Tuomas said about this song: Floor at first is acting to be the preacher of fear, then the kids saying how things really should be and in the last chorus they join and that’s where the magic happens. For me: The children’s choir gives a great twist and balance to the song. Like stated before in Weak Fantasy: Fear is a choice you embrace! Universe: not to spoil anything, but you can stop worrying ❣️
Well said Coach and Mrs Coach. Tuomas is commenting on all the doomsday merchants killing our children's optimism for a bright future. Floor wakes up to it and joins the children's chorus (literally in the last stanza).
Hey there Coach & Mrs Coach. Very different this and one that may need a few listens to understand. Still, an incredible video. A masterpiece indeed Mrs Coach. Cheers, Rich
Thanks for sharing your insightful reaction to a song that gets better & better with each listen, which is something that defines greatness in songwriting. The composer, Tuomas Holopainen, has said that this song is his take against all the fear mongering that plaugues main stream media these days. It's a form of mind control to keep the masses of ordinary people in line with official narratives of the ruling class.
The song deals with the fear mongering throughout the ages of disturbed persons proclaiming ''the end is near'. And yet mankind is still here. Just read the lyrics and it is unusually clear where Tuomas is going with this one: Not the end is near, but 'fear is near'! It is just a continuation of the album Human # Nature where Tuomas is commenting on various forms of human behaviour.
Tuomas said in an interview that he also wants to leave it up to the listener, but he did say that it was a song about hope and he pointed out that Floor at the end sings WITH the children's choir.
I think Coach has got it right - people are frightened into their own little bubble by the fear and propoganda that we face today. But there is hope.....
Hello Coach-couple! You are so far the best Who is reacting to this song/video, and getting the idea of its purpose. I saw few interpretations about Tuomas opening these themes, but not too much. (Chaos zine for example) He talked about the hope hidden behind the dark lyrics. And how the end of the world has been our fear since the times of Nostradamus ..and we are still here. Thank You! Keep on reacting...20.of september they release the whole album.. finally Jeeeer. Greetings:Kaisa from Finland
Thanks, y’all - always great and thoughtful reactions. The video gave me “Clockwork Orange” vibes with the eye drops and “Matrix” vibes with the curtain that’s pulled over us daily. The music has a catchy beat that I’ve grown to love with each listen. 🤟
Hi Guys, greetings from UK That was another great reaction, thank you This song grows on me more and more the more times I watch it You got the meaning of the song the first time, well done! The next music video/song will be released at the same time as the album on September 20th
JUST FINISHED WATCHING "NIGHTWISH THE DAY OF" IL!DID IT BUT WATCHED THE OTHERS FIRST AND I ENJOYED THEM BUT I ENJOYED "PHANTOM OF THE OPERA" THE BEST,BOTH SINGERS.

Hope the move went well. I am sure you are happy it is over. Tons of work. I bet you have a few boxes left to unpack? You set him up for that "Coach is always right", Mrs. Coach. Don't let fear control your life. The world is coming to an end if you listen to the fearmongers. It has been around since mankind has existed.
I think you were spot on....hope emerging from the deluge of fears, many imagined or foisted upon us. Loved seeing the y2k and others that came and went.
Tuomas said this video is about the way people are controlled through fear mongering. The Mayan / Inca / Aztec imagery in the video illustrates that this is a very old strategy. The girl with the rose represents people who don't allow themselves to be frightened into conformity. The children's choir represents hope and the fear mongering Floor joins them in the end.
Visually stunning - if scary - video, and I love the vocals and instrumentals... and that it ends with a hopeful note with the blooming flower. I'm going to have to go and find the lyrics, though, to be able to understand the underlying themes... Well that didn't take long. Basically, they're advising us to take the panic-mongering news headlines with a pinch of salt, and do a little research to find out what's *really* happening... 🙄
Hey! Just watched all of the slipknot videos! I was wondering if you could react to their new performances as their new drummer is PHENOMINAL, Eloy is known as the best drummer of all time now so thats pretty cool. The best one to watch is disasterpiece at Pappy and Harriets 4 months ago. I know you loved that song so that'd be cool if you started back on them. Also Corey Taylor snuff live is a must as well please
@@CoachCastTV it has been a while. Those 2 performances are definitely amazing. Its the 25th anniversary of their first album and that performance is their first with Eloy. But snuff was one mrs. Coach enjoyed due to it not being crazy, it was beautiful but that performance was recommended to yous before so defo do that
Very cinematic video. I can actually say that this is one of the only Nightwish songs that I don’t care for. Very Interesting, but not going into my playlist.
I’m a die hard NW fan since the 90’s. Tuomas has written plenty of masterpieces for many years, but I will be honest and say that his creativity peaked with the Imaginaerum album on 2011. After that album (coincidentally after Floor joined), it’s pretty much the same old recycled stuffs that had been done before, except that it was way better before than it is now (and has been in the last 10 years). I strongly recommend you guys to dig into their early stuffs so you understand how their sound develops over the years.
Welcome back. I was thinking of you guys a couple days ago. We noticed your absence and knew what you were going through. The only thing that comes close to sucking as much as moving is taking inventory at some business. Both are about as bad as it gets. Hope you enjoy your new place. On to new Nightwish. The Day Of . . . - - holy smokes. So many references to real and imagined control by fear. A few lines really hit home to me. "fear of the well known" - "a million ropes form the hang man" - "new virus sent you back into your cave" - "hide the unshot guns". I think back to the early days of the pandemic when we built huge tent hospitals around the country and nobody showed up. How was that entire pandemic event not a test to see what is required to implement the controls that were heaped on us? Alot to discuss here but the message seems to be fairly clear. Please don' forget to go back and react to "Shudder Before the Beautiful" It's a chin dropper. Mrs. Coach might go into vapor lock it's so good.
The song gets better on every listen.
"'The Day Of...' delivers a message of hope and deliverance from the deluge of fear..Greetings from Finland 🤘🤘
You can definitely what you want to be.
Always let’s go children
I’m here to my friends.

Thanks. Greetings from South Africa.
Nightwish in mode Pink Floid
You were quite spot on with your first idea on the context of the song
Thanks!
On the first time I dont like this music, my expectation was for something more heavy. But now I love it. This turn better and better on each listen
Nightwish are currently 2 steps ahead in videomaking

I disagree, I believe they got great in 2012. And are getting better and better.
Nightwish are bored, they want the world to end, hahaha, or they know something more than we do
🇬🇧 Norfolk: so much to unpick from this music and video

Yeah, moving is not fun but it's over now and life has definitely improved. Great comment, thanks for taking the time!
