i watched 2:33 mins of this video then went to lowes and bought this for $2.50 and this thing worked in less than 3 mins. Thank you so much for posting.
My drain was SO clogged would take over an hour to drain. The amount of gunk and hair this thing pulled out was INSANE. If the tool felt stuck, I wiggled a bit as to not yank it so hard as to break it and I had no issues at all. Take your time. This tool is amazing.
Bought the Cobra Snake at Lowe's ($2.66, includes tax) and this morning snaked the hair clogging the bathtub drain. Wore rubber gloves ;) Now the drain is flowing again, and you saved me much money I'm sure. Thanks so much for sharing this!
Thank u after viewing this video last night,I went straight to d 99cents Store and Bought 2 just in case 1 broke, but Lo and behold it worked great it sure did pull out d hair and d water is draining good Now 👍
Thank you, I had like two pounds of hair inside I could not open the drain cap (don't know, tried everything, nothing worked) I spent tens of dollars on remedies as plumbers are very expensive in my area, until I watched your video, 2.97 CAD after tax and I got two of those things from Home Depot and there we go, 5 minutes of work and I extracted the biggest chunk of hair I have ever seen in my life, thank you sooooooooooo much My wife is gonna be so happy when she comes back from vacation, this has been on our nerves like for a year
I have one of these. Had mine about 4 years. It came as a free bonus with a bottle of drain cleaner I bought years ago. I no longer buy drain cleaner thanks to this. Little did the cleaner company know, but by providing this they most likely lowered their liquid cleaner sales. Their packaging said to throw it away after one use, but I did not. I kept this and use this every time the bath tub gets clogged. I cant figure out how to remove the stopper so I go around it very delicately. My zip still works and barbs are in tact. I wipe it with lysol when I am done and store it.
Taking the plug out, and putting a hair catcher in there, will also keep this from happening. With a hair catcher, I auger mine about once a year, to keep it clear. Even only doing it once a year, I pull out very little hair. The catcher gets most of it.
Very helpful ....watch it at least twice.....zip it did not work in my case but try all three methods first. If all else fails by the gel declogger and read directions
Great video! but it was hilarious when you mentioned " LOOK AT THAT MATERIAL!" And "he's touching it he's touching it " pretty sure if you heard yourself you laughed too. Why because that "material you mentioned sir is HAIR! 🤣
Twice. Plus, my hands were raw by the time i finally had to give up because it snapped. Also, i only got hair once for every 8 times i stuck it in. Fuck those things. Went and got me a rigid kwik-spin
I pulled mine out and I pulled so hard that it broke the ring around the hole there. Luckily the plastic thing did not break off and I removed a shit load of hair and gunk. So, I like to use this little sucker. lol
If he'd taken the drain plug cap off to expose the crossbars in fixed part of drain, he'd have done a much better, easier job of cleaning. And not wrecked his Zip so badly, as well.
L Barrett i just did the exact same thing this gentleman did in the video.. and i was thinking about how easy it would be if i had been able to pull that thing out.. my question is.. how do you pull it out? i would greatly appreciate an answer...have a nice day!!
OMG I normally do the whole pulling the stopper out, I get my snake or my chemicals and it takes me anywhere from 15-45 minutes to complete my process..... I had bought a 2 pack of these at Walmart for like $3 and I had 1 left over. I had used the other after my snake last time I took apart my pipes to get anything leftover... So, my tub was draining really slow lately so I figured I'd give this a try.. there's no way this thing is going around my stopper, I said to myself.... EXACTLY 3.5 minutes it took. I put on some plastic gloves and shoved this sucker around my stopper. I pulled up TWO fist fulls of hair. Then I tried with my sink for good measure. Pulled up a quarter size gunk.. Threw it ALL away in the garbage and rinsed everything down. PERFECT! I will never go through the snaking process or chemicals again if I can help it. HOLY SMOKES THANK YOU A MILLION!!!!
