    I wish doodash would not let the customer request "hand it to me" but then right under it say they want a "no contact delivery".

      I don't like that either but this is what I do. I select the text the customer, take a pic and send a quick message. That way, DD knows it arrived and so does the customer. They can't say they didn't get it, because you used the platform to alert the customer.

      I’m having a lot of problems with this one. Invariably in this situation I text the customer their food is at the door and wait for the five minutes to tick down, but by the time the 5 is up and the picture button is active, they’ve already come out and grabbed their food, so I can’t continue to close out the order.
      I’ve only had this work as intended one time. I’ve started taking my own picture to document before texting the customer. They could solve the whole problem with this scenario if taking the picture was the first step or if you could take your picture during the five minutes.
      Besides I feel like a stalker hanging out for what seems like forever on their porch or in my car waiting to take a picture. They’re home and surely wonder what I’m doing.

      Completely agree, I always go with the customer notes in this case "leave at door" instead of hand off but it looks like we must go off of what the Dasher app says and not the notes.

    Only time I take extra pictures is if I get a bad feeling about a delivery. Best not to drive in bad areas and ones who don’t tip. Those two are the ones that would lie

    If the order is not ready, I click in the notes saying it's not ready and send it off to DoorDash. I'm not playing that. These orders should be done before we get to the location pickup if we are on a timer. I rarely do stack ons unless they are at a different restaurant during busy hours aka Chipotle. I learned my lesson real fast.

    I am so glad you did this video, I literally just got the same " late violation " just a few days ago. It said I was 10 minutes late, and showed what delivery and the times I was supposed to pickup by, and when I actually picked up from the restaurant. I think this is a way to cleanup their good drivers versus their bad drivers. I multi app, and it was due to me dropping off a uber eats and accepting a doordash along the way which is why I was late to the pickup. So this changes things for sure, have to restratigize.

      I think doordash doesn't want you to multi app , I multi app too what I've realized is there's time where I've been late more that 15 minutes didn't get a violating but as soon as I deliver another order from an other from going to the other restaurant and delivering for the app bang contract violating for being late 12 minutes

      Your right Josh. I just pass on deliveries that I know I cant fit in while multi-apping. Not sure if this is an actual benefit to the customer or not. They are going to be waiting either way.

    Door dash is the worst at taking care of their workers. The fact that they just deactivate people without even speaking to them is just insane.

      GrubHub is actually worse. I asked them for examples of what they "suspected as fraud" when they paused me and I did not even get a reply. I don't do GH any more and don't miss it at all. Got over 3000 deliveries with no issues on DD and UE.

    I was deactivated with ONE infraction which was extreme lateness. I was so upset! I emailed them & explained what happened & they reactivated me, Thank God!!

    Love how these companies wanna treat you like employees , But label you as independent contractors . Let’s talk about the contract violations that door dash does to its drivers.

      You are an independent contractor. You have to follow basic procedures. You work when you want, leave when you want, pick your orders.

    Doordash is too wreckless. Letting customers report order never arrived. How about “Please contact the dasher text/call before reporting your order never arrived. If you attempted to contact the dasher but were unsuccessful, when doordash verifies you did, you would be eligible for refund or credit. Failure to contact the dasher will result in no refund/credit” I guarantee you the customer will think twice.

    You should do a zoom video with fellow dashers where you act as the host, and provide the topics of discussion and questions etc. and we share our personal experiences, tips things like that. Could be cool. Appreciate the work you’re doing Mike 👍

    I had two violations due to GPS and app errors. I called the second they showed up on my ratings page. I send screenshots and detailed narration of the situations.
    Today 1/15/21 both violations have been removed. Fight for yourself immediately.

    A lot of restaurant employees will mark the “ food is ready to pick up” even the order is not finish, there for to make themselves look good as on time. Once restaurant mark the order is ready, customer side and app side are both seeing this order is ready, so they think it is driver’s fault to being late.(like last Sunday 1/10 Pittsburgh just open up the dine in again, I think a lot of restaurants did not have the men power by miss measure how busy it gonna to be in the rush hours. Drivers are waiting so long for each order, there may be some restaurant mark the order is ready even it is not, cheating on you.)

