Destroyer : Hardest class to play well, but the most rewarding when done right. Requires the highest level of situation awareness, which is something many (most?) players lack. The average player's destroyer game seems to be: rush blindly forward, start gunning and torping, die in the first 3 minutes. Destroyer play needs not only situational awareness, but risk management assessment skills. Great double strike by the way, haven't seen one in a while.
For new destroyer captains, this video is a really good start and there is a lot to get you rolling. With that said, it's nonsense for advanced play. Every single DD is different with their own unique strengths and weaknesses, what they are really good at doing, etc. As a DD, getting caps is not even remotely always the priority as there are many play types with them that will help you win more games.. You can go gunboat, stealth, speed, various range torps with different performance profiles, recon, AA, etc. There is absolutely no such thing as one type of playstyle for DDs. Play through several tiers in each line to figure out HOW you want to play then target those types of ships. As well, do yourself a favor and wean off Twist and Track as soon as you can, it's a lazy skill that will hold you back from taking the step from being a good DD captain to an elite captain.
This video was a good example of the dd dilemma, chase the kills or get the caps. In this case you was fortunate you made the right decision ( i would of capped out C too but i would have hung around the 20 odd seconds you needed to reload the torps on the bismark) But what if you chased the kills and took em out with your torps, you still would have won but now run the risk of not killing the ships and then losing. My general rule of thumb is if i can cap quicker than i can kill a ship I'll cap.
My torpedo hit rate is about 8%. I don't employ strategies that have single digit chances of success. Control the bases, throw torps out while you're at it. Much more reliable strategy
@@TbullGaming my torp hit rate is just as bad and im pretty much a dd main now 😂 in my defence i do like to play the benham. Yeah your play was 100% the right one, the way the match played out if you did wait to try and sink the bizzy and missed you probs would have lost. No complaints here on your play, just food for thought👍
Yes, sir! All day long. Pulled a Tri-Fecta yesterday. Cap B (where I started) then all three Red DDs which decided to come to B and topped it off with a King George V which decided to take B. Literally, never left B for the whole match. More importantly, the CAs and BBs held their positions at A and C caps supporting as well. One of those games where everything clicked. Great team play.
Thank God for BullBites sponsoring Lil John’s appearance in today’s episode! I can’t believe that Bismarck went down he had over half health. Probably hit damage control to soon and got hit with multiple fires.
TBull, I don’t care what the masses say, your Lil’ Jon impression (10:13) was on point! Thanks for the thoughtful strategy talk and looking forward to the cruiser edition.
Love seeing these kinds of games posted - I feel like I have them whenever I play a DD. Low damage, but 2-3 caps, lots of defender ribbons, and 15 minute games. I still struggle sometimes with what to do in a DD in capture the base though.
More people need to see this. To many noobs like to hide behind battleships and throw torps. You job is to spot and get flags first..everything else is a bonus. Idk why, but it always seems to be PlayStation kids that haven't got a clue on how to play destroyers.
Gr8 video Tbull, even tho I’ve been in the game 2 years, you can never stop learning. Let’s hope others take something from this video. Thanks shipmate😎
Great game, it always seem counter intuitive when you realize you've played through half a game with causing any damage, but the leaderboard always proves the point
I always say I would prefer to have on my team a DD that got 3 caps and did no damage to one that did 100k damage with no caps (in domination mode obviously).
I have not played in about 6 months. Come back and in my first game back (in the Warspite) and I'm face-palming blue team's DD play. Some things never change. I wish more players would not just watch your vids but learn from them as well.
Great vid! Learned alot from the channel so thank you. I really like the USN dd line, what would be your advice for mutliple radar cruisers in domination? I usually try to get close to the cap and zone torp and spot them without going in the cap to give away my position.
The Jervis lost the game from puck drop as you put it. Not contesting the B cap is questionable but going to the side that is already capped is plain wrong. Well played by you.
That was a game that could have been won by either team until about 30 seconds left. That said, red could have won this one by 500 points if plays from both teams were executed differently.
if there were CVs in the game... none of your decisions or math would have mattered 👮♂ lol 4 captures is a full carry in any book. That's the power of Fishy's 4 short sprint engine boosts
I Struggle with Torps. Very good main gun aim usually, but torpedos man... Im watching you shoot the torps right where the aiming arc is and whenever i do that...the target ship wisely moves. Is it not better to aim (if 2 shots are available) before and after the auto aim guide? I rarely connect with torpedos. Sometimes i try a wide spread then a narrow spread in the same area. If i shoot ahead or behind, they always know they have time to avoid. Even battleships. Is there a way to make a destroyer that shoots 4 x 2 or 2 x4, single shot? One at a time? I have a destroyer (forget which one) that allowed that, and i played better with it since i could choose myself how wide the 4 or 3 or 2 torps would be, and time them unpredictably so the enemy ship didnt know which way to turn. I would basically go in a large arc, shoot 1 torp 1 direction, wait a few seconds, shoot 1 the other direction, creating an X, but keep doing in. Usually guaranteed at least 1 hit. Often more. While dodging salvos. But these "only 4 come out all at once" torp shots i cant figure out where to aim they always get avoided, unless the ship is stuck/confined "Situational Awareness" is not easy to discern. Only..."Theres a ship, its shooting at me, turn towards ship, but, must be moving fast in their direction or away in order to turn fast enough to not be broadside, turn sideways, fire torps, shoot guns as much as possible at target while dodging their 25+ seconds apart shots" "Oh..their destroyer is right there. Oh look torpedoes i cant avoid. Oh battleship full salvo. Dead." I just dont know what to do. If i hang back, teammates get mad, they want spots. They want smoke. Idk where to smoke. Cant hang back anyways. Most torps dont go past 6km. Furubuka or w/e has like 9.3km torps but TERRIBLE guns. I have good battles here n there. 2 or 3 kills, 5k-40k damage. First Blood. Flood Ribbons etc. But so few n far between. Im a WoT Veteran and only MOE 5 tanks ever, all in cold war ffs. Clearly im a slow learner, but when it finally clicks, it clicks. And i found what type of tanker i am but i took like 8 years to figure it out. Im sick of being a shitty WOWS player. Would be nice to have a buĺletpoint list of like...things to constantly have in mind while in each ship type. When Battle Starts As a Destroyer Always have in Mind: 1. example 1..lol 2....etc Cause right now its only "try not to get shot" "try to avoid torpedoes" "Work together with your teammates" is not a helpful statement, its just an obvious thought one should have. Anyhoo, aný insights would be amazing and appreciated. Big thanks to anyone who got this far, take care :)
How are you not being spotted by the iowa and helena? Im not sure what the detection range is of the yudachi when firing but im pretty sure its around 7 to 8km...
That last 5 mins or so was dictated by red controlling the game at that point. You either have to take risks or concede when you're down by a certain amount
@@TbullGaming Oh not saying you squeaked by in a negative way. Just saying I felt like this video did more to show case high level decision making rather than how to properly play Destroyer at any level.

Okay, now I regret buying destroyer. Still, I am only tier 3, so not much of a burden.
I've also found that when I went to branch from American brawlers to Japanese stealth that my playstyle just within destroyers doesn't translate well.