Looks like cheap crap. I've successfully opened a tub drain with a shop vac. It was on the second floor so more pipe to clear. I had fought with landlord over this drain and was fed up. Drain wasn't blocked all the way but drained slow enough to have water to my ankles while showering. While tub was full of water I grabbed end of hose on shop vac and used my hand to create a better seal. The water surprisingly helped me pull out a ton of old stuff. Shampoo bottle caps, kids matchbox cars, and so on. I worked for an hour or so and had the drain at about 85% . It was nice to see water actually draining faster than shower could fill it.
slmnkh I can't wait to use this for my house cuz we really need this so bad cuz I have 2 big dogs and all those hairs What section did u buy this from Walmart? Please
Raymond Suman where they had bathroom fixtures like seat covers, taps etc. not in the cleaning section. ask a Walmart employee for a snake tool for a clogged drain, you'll find it. and it works! good luck
Grab the knob on stopper. It twist off and you'll see a screw with flathead screwdriver take out. Simple as pie. Put on rubber gloves and pull hair out. Less than 3 minutes and whalah. A done deal.
Don't make assumptions... the hair clogs that we have had were mostly from my husband's long hair. (When I say long, I mean he's cut it 3 times since we've been a couple - each time a minimum of 13 inches.)
@@jasmynrivera9559 well I have long hair actually I just cut off 7 inches recently but it still comes down to my shoulders ..but what I have learned is I wash it in the kitchen sink where I have one of those things you can buy at the dollar store that will cover the drain and catch hair...
this video killed two birds with one stone. #1. Gave me knowledge to unclog my drain (which is why I'm watching), plus reminder to wear gloves. #2. Lose my lunch.
hope not to sound like a butchy gal. since I'm not. I just replaced the metal drain 'works' in my guest bath tub. But I digress. ..I imagine your tub drain has a heavy turn pull up/drop down stopper? or push up/down? very simply pull up and turn it out. there are likely a + or × shaped fixed piece that the stopper screws into. easily 4 or 5 ? twists comes out.
i watched 2:33 mins of this video then went to lowes and bought this for $2.50 and this thing worked in less than 3 mins. Thank you so much for posting.
Thank you, i wanted to see if someone tried it. I’ll go get one today, my bathtub desperately needs it.
I used a wire hanger. Straighten the wire hanger, use pliers to make a small hook at the end of one side. Insert in drain to pull hair out.
My drain was SO clogged would take over an hour to drain. The amount of gunk and hair this thing pulled out was INSANE. If the tool felt stuck, I wiggled a bit as to not yank it so hard as to break it and I had no issues at all. Take your time. This tool is amazing.
Kudos to you, George, for sacrificing your eww factor to help the rest of us do a pretty simple repair.
Oh ya let’s unclog it and put it right back in the drain 👍🏽👍🏽
Lol
If it's small pieces it will just go down and not get stuck.
Exactly I would’ve thrown it away in fear of it happening again lol
Bought the Cobra Snake at Lowe's ($2.66, includes tax) and this morning snaked the hair clogging the bathtub drain. Wore rubber gloves ;) Now the drain is flowing again, and you saved me much money I'm sure. Thanks so much for sharing this!
He's touchin it he's touchin it! ;)
I almost just puked
I'm not even as gross out by sewage as I am this. NASTY!
"Look at that material" 😂😂
I just followed his advice. It worked and saved me $200 plumber’s bill. 🙏🏽
Thank u after viewing this video last night,I went straight to d 99cents Store and Bought 2 just in case 1 broke, but Lo and behold it worked great it sure did pull out d hair and d water is draining good Now 👍
I’ve been using it for about 3 yrs now, works tremendously.
Wow, thanks for the suggestion on the Zip-it tool. Had a stopper that would not break free, so I used the Zip-it tool, and it worked perfectly.
Thank you, I had like two pounds of hair inside
I could not open the drain cap (don't know, tried everything, nothing worked)
I spent tens of dollars on remedies as plumbers are very expensive in my area, until I watched your video, 2.97 CAD after tax and I got two of those things from Home Depot and there we go, 5 minutes of work and I extracted the biggest chunk of hair I have ever seen in my life, thank you sooooooooooo much
My wife is gonna be so happy when she comes back from vacation, this has been on our nerves like for a year
Lol at him calling that nastiness "Material"
But nice video I think I'll go buy one.
