I love seeing neons get some appreciation. They are just as beautiful as a lot of saltwater reef fish but freshwater and cheap and easy to get. A lot to love about them
I always enjoy your species videos. I’ve always been intrigued by these guys. I think regular neons are getting better in quality but I depends on the source. I bought some at a big box store and all but 4 died within a week. I got some online from an online-only retailer and 38 of 40 are alive after 6 months. Likewise, I’ve gotten 24 gold neon tetras and they are very hardy. No deaths in 6 months. They aren’t shy. The big box store neons are shy and do poorly whereas the online retailers do a great job of sourcing and treatment/quarantine. Thanks again! I’ll check these guys out at Flip’s.
Great vid! Another decision to make for stocking my 29. It never ends! I may never put fish in there! LOL Thank you very much for all your information! Greatly appreciated! BTW, found something that makes testing water SO much easier! 10cc syringe. No more too much in the test tube, then not enough. They are cheap and if you have a good relationship with your vet, you can usually get them for free. Hope this helps any new people out there like me.
Hi! It seems strange somehow that genetically modified/selected regular neon tetras (as it is the same species) would become more hardy than the regular neons which can be more fragile. Generally speaking when fish are modified/selected such as guppies, mollies, bettas it accentuates a weakness but not here. PS: the plants in this tank and especially the crypts all look absolutely healthy and beautiful!
What town are you in? I'm in Elk Grove Village and the only place I know of to buy fish locally (other than Petsmart) is Aquarium Adventure in Schaumburg. I'd live to have options when it comes to purchasing fish. Keep up the great videos!
That's awesome - you should definitely check out the local swaps! Greenwater Aquarist Society has 10 swaps per year in Tinley Park and the Greater Chicago Cichlid Association has 5-6 per year in Northlake! We sell at both swaps!

Now this is a cool fish. Great information. I never had luck with neon or cardinal tetra. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I've never seen these before until now.
I MUST have them. 😍

Excellent, informative video. I will definitely try Diamond Head Neon Tetras at some point soon.
Something a little different!

I think they are really pretty. I got a small bag full from you awhile back. They are with my green neons. Nice little fish ❤
Nice!
Oh wow! These look crazy good!

I agree! We’ve had so much better luck with green neons and these guys!
I’ve never seen these before. I like it. The hard part is going to be finding them. Aquarium stores in my area are pretty lame.
They’re becoming more common, but can still be a little tough to find. I’m fairly certain flip aquatics had them in their site.

It's a line bred strain.

Maybe bronze?
What kind of Cories are those?
