This is fantastic news! DX12 and Drifting! Thank you so much. this is going to bring so many new players and the Graphics Engine is good but showing it's age. I love the way the cars and tracks are purchased and ARE NOT behind a monthly paywall like a certain competitor. Thanks R3E team for an affordable and awesome sim!
Very healthy dev environment, definitely can see it compete in the market for another 10 years.. Dx12 is a must to remove the limitation to current graphics..
Hopefully DX12 will make R3E so much better in VR, at this time, being on DX9, the CPU is the limitation, DX12 will open that up and have much better performance on modern hardware! 😁
@@firstjayjay I agree, I do not understand all this complaining, for me VR in Raceroom is better than many other sims, in which colours are oversaturated, and people think is just better looking, apart from that, it works flawlessly.
Not directly. No sim at the moment has DX12, but there's a lot of great car interiors offered. What may happen is that the graphics updates will allow for more detailed interiors, and some of the algorithms included in DX12 may help with that. OTOH, if the basic data for better interiors is not in the sim, no amount of improvements in the graphics display will change the interiors. As you can see, it's a multi-pronged answer. (as so often in life)
ATM they are using DX9 that is really inefficient on modern hardware, e.g. no multithreading. So DX12 might open some resources for more detailled car interiors. But DX12 doesn't automatically do that. Thus 3D artists and car painters still have to work to add some polygons and resolution. Maybe AI upscalers help in this kind of age.
I like feeling of driving in RaceRoom. The main problem of this game is that it looks sad. In both: artistic and technological aspects. I wish guys luck in developing the game and drifting it on the new level
It's the first time I hear this. Tell your friend to use OBS instead and he should have no problems. ;-) Regarding the issues, it may very well be that DX9 is part of the overall problem. Or it may be that RR has been using a lot of resources that then NVidia Shield could not use resulting in issues. Which should now be rather in the past, as RR goes easier on graphic resources.
Agreed besiden I don't own a console. But I really hope Cross Plattform Multiplayer gets standard. I know its hard to do, but it woul've improved AC & ACC open lobbies alot imp
AC's physics are outdated and don't consider many of the things modern sims consider. They were great at their time (ten years ago) but they need an overhaul (which other actively being developed sims get - and I suppose AC Evo also will have). AC is End Of Life Software.

R3E getting DX12 is the best news I've heard all month, DX9 has always been the sims Achilles heel.

Oh this is good news. DX12! Like it!
All fruit of their graphics overhaul, it seems.
Was a great chat, I could have geeked out much more about software. But I rather left it here :-)

We're all hoping,
Altho, then we'd have one more sim that would be a MUST to drive regularly...
@@WromWrom and that's a problem? LOL 🤪
Well, the day only has 24hrs... And my cats already demand a lot of attention... ;-)
Strange I switched to raceroom because vr was so good compared to others sims. That was 4 ya ago.

Don't forget about old pc, if it possible keep both DX9 and DX12 version, let users to choose. :)
I afraid you will be forgotten, they are more users with dx12 GPU who want to play R3E than users with old DX9 GPU
Would the DX12 implementation also make room for better car interiors? They look a bit bland and very alike.

It's on the Dev to-do list to re-do all the car interiors apparently. Overtake_gg asked about it and were told these will be updated for all cars.

I like raceroom, it's got a nice feel to the racing. The only thing missing is anyone to play with. If they could somehow fix that.
Check our news tomorrow - there's something coming!
Will this finally solve the resolution issues with the Pimax Crystal? RR doesn't even support native 100% Crystal resolution and OpenXR.

Based on the latest work on Raceroom - and this interview - this will change in '25.
Glad to hear! It’s my favorite sim to race.
Lol
By looking at the guys in the background playing I guess the will need some tutorial mode for drifting....
😂
I gotta confess I'd be the first one to use it. Or I'd let Eike give me pointers...
A buddy of mine says RR doesn’t work well with NVidia Shield, is that related to DX9 in any way?

There is only one way to drift...
LfS
And i'm not british but i bet LfS gets Day/ Night first.
I no have pc , but i hope more simulation coming to console
For now I don't think Raceroom will be in that group.

What is wrong with Assetto Corsa drifting physics?

So, you want to talk about drift brothers without mentioning Shanahans family? Nice joke)
