You have done a great project that is well thought out. You were thinking outside the box. I lifted my Smart and added larger tires and fender flares. I did a rooftop basket that was meant to be a front carrier rack on a 4 wheeler. I used the same light bar and the same square lights on all 4 corners of the basket as you. You will be surprised at how well it goes through the woods. I did a front bull bar but haven't done a winch yet. People in SUV's looked down on me in traffic and would use 5 gallons of gas just to get around me. Now it sits higher and looks meaner and bigger. It's 6.5 feet to the top of my basket so I get noticed for the right reasons and even look down on some SUV's. I've had over 30 cars and trucks in my lifetime, but none have captured my heart like the Smart. So I know how you feel about your little project. I hope you do more with it because I will be watching you for new ideas. Thanks for a set of great videos.
The next person that tells me I'm insane for wanting to do something like this for my little Ford Connect minivan, I'm going to send them a link to this video. Absolutely brilliant!!! and how about that tailgate dining setup!!?? Just mind-blowing!!
I have 2 lifted minis. A base 2013 and a 2013 jcw all4 countryman. The base one was never going to be a go fast car unless I engine swap it, so I did the next best thing. Lifted it, added a light bar up front and put mud tires on it. It’s honestly an off-roading beast
Personally, I'd have went full on halal with it...dinner right there, and enough left over for the puma(if like here in Scotland)and the foxes...puma takes the rap 😂😂
I go away from the city and have a little tailgate party with my Smart ForTwo. The sound system is excellent and by opening up the tailgate the music comes out exactly where I’m sitting drinking my coffee looking at nature on a warm evening. I need that stove lol.
That is genuinely cool, and I supposed a little useless, but when you mentioned a festival...Yea perfect application for camping comfortably short term without having to wrestle a truck. Thanks for the content.
This is the most amazing thing I have seen. I was thinking about the roof tent on a simple small car. And this is the solution. Sturdy and durable. Thank you!!
This would be the perfect vehicle for ItchyBoots to tow her motorcycle! I love this build and the rugged good looks of the smart car. What a fun project! I could tow this behind my 30 ft RV in the USA!
More Ed March (C90 Adventures) than that idiot...I gave up on her after her stupidity in Peru...she proved there she was very blonde, running about with a surgical mask on in a 3rd World country, idiocy of the highest degree!
Absolutely brilliant. I have a cargo platform on the back of my Smart car. It carries my Tent Cot. I am off camping this week. Looking forward to testing out my new Trangia Alcohol Stove.
Your flag holders could also double as bottle rocket launching tubes, a la Colin Furze...... LOL Also, for your 'kitchen', maybe some folding legs on the bottom to set it up behind the car and have a good height.
I've hated smart cars until now............ Coolest build ever, Maybe you need to take us out with the boys for a weekends serious off roading and camping.
I would love to do.this on my 2014. Here in the states I already get a lot of attention with mine pulling a boat. If I had that setup people would loose their minds...hahaha
I have a SMART soft top, wish someone would do this to mine, those wheels are awesome, don't need the tent on foot but the off road wheels would be great down here in Somerset on the muddy country roads. Those big tractors might think twice about forcing me into a ditch with a rig up like that. Haven't laughed so much in ages.😅😂. Thanks for cheering my evening.
The most skill was in the external roll cage... I did my full roll cage and front/rear/side bumpers at a muffler shop for my Manx Dunebuggy. You could even use stainless. It is great fun bending and adjusting the pieces. The results are awesome. Try it!
Best smart I've ever seen! I drive an old skoda fabia station. You've inspired me to make it off road as well. I already wanted to put a roof tent on it
@@SilverlineToolsTVI've just bought that very model at auction for £160...found this while looking for ideas what to do with it(6cylinder BMW K1600,or Honda VFR1200 V4 DCT?)...yes,you need to produce those exoskeleton kits, etc 👍
That's looks great !!!!!!! Congratulations. I just wonder, would anybody be crazy enough to somehow make a limo out of one of these? Just imagine how crazy that would look. lol lol lol
3:32 - Nice save there. Just make it look like you meant to do whatever you screwed up, and everyone will think you're a genius (when it happens to work out). You've obviously mastered that skill a long time ago. Also, the tailgate banquet table made my laugh out loud. That was a superb touch. I think this build is beyond cool. All you need now is to cut the roof off the Smartcar and a hole in the tent, seal them off so you can open the tent and stand in the Smartcar , or sleep in the tent without having to leave the car, with a ceiling panel or two. Then it will be so absurd, it just might become amazing. or, even more amazing rather, as it is certainly amazing already, but it has some room in it for more absurdity.
I love this! I’m considering getting a vehicle and really want something small but also want to go camping and be able to sleep in it, this would be perfect for me! I’m only 5’2 so I could sleep in the car. However, now I am intrigued, would the car be strong enough to have the roof tent without the roll cage?
Max's Smart is a convertible so we had to make the roll cage to support the roof tent, The hard top version would probably be able to without the roll cage, but always check with the manufacturer first. If you give it a go we'd love to know how you get on!
this is absolutely the most useless, ridiculous and offensive project ive ever seen on you tube. I LOVE IT!!! PERFECTION!!!
Phew! Was worried where that was going for a second 🎢
Ha ha thanks I think! 😂
As a smart 450, 451, 452 owner.......I love this useless, ridiculous and offensive project and I want it on my smarts so badly 😆
Fun!
Any way you’d be interested in making money in building the cages for other people? Or showing the exact dimensions on how to get it done?
The tailgate dining table setup is utterly brilliant mate! Good on ya!
Thanks!
I was in until you said that was Bacon, now I'm assuming you hit your head on that roll cage.

