There was a study done around the world. Where citizens of all walks of life were given 10,000 Dollars. Some paid bills, some went on trips some saved. All had a similar response 6 months later. That 10,000 Dollars bought them happiness.
I’ve never been able to put a word to that feeling, until now. Lachesism is something I’ve felt since I was a young teen. Thank you for introducing me to this concept.
I've been putting myself through some stuff for the past couple of years. Things I didn't want to do, but I did anyway. And I realised, above all else, above politics and opinion, I did it because I felt so anxious, I needed to apply it to something. Something that seemed big and indescribable and world crushing. I made myself hit rock bottom after the constant uncontrollable anxiety became too much. At least I could control it then. And I didn't realise it was self destructive behaviour only until recently. You keep perpetuating it because you think you need it. And through these experiences, it made me realise.
1: I am not alone.
2: I can really hold a grudge.
3: I desperately want to be tough. To stare into the eyes of someone 7 feet taller than me and be uncaring. I want to be objective and win.
But thats wrong. To care is a gift. We must craft our care. See it for what it is. Who it effects. Don't ask yourself why you care, because probably you won't be able to control it. Instead, learn that something harsh or bad or brutal does not make caring or empathy any less valuable, and yes, this does apply to yourself. Take care of yourself. Don't pummel yourself into a corner because you want to be someone else. Don't bring yourself down, add to yourself. Gain new perspectives and experiences outside of violent outbursts. Don't control your emotion, experience it, analyse it, and come to a better understanding. Knowledge doesn't defeat anxiety, understanding does.

Well done :> Stories are a way to remind us that everyone goes through this to one degree or another. And that is a great comfort when feeling alone in despair.

You made me cry... I remembered my mom's death.
So sorry for your loss! I actually started reflecting on this more when my mom had a cancer scare last year (50/50 chance after first exam). I could already feel my world crumbling and seeing her cry and the despair in my dad's eyes was horrific. We were unbelievably lucky that it turned out benign but it did make me think a lot.

Great essay. Only thing I’d suggest is lowering the tempo a bit. These are quite deep and layers topics and speaking with a bit of slower pace and putting some clips that allow you to have a break a digest what was just said would make it easier to contextualise what was just said ans actually soak it in. Definitely agree that rock bottom mythologising has very little to do with real world personal advancement. Personally I've always disliked the "scorched-earth burn-it-down-to-start-anew" attitude to development, especially when it is turned outward upon society at large. It is a hugely presumptuous, arrogant way to treat the world, and misunderstands the cyclical nature of history and political philosophy.

Most give up when trying for betterment, because they immediately realize the grind upon start.
This is the exact reason why people descend to chaos and remain there or die.
There is that thing that results in the self justification of "Aah never mind, I don't care anyway".
The "thing" is a reason that once was practical, good and just, but since has lost its use.
The "thing" and reason is attached and associated in the subconscious mind to worlds of identity.
One does not simply drop all identity and self worth and history in order to rebuild.
One does not drop it all, rebuild and emerge all enlightened.
Because that is physically and psychologically absolutely impossible.
Why? Because the brain has no concept of forgetting. The brain does not delete.
Thus the worlds of identity is still there, even after emerging from hell.
And that is the reason why nearly all who go to hell, stay in hell.
The more clever way to find chaos and disaster is obviously to embrace the shaddow that C. G. Jung talked about.
To know the demons name is to know where it wreaks havoc. To have the high ground is to know where and how to strategically steere and control the demon.
Seems simple, but isn't. We all are blind to who we are and we don't battle with one but many shaddows and demons.
But we humans are strongest in numbers. With the help of others we are able to find the demons.
