Just binge watched Season 3. The entire original cast has drank from the fountain of youth. Hard to believe Ralph, Billy and Elizabeth are pushing 60 and Martin Kove is in his mid-70s.
Arvin Borkar That’s not really retconning the entire first movie though. I think it maybe tries to summarize in a 10 second clip what they’re saying he went through immediately after the events of the first movie (which even though he’s seen handing Daniel the trophy and seemingly changing his ways, he may have become bitter in the weeks and months that followed). I don’t think changing that one minor detail is akin to retconning the entire movie.
He has class. She appeared disrespectful towards RM, stating that she didnt't believe he could play the part. Thing is, that's why he was given the part, so the audience would believe it too. He pulled it of masterfully.
Personally I don’t think she was being disrespectful…I think it was more just her first impressions of him (perhaps physically?) ….something we as humans all make and do. She didn't disrespect him or question his acting skill. She doubted he had the physicality to portray karate skills. Shue is considered one of the nicest people in Hollywood.
Having Ali return would be so freaking amazing I can't even! I'd also like to find out if Kumiko's dream to become a dancer was realized. Even if it never shows her, it'd be nice if they could just have a line of dialogue where she is mentioned, and where we find out what happened to her. I believe in the third movie Daniel mentions that Kumiko was attending a dance school back east, but that doesn't guarantee that she succeeded in her dream.
They had to end the relationship so that Daniel could have a romantic interest in Japan, simple as that. And it had to keep everyone thinking of Daniel as the "good guy".

Yes. I saw an interview with Shue wherein she said she was better at soccer (when he was teaching her how to dribble) and was surprised he was picked for the part.
I thought the exact same thing. I got the sense that Ralph was not part of the “cool kids club” back then. It was everyone else hanging out together, and Ralph. It sounds like Zabka and Ralph are now friends, but I don’t think it was always the case. Just my take. 🤷🏻

Just my theory, but it comes across to me like Shue is still caught up in judging people based on their status in Hollywood. I can guarantee she would never say anything negative about Tom Cruise.
Yeah I remember being pissed of that Ali had been written out like that. I didn’t even feel that it fitted her character that she would run off with the college jock. Hope they bring her back for season 3. Cobra Kai has been awesome thus far.
How ironic that Elizabeth Shue lost out on the Karate Kid sequel but then scored the Jennifer Parker role in the Back to the Future sequels when Claudia Wells decided not to return. Life has a way of working itself out!

Great interview with Ralph Macchio! Daniel-San the Karate Kid himself. It would be so cool if they brought back Elisabeth Shue in some capacity for Cobra Kai Season 3.
I need to check out the new series (beyond the first 3 episodes), but I feel like a "reconnecting with first love Ali" storyline where Ralph struggles with his commitment to his wife would be a very real place to go to in a series where we've been learning that not everyone is simply a "good guy" or "bad guy." PS I think the "great story" headline refers to the fact that we learn that Elisabeth Shue wanted to be a part of the sequels and that by association, fans who really loved Ali and their relationship, can believe that in an alt-universe, "Ali" maintains her status as "perfect girlfriend."

There was no reason to have her in KK2. What was she going to do, go to Okinawa with him? Be his pen pal? They had to get rid of her. The way they did it showed some flightiness to her character, in keeping with the way she dumped Johnny. It'll be interesting to see if she returns to Cobra Kai as an available love interest. Keep in mind, she only had a few months with Daniel, but I think Johnny said they had a couple of years. That's a lot more baggage.
I was 18 when the original karate kid was released Shue was like 20 I was immediately in love. If you look at their careers, shue would be doing Cobra Kia or whatever a giant favor to do a cameo. Although she doesn’t really fit in a story line a new Okinawan girl love interest, she’s never been a super star but certainly had bigger fish to fry that flogging the same character over multiple movies
I liked the movie Ralph starred in. It was a true story about Robert Garwood the last p.o.w. to leave Vietnam in 1978. Great movie based on true story.
In the Karate Kid dvd commentary, Avildsen is just like "Yeah, Elizabeth wanted too much money. Sooo...don't be greedy if you want to be in the movie." LOL
😂 I enjoyed the story but I have to agree. It was a good story about ES. She wasn’t in the sequel for pretty much the reasons you logically expected....but it’s still cool to hear the story 🤷🏻♂️
I always felt like that was such a strange character write off. She ran off with some jock?! That didn't seem like her at all, if I were Ali with an "I" I think I would have felt the same way. They could have her going off to school abroad and the long distance wouldn't work..something other than what they wrote. Johnny may have been a flawed character but there was depth beneath the surface.

