I anxiously await further videos on this subject. My trigs and HDL are excellent but LDL is 218. Of course my doctor suggested a statin. Instead, I asked for an NMR profile and he refused and said "I don't even know what that is". We need more knowledgeable, level headed people like you Dorothy.

Love these cholesterol videos! Keep making them. Do a video on small vrs large LDL particles, and how come I (a weekend youtube guy) knows more about this than my Dr does.

So happy to see a series dedicated to the mystery of cholesterol. Now wish our GPs would embark on common sense learning of how to help to maintain proper levels without prescribing statins, unnecessarily. Thank you for the latest video.
Happy New Year and all the best for 2022 to you and your channel.

Thank you for this. I can’t wait for the next one explaining more in detail. I have high cholesterol and the doctor said something about an enzyme. I don’t know if I’m missing that enzyme and if so, how to get it. Tried to give me statins for several years but I refuse to take it.

I went off my statin last March & started intermittent fasting. In Sept. I had bloodwork & my cholesterol doubled & my LDL went up too. My Dr. was apoplectic & sent me to a cardiologist. My triglycerides are excellent & my LDL is high & the ratio of Tris/HDL is superb. But none of that counted to my Dr & cardiologist. Go back on statins they said. I said no.

I have borderline high cholesterol and don’t take statins despite all prescriptions given to me. Lately I developed a cough. It stayed with me for about three weeks; simply hydrated myself well. Every time I cough, the phlegm and mucous can be heard so strongly. But I am so surprised because the color of my phlegm has always been clear all throughout the three weeks. First time I had clear phlegm and was happy. So now I can deduce my high cholesterol protected me from developing an infection in my lungs. Thank you !!!

if your GP is prescribing statins for high cholesterol ask for a calcium score to confirm plaque before complying.

No one should ever comply with a GP prescribing statins! There are other underlying factors contributing to elevated cholesterol levels. If it is genetic, sadly, statins would be the prescribed approach. But for the average individual, proper whole foods diet and controlling carb and high protein intake ( do not want to induce gluconeogenesis ) and daily periodic exercise will help.

    Thank you very much Dorothy..
    Very helpful..it is a lot ..
    I have a question
I know the liver is responsible for cholesterol..and the gall bladder
What happens when the gall bladder is removed
I have read about it..it is not necessarily a good think aa we need all our organs God gave us..
Would you please discuss this specifically and how it affects our body and health
    Thank You sincerely.
    God Bless You!!!!

I'm thin and my cholesterol is 230.i would not take a statin to control cholesterol level. I'm not at a risk for heart attack.Finding the root cause is key.inflammation is why so many people have heart attacks

Question you mentioned a healthy gallbladder in order to remove cholesterol on a previus video . How about indiviaudals with no gallbladder?

    • @LiveUthing
      @LiveUthing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Gallbladder only stores and releases the bile on demand. It does not participate in its production. If bile release is insufficient during high fat meal (which may be the case when GB is missing), lipases, or ox bile may be very beneficial.

You are ignoring remnant cholesterol, triglyceride/hdl ratio, fasting insulin and a1c, inflammation markers, as supporting numbers when assessing a "high cholesterol" result.
If cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease as you said, why be concerned if it is high all the time when there are no other factors indicating risk

Thank you for the comment. Please watch my other videos and wait for the upcoming ones to get the whole picture. Showing understanding of intricate details maybe good for the ego, but it's not a good education strategy. I prefer simplicity.