      I use the "it's something" box a lot along checking what applies. This is where you can type whats going on. Certain Restaurants here do this often too.
      I type in there for everything and state i have taken a pic/video.
      When delivery is completed and something was horrible and i give a sad face i also type something in the something else box plus check everything that went wrong.
      I have a smartphone so my screen may be different from iphone

    I had customers lie who left decent tips before. So it happens everywhere. Sometimes it’s hard to take a picture if it’s a “hand to customer” delivery because I have so many drinks in my hands on top of the food. So much fraud is going on on doordash and this is why so many drivers are in danger of getting fired for nothing.

    (33:40) when you mentioned about the "optional description" everytime I dona contactless delivery, I always say where I put the food and write a little inspirational message afterwards. The customers here in the Sarasota marketplace greatly appreciate that :)

    That contract violation is very employees alike. I am not sure how they could consider us as an independent contractor when they are setting up so many rules.

    doordash wants to control drivers so they don't work for other apps but doordash pays very little for delivery. in my opinion doordash doesn't care about drivers when they constantly send orders of 3 or 4 dollars.
    they do not have a minimum payment and want drivers to deliver food on time.

      well they give you the power to decline those low offers with no penalty. decline these enough, and especially if you're in a good area and you won't be getting these low offers

    I’ve had 2 violations. First one I was pretty new to the area and had trouble finding the address, but I think it was a combination of receiving the order late and me being slow getting there. Second one the customer lied and said they didn’t get their order. Thankfully I had taken a picture that showed the hotel door number and was time stamped (the exact time customer complained not delivered). I’d also stopped at front desk to get directions to the room.
    I was very glad when the first violation dropped off!

      I just randomly got a violation first one ever and saying I was 10 minutes late to get to the store. I said I put gas in my car and that it was my first ever time being late. I had a very short response too. Man I can’t afford to be deactivated.😭

    I got one in November for being 10 minutes late to pick up. I accepted an order while I was waiting for my personal food to be made. It said the food wasn't supposed to be ready for 15 more minutes and I knew I could be there in 10. Needles to say I had the order dropped off by the original drop off time and got a violation. It went away this month I believe

    I haven’t started dashing yet, however I know that communication excellence is key to preventing problems with most Independent Contractor Agreements. Like any relationship, best communication habits for the organization or company takes time to understand. Each party needs to do their part regarding streaming what is defined as excellent.

    I just got a contract violation for extreme lateness.I am appealing this. I was late to the restaurant by 20 minutes and late to customer's house by 15 minutes. I was late because of rush hour traffic and the directions from the app gave the wrong directions to my GPS.

      I just got 2 yesterday for extreme lateness. Gps gave the wrong directions to the restaurant for one order. The other violation was because the app did not show the order after I accepted it.Gps told me to proceed to hotspot.I picked the order up late but still got to the customer a few minutes after drop off time.

    I just had a guy yesterday that I handed the order to say he didn't receive his order. I had heard of it happening a lot but never took any precautions. From now on I am gonna have my phone recording me walking up and ringing the bell.

      I take a picture of every house and every person as they walk away double tap that power bottom on Android to get the camera up fast and keep them for at least 1 week

    it's frustrating how you can follow every rule and document every step, and yet still get a contract violation. I once had a customer who was unresponsive, so I started the 5 minute timer, called him and texted him, then left the order in front of his apartment, took a picture, and sent him a text telling him where the food was. the next day I woke up with a violation because the customer reported that he never received the food!! even after disputing this violation, it remained on my account... 😠

    They should do this. Unfortunately there are some bad drivers out there. Door dash isn’t going to get rid of good drivers😊. ( I was a boss and now own my own business)

    My very first time being late due to traffic/construction I was given a contract violation.
    I informed the customer before and during as well as DD Support who said everything was okay.
    Then..BOOM! "Extremely late" and a contract violation currently under review. It was 14 minutes late.
    Definitely disappointing and disheartening because it's my first time and I have a 5 star customer review.

