliminate the wrinkles.
    Thanks !

      Thank you! If there are cracks then it needs to be repaired eventually if you want them to go away. You may be able to slow the deterioration with the old leather softener however Colourlock is having another training class for leather repair here at Sky's the Limiting qtr 1 of 2024. if you are interested. They can teach you how to fully repair the cracks.

    So for 8 year old leather seats and steering wheel -- Cleaner + Protector? Cleaner + Shield? Cleaner + Shield + Protector?

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for the late reply! Cleaner + Shield for sure. If you get a lot of constant sun on those areas (like if its a convertible) then + protector as well.

    The information regarding the pH value of leather being acidic unfortunately is factually not quite correct.
    Yes, in one specific process spet within a tannery, the pH value of the leather hide is set to be acidic so it holds all the stuff that the tannery added to it.
    However, afterwards, leather is „painted“ with a primer, base layer and then top coat. And here‘s the part in which the information that Colourlock spreads is factually wrong: the leather surface wen clean in cars is NOT acidic, it‘s pH neutral as the top coat is pH neutral. You are not cleaning the leather‘s hide, you are cleaning the top coat. That‘s why neither acidic nor alkaline cleaners make sense on automotive leather.

      Interesting, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. The thought process they explain is to treat the leather that is underneath which the cleaners and conditioners can penetrate over time. Some leather more than others of course. some as little as 2% only. Are you stating you believe ph level that matches the leather within is damaging to the top coat of finished leathers? Based on everything I have seen I don't think there seems to be any evidence of that.

      @@SkyCarCareeven if the cleaners would be able to penetrate through the top coat and reach the hide underneath it (which is highly unlikely), you are damaging the top coat in the process.
      The actually is factual evidence. In tanneries, they run rubbing cycle tests. They use a small fleece pad which they attach to rubbing cycle testing machines which then rub those fleece pads in anstandardized way over leather surfaces. They do that with dry and wet fleece pads. The wet fleece pads are dunked in distilled water, but also alkaline as well as acidic solutions. These tests are run as the automotive industry dictates how many of these rubbing cycles leather has to be able to withstand when used in cars.
      In these tests, it can be clearly shown that leather lasts significantly shorter if alkaline and acidic solutions are used.
      The issue with „proof“ for a damaged top coat based on wrong cleaning techniques and chemicals is that a damaged top coat looks fine and clean at first. Damage is only visible over time.

      No question if you use the wrong pH cleaners then it is damaging to the leather. I agree.@@AndreasSchwarzinger
