Someone on an older upload of this version said (something to the effect of) it's unbelievable how this recording makes for a pleasant little toe-tapper of a song whereas the album version makes you want to burn your house down. I have to say I agree; this is a fine performance, don't get me wrong, but when the album version kicks in it's got the energy of a Saturn V rocket taking off
The first attempt to record Definitely Maybe was at the Monnow Valley studio. A few weeks into recording they realized that the songs sounded too clean and lifeless compared to their live performances. So they fired the producer and scrapped these recordings, then re-recorded everything again at Sawmills studio, this time under the production of Noel Gallagher himself. The result was much better this time, but not enough. Much of the re-recorded material was edited and re-recorded a third time and then mastered by Owen Morris to finally be officially released in August 1994. Now 30 years later, they are officially releasing the Monnow Valley and Sawmills sessions to be heard for the first time by the public.