I was very young when j saw tht movie n all i knew is, i wanted her even though i didn't know wht tht meant at the time. So fcking gorgous. The very begjning, Then he kissed me song where she is getting dressed for her date. The movie still holds up to this day
Great interview with Ralph Macchio! Daniel-San the Karate Kid himself. It would be so cool if they brought back Elisabeth Shue in some capacity for Cobra Kai Season 3.
I wanna see Chozen comeback pretty sure he would mop the floor with Terry or Mike
That would be awesome 💯
I need to check out the new series (beyond the first 3 episodes), but I feel like a "reconnecting with first love Ali" storyline where Ralph struggles with his commitment to his wife would be a very real place to go to in a series where we've been learning that not everyone is simply a "good guy" or "bad guy." PS I think the "great story" headline refers to the fact that we learn that Elisabeth Shue wanted to be a part of the sequels and that by association, fans who really loved Ali and their relationship, can believe that in an alt-universe, "Ali" maintains her status as "perfect girlfriend."
Dude, it's Ali with an i. She says so herself.
@@JU57US I'm so embarrassed. I can't believe I made that mistake. haha. I'm going to go paint some fences now as punishment. (and also edit my post to correctly spell her name.) [hangs head in shame.]
Elizabeth Shue should have returned for KK3.
Love Shue, def first crush
SHE'S GOTTA COME BACK!!!!! All the characters need to come back
If you thought this was a great story, you should get evaluated
This is so cool, I hope they find a way back on set together.
I was 4 when it came out...still one of my favorites
Makes you wonder if this is what happened with the Dutch actor as well since he didnt come back for the beginning of the second movie . So Randi Heller, Liz Shue, and Chad Mcqueen got cut to save on costs. uhg.
He was there for the beginning of the second movie, he just didn't have any dialogue.
@@bendutchover6289 just looked at the credits.. it says he was there... but it doesnt look like him
@@itubeutubewealltube1 it's him. Why they put a ball cap on him, and had him on the other side of that car, I have no idea. They only gave dialogue to Bobby and Tommy's characters, As for Jimmy's character, he had no dialogue in the second movie, and I am not sure who is talking in the motorcycle scene at the beach, to Johnny. We know that Bobby and Tommy have dialogue, there, but either Dutch or Jimmy say, "I thought they broke up" referring to Johnny and Ali, Any idea who had that dialogue between Dutch and Jimmy in that scene?
@@bendutchover6289 no idea.. someone also says off camera "hit her johnny" or something like that..I guess the ballcap was so he wouldnt have to redye his hair.. he probably just put on a wig
@Ed So. I watched another video. Someone says, “Forget her Johnny.” I thought it was “Hit her Johnny” at first too.
Shue owes a lot...and I mean a lot to KK, so she really needs to get her things focused. I'm sure she will be on the show.
What happened to his voice?
Elizabeth Shue. 💜💜💜💜💜💜
Elisabeth Shue is a beautiful woman! I love it to see her.... 😍😍😍
Marc Jordan she has an amazing smile !!!
Chris W Yes!! She is still beautiful!!
i always thought the same thing, how ali was just written off in part 2 , i get daniel was going to have a new love interest in okinawa but it always felt wrong
Elizabeth shue on The Boys.😍She has aged in the best ways.
I want to see Ralph meet Hillary Swank. I know the Next Karate Kid is not that good but it would be interesting for the two of them to meet.
What was the story?
Ahhhhh. Seeing this, just seeing this... 🤣👏🏼
I bet every dollar I own (which isn't much) that Shue shows up in season 3. Every f****** dollar.
This must happen!
Has Ralph Macchio heard about the Karate Kid and the Mandela Effect?
She should have been in every movie. 10 out of 10
Elizabeth Shue was probably 70% of why I watched Karate Kid 2 in the first place. What a disappointment to see that she wasn't a part of it.
Kumiko was better and prettier.
I liked the movie Ralph starred in. It was a true story about Robert Garwood the last p.o.w. to leave Vietnam in 1978. Great movie based on true story.
I think he’s awesome
In the Karate Kid dvd commentary, Avildsen is just like "Yeah, Elizabeth wanted too much money. Sooo...don't be greedy if you want to be in the movie." LOL
Collider we have much different definitions of the word “great”
😂
I enjoyed the story but I have to agree.
It was a good story about ES.
She wasn’t in the sequel for pretty much the reasons you logically expected....but it’s still cool to hear the story 🤷🏻♂️
I like that he knows his sports.
I shot the clerk? I shot the clerk?!
She decided to quit and leave filming the karate kid so then they only had a small amount of time to make up for her absence