A friend loan this cobra thing to me but I didn't know how to use it. Thank you for the video. My drain is fine now
I bought and used this gadget. It worked really well especially with the drain stop removed!!! Great price too!
OK I'm on my way to Home Depot - THANK YOU!!! I really appreciate you sharing this information.!!!
Thanks for this I got one at CVS for $6 I was having trouble and after I used it a big clump came out and now the drain is more better nown
Dude, I just did exactly what you did and it worked perfectly. Thanks brah!
I just bought this and it worked beautifully, thanks a bunch
Thank you very much! Worked for me on a few drains!
-stay at home mom of three boys
Thanks dude il go try this right now and let ya know if it worked
Edit: wow it actually worked! highly recommend
you can unscrew that stopper if you just grab it and turn it left until it comes off .
That was a great tip! Thank you for posting it. :)
Thanks just what I need to know 👍🏼
I've tried but can't seem to unscrew it. Does it come up higher to lift it or?
Mine won't come out
What is up with men and using their bare hands to do these things🤨
Were not afraid to get our hands dirty 😋
@Hiitsnick1 my guinea pigs pooped in the tub and months of poop is in the drain
I'm female and I use my bare hands, it's my hair. :). Plus I'm a serious hand washer!
I recommend taking the top of the bath tub part off first and then using it. It was way more effective
It worked :) Thanks for sharing this simple way. My zip it cost 2.48.
Great video! but it was hilarious when you mentioned " LOOK AT THAT MATERIAL!" And "he's touching it he's touching it "
pretty sure if you heard yourself you laughed too. Why because that "material you mentioned sir is HAIR! 🤣
And soap scum... and skin cells... and all of the other icky things that come out of the crevices of the human body. But mostly hair.... mostly.
Mines not working!
2:47 after going through all that effort to get the material out of the drain and he just washes it back into the drain 🤣
Life saver. Unpleasant to look at but I am infinetely thankful
“Look at his MaTeRiAl”
Thank you! I wouldn't have known about this if I hadn't seen this video. Probably saved me a lot of hassle.
That looks awesome, but where do you get that ToOl?
Where did u buy the zip in?
The magic of TH-cam, you are awesome where are your gloves??? Yeaks!!! Thank youuu 👍🤲🙏🤗
I used this once, and it snapped right in half. Be carful, guys. The broken piece could fall down the drain and be impossible to get out.
Z Stone happened to me.
So, I like to use this little sucker. lol
You were too tough with it
Z Stone, were you able to get the broken piece out? If yes, how? My wife just gave me the news then handed me the top piece....
If he'd taken the drain plug cap off to expose the crossbars in fixed part of drain, he'd have done a much better, easier job of cleaning. And not wrecked his Zip so badly, as well.
L Barrett i just did the exact same thing this gentleman did in the video.. and i was thinking about how easy it would be if i had been able to pull that thing out.. my question is.. how do you pull it out? i would greatly appreciate an answer...have a nice day!!
kevin Roscoe
Turn it counter clockwise. It takes a while, but eventually it comes out.
It is very quick to come out. Either the stopper or drain 'spud' itself.
Turning counterclockwise is the basic idea with removing either....
To take mine out, I need to unscrew it w a screwdriver.
OMG I normally do the whole pulling the stopper out, I get my snake or my chemicals and it takes me anywhere from 15-45 minutes to complete my process..... How do you take off the pop up stopper ?
I have one of those. thanks for the video....i have the same drain....
What not take the drain stopper out first?
Thank you very much for the video, you saved my day :)
Thanks for the video. You gave me a good idea, I'll use long zip ties i have I'll just make the spikes and tara hopefully it will work lol
Where did u buy it ?
What can i make with said material asking for a friend
Where did u purchase it?? Can u get at Lowes or Menards?
I want to know how to get the damn stopper out I'm trying for 2 days off and on
Worked for me. Thanks.
i used a bobby pin lol worked perfectly!
Looks like cheap crap. I've successfully opened a tub drain with a shop vac. It was on the second floor so more pipe to clear. I had fought with landlord over this drain and was fed up. Chad Harmon What did you do? I tried to clean my drain but there is literally no hair + I'm in a condo
I wonder if my 1/18 model car mirror is still in my drain after a year...
