My wife’s name is Mandy. I used to suffer from bad PTSD nightmares from the war. The first night she stayed the night I had a bad one. She woke up while I was in sleep paralyzes and held me when I was shaking and crying and couldn’t move. She kissed my forehead and hummed a song I only heard my grandma and mother song. I instantly woke up and calmed dow from a 10 to a 1. I couldn’t believe it! It’s was 8 years since I was injured severely in Afghanistan and nothing worked. Then she did this and then I never had them again. I also never slept a night with out her and kept her close by me to this day. That was 5 years ago and I’m way more in love now then I was then. I hear this and it hits me in the feels so hard I cry a little every time. We got married a year ago and my only regret is not finding her sooner. I love you Mandy Lopez!

Welcome to the world of real music. A world where music is more than just notes, keys, and time signatures. Where the words from the singer can be heard and understood. Where the musician doesn't have to wear a sleazy outfit to draw an audience. Where the musician doesn't have to "come out" to gain support. This is from a time when musicians had something the musicians of today don't have -- talent and spirit.

I became obsessed with this song when I was 10 years old in 2000. My dad had the cassette and I made him play it over and over again. I would sit in his office listening to it while coming up with stories about the plot in my head. I just find it interesting that I was just 10 and obviously not old enough to truly understand the depth and context of this message, but still, it moved me deeply then and it still does at 30. That's when you know there is something about certain songs/ poems/ literature, that transcend time, place, space, age, ect. Sometimes your soul just knows something you might not even know yourself.

As typical with a child or youth, that can cause a massive case of hype backlash, which i felt a lot in regard to these two bands. I know this is a love song. But I had to travel to the US leaving my 2 children with their dad and this is how I felt those years without them, empty. Now I'm back but are even more distant from them than when I lived in another country. Their teen years and their father have made it so difficult for us to be together as we should.

Raining down as cold as ice
    A shadow of a man
    A face through a window
    Crying in the night
    The night goes into
    Morning, just another day
    Happy people pass my way
    Looking in their eyes
    I see a memory
    I never realized
How happy you made me, oh Mandy
Well you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away, oh Mandy
And you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy
I'm standing on the edge of time
Walked away when love was mine
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing
The tears are in my eyes
And nothing is rhyming, oh Mandy
Well you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away, oh Mandy
And you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy
    Yesterday's a dream
    I face the morning
    Crying on a breeze
The pain is calling, oh Mandy
Well you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away, oh Mandy
Well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking

Early 20's asked me to marry him, he did something which made me not trust him, said no. Inside I wished he would keep trying and maybe we could have made it. This song could have been written about me and her. The lyrics could have been written just for us. She was mine. She was willing to give everything. She was loving, forgiving, kind and was everything I wanted (although, i didn't realize it until it was too late.) She forgave me many times when she shouldn't have. She was so much mine that I didn't pay attention and make her mine forever. She found love elsewhere. The pain was incredible.

    • @gfine2000
      @gfine2000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I was reading through the comments and of course, saw yours. Let me be the first to tell you that there is no such thing as unconditional love because no one is perfect and we all make mistakes but we must be able to move past those mistakes with forgiveness and not hold grudges against those we say we truly love because tomorrow isn't promised to any of us and we don't want any regrets in the end if that person we're holding a grudge against leaves this world before we do. Over the years I've lost my mother, my dad, a brother and two sisters. I didn't hold a grudge against any of them but hurt so badly because I feel I didn't spend enough time with them. Life really is precious, more precious than we'll ever really know but we feel it when we lose someone we love. Time is like a band-aid, it only covers the wound but it really never heals it. That scare on our heart and soul is forever.

It was a Halloween party, after the song finished I asked her to be my girlfriend she quickly said yes. I did not know what to say, so she said yes again.