The silliest yet coolest car camper ever. Just need a tarp setup over the tailgate for those drizzly days and you’ve got it!
Great Idea!
This is the most amazing thing I have seen. I was thinking about the roof tent on a simple small car. And this is the solution. Sturdy and durable. Thank you!!
Awesome! What car are you planning to put it on? 🚙
@@SilverlineToolsTV It's Suzuki's Swift Dzire. A big car but not made for rooftop camping. So this solution can add a roof tent.
We know the Suzuki Swift well. If you wanted to see mod videos for that car our Automotive ambassador Dan AYP has them over on his channel!
This the right blend of practical and absurd. You have officially made the only smart car I don't hate.
Mission accomplished
I love the vehicle, I can't get over the rubber "bacon" and cracking an egg with a knife. Hilarious!
Full camping experience!
That's AWESOME. Could you put a little traler on it for your gear, 'cause I don't know where you'd put it for a long trip?
Great idea! Space is a little limited, You do have to pack light.

the custom tailgate dining styrofoam to replace the cabrio styrofoam *genius* looks OEM

This is so ridiculous yet I had to watch the video. I love it!
Couldn't agree more, have you seen the Ambulance Camper yet? Just as ridiculous 🚑
Watched the build video and now this. Epic! The dining table with the slots for silverware is beyond ❤️
Right?!
How much does it cost to fabricate an exoskeleton like that for smart? I have the latest gen, 453 and thinking maybe I should convert it too
No idea of cost but many many hours!

Now that's the good livin! Great build towards an even greater result. Thanks for sharing the video. Stay safe.

I was thinking that instead of the flags, to use that part to support poles that hold up a shelter in case it is raining while cooking and eating.
Brilliant Idea!
Great idea! Mk2!
You could also put fishing poles in where you put the flag so you can go fishing by the lake.
Got your own bivvy up top as well 🎣
Absolutely love it- A retro version using a little BMW Isetta would be even more amazing to see!
WOW! that would be micro camping!
Do the honda crz next, 2 door hybrid camper
We've got something in mind
With all the added weight, does it drive normally? What about uphill?
A bit slower but pretty good 🙌🏼
Very nice, even if probably no one would thing of a Smart car as a camper van platform to start the build on.
All the more reason to make one!
That shower head is pointing upwards. Need to make it point down. But I would like to know the brand name & model of that rooftent
Latitude tents 🤙🏼

Could you tell me the shower you are using? :)
Collapz it’s brilliant 🤙🏼
Hay wow! the ultimate well-designed travel itinerary.
So how does it drive with the larger tires? Any acceleration issues with the torque?
Not sure the Smart was build for acceleration... even before adding a roll cage and roof tent
All good so far just a bit noisy!
was there any way to mount the tent so it would open above the rear of the car ? that would shelter your dining area from rain a bit...
Great idea! but think the runners only go one way unfortunately