I found a similar item at my Walmart store, looks like this item is really for bathroom sink drain instead of a bathtub drain.
thank you so much this help me a lot
thank u. it saved me a lot of money
How much was it?
Dude, just unscrew the top drain plug first.
Paul Allan I know right?
How to unscrew this kinda cover? Mine keeps spinning but just can’t take it Out.
How to take it out?
How do u unscrew it? Mines just keeps turning
One can easily purchase a screen that fits over this type of stopper to prevent further nastiness.
CAREFUL!! IF it breaks/snaps while in the drain... I am sure some 4 letter words will start flying.
Thanks, Geo!
What's the name ?
Plz tell me where did u buy that took from?
i found exactly this at walmart
Raymond Suman Wa
slmnkh I can't wait to use this for my house cuz we really need this so bad cuz I have 2 big dogs and all those hairs
What section did u buy this from Walmart? Please
Raymond Suman where they had bathroom fixtures like seat covers, taps etc. not in the cleaning section. ask a Walmart employee for a snake tool for a clogged drain, you'll find it. and it works! good luck
You can buy it for $1.99 at Menards. I was having a hard time getting it down the drain and mine was open!
Unscrew the knob on top of the drain and there's a screw under it to take off the drain stopper
I couldn't get the screw out to remove the drain stopper, so I did actually what the video guy did & it worked perfectly :)
Why are most drains designed like this. I rarely see the strainer style anymore. I just don't get it.
Jerlemi2 the Democrats
Good to know i think i'll go buy one.
Material?
There is a screw under the ball part on top. Unscrew it to make access easier.
Grab the knob on stopper. It twist off and you'll see a screw with flathead screwdriver take out. Simple as pie. Put on rubber gloves and pull hair out. Less than 3 minutes and whalah. A done deal.
All the people gagging the second he touched the “material” right now ✋🏽
Thanks Ryan Reynolds.
"If this was open it would probably be a little easier"....ya think???
nice job..thumbs up
The drain unscrew to the left
To prevent this from recurring in the future, get rid of the woman with the long hair.
George Rivera Rude lol giving him the Ultimatum. Have a clogged bathtub drain or be single forever. Unless he likes bald women, problem not solved lol
Don't make assumptions... the hair clogs that we have had were mostly from my husband's long hair. (When I say long, I mean he's cut it 3 times since we've been a couple - each time a minimum of 13 inches.)

watching your video and I have the same drain you avr a screw under that cao
I NEED THIS GADGET
Umm so you clean the drain then put the hair back in
I am curious why didn't remove the drain stop?
He said he was trying to keep it simple for this video. Removing the stop may be easy for you but confusing to many.
I bought that gadget and it broke off in the drain in about ten seconds! Now I have to take apart the drain and fish it out. Not happy
So, he washed it in the tub, and that put some of the hair back in the drain....smart.
Why dont use flex tape
I 100% said "EW HE'S TOUCHING IIIT"
Take some weed eater coil string and double it up, take a knife and knotch in some barbs and make a pull handle. Should work relatively the same.
Thanks!
this video killed two birds with one stone. #1. Gave me knowledge to unclog my drain (which is why I'm watching), plus reminder to wear gloves. #2. Lose my lunch.
I use long straw cut down each flute ,then flush
Dean Murray I followed your advice and it worked really great with a straw!
how do i do it without buying any tools because my parents will kill me if they found out i clogged it
I clicked on this to find out how to take the stoper out, i did not get an awnser
Next time get a removeable stopper and buy a hair stopper to cover your drain.
Take the drain cap off. It takes about 20 seconds. Then clean the trap and use the snake gadget. 5 min job.
yuk... it works and no chemicals.
Grody to the max!!
who lives with you
hope not to sound like a butchy gal. since I'm not. I just replaced the metal drain 'works' in my guest bath tub. I found one of those tools at the 99 cent store.
Eww hes touchin it. He's touchin it!
That is how was wigs are made yep I just ruined Halloween for myself
It looked like he was pulling squid out of the bathtub
