- A conversation on our primordial nature with Dr. Umar Faruq Abd-Allah, the American Muslim theologian and scholar, and Hamza Yusuf, president of Zaytuna College and editor-in-chief of Renovatio.
Our prophetic tradition teaches that every child is born with a natural disposition, or fitra. The great minds of all religious traditions grounded their outlook about human beings in this universal reality. Today, however, this profound first principle has been lost, and our distinctiveness as human beings is challenged by contemporary fields, from biology to psychology to social sciences and beyond. How do we then know the truth of our shared natural disposition? In other words, how do we learn to be human?

Dr. Umar reminds me of Sheikh Hamzah Yousef, so I was searching if the two ever sat down and talked, I'm so glad I found this video.

It's incredible how similar Muslims are to Christians. This talk could have been had by right wing western Christians and all you need to change are the names of the speakers, the content is identical.

Everything was beautiful.. but that laugh was not so nice.. He's an old scholar who spent so much of his time in the worship of God.. and you could see that he became uncomfortable and the same with sheikh Hamza Yusuf.. May Allah forgive those who laughed and guide their heart 🤲