    I've heard from several people, it seems that people with low acceptance rates seem to be getting this more often. Also if you are concerned about deactivation fast pay, several dashers that were deactivated did not get paid.

    I strongly suggest a body camera to prevent customers saying they didn't get an order so a customer doesn't make a story up when doing complex orders in apartment buildings

    I had the most of 5 violations for lateness at one time it was crazy. I had a order never arrived on my report for like 4 months recently was removed, lateness for me is usually removed after a month. I was caught late going during road work. I think considering 10 mins extremely late is BS, I’d consider maybe 20 mins really late. Also I recommend reassigning a offer if u know ur gonna be marked late. Better to take a hit on completion than receive a violation, I’ve had to reassign 3 things in a row before when it’s busy to avoid that

    They gave me a contract violation due to extreme lateness! I argue my point when I called in because they gave me the wrong restaurant address. Then two weeks later they did the same thing I called in and made them check with the restaurant because I knew it was the wrong address. They called the restaurant and figured out they were wrong and their address they were sending. So they took the violation off.

    I received a contract violation for being 11 min late to the restaurant. I received/accepted the order at 7:39PM and the assigned restaurant pickup time was 7:42PM. I was 15 min away and even took a shortcut that shaved 3 min off my travel time. I still had to wait at the restaurant for them to finish preparing the order (marked still preparing) & the customer still received their order earlier than anticipated. I called support and they said not my fault and told me to dispute. This was 5/3 and it’s still there.

    I got a extremely late violation cause doordash sent me to a tile store saying it was a subway. I was a 5 star now im a 3.5 I'm upset... hopfully they remove it I disputed it, This was not my fault.

    16 minutes late to a pickup in a shopping centre where parking always takes at least 5 minutes. I have not been struck for delivery not received..

      If you're marking "arrived" as soon as you're nearby you'll be fine. The timer for lateness stops at this point (even if you're physically still looking for parking)

      During an system outage I attempted to email support with all the details of my last delivery. I was annoyed, but I took the photos and a screenshot just in case. I sent the email to support, which directed me back to the support page on the website. And then I got an email from support, (same email address!) saying thanks for inquiry, we will get back to you shortly. Hopefully, all is well because I haven't had a follow-up email yet..     I don’t believe for one second that restaurant issues won’t be counted. My question is when are they going to start holding restaurants responsible for consistently being late. I’m gonna have a ton of restaurants that I blacklist just to prevent getting a violation.

    Never got a violation for it but have been delayed by a train for a good 20 minutes before, First thing I did was notify the customer of the delay and the reason for the delay with a picture of the train that caused the delay.

    I clicked on directions and Google took me to an address with the same name Street and number that was 10 miles away from customer. I tries to contact customer and... nothing. Then I got help from the help chat. She gave me the customer's number and I called him. He stated that this happens with every delivery from every company. There happens to be 2 different Main streets in this town. The help chat lady stated that she would try to find a solution and when I finally got to the customer he assured me it was a Google-DoorDash issue but I immediately received a contract violation notice.

    I got a violation of order not delivered. When in fact I did complete the order but the customer said I didn’t hand them the order when my details in app said to leave it at door. I was “violated” before I even pulled out of their driveway. Be careful y’all.

    The best way to avoid a fraud from the customer is 3 things number 1 récord order from you phone like the screen of you device. 2 take a picture of the street and the house number. and 3 récord your self when you are delivering the order.

    I take pictures of every delivery, and text it to the customer along with a message stating enjoy your meal. Kind of like a receipt of the transaction. Regardless if it’s hand off or drop off.

    Been DDing on off part time in SF. Had 1 contract violation last November for extreme lateness. First one from 2300 deliveries. It's now April, five months later. It finally disappeared. Without my rating changing. Therefore it must have something to do with 100 consecutive orders. Not eligible rated orders. 🤷 idk.
    Also yes. I absolutely agree. Multi apping is a highly advanced strategy. And shouldn't be attempted until you know an area like the back of your hand. Especially if it delays customer eta.

    I drive for door dash and I am also a customer. I do take pics of when I pick up the food at the restaurant as well as when I drop it off at the customer. As a customer, I have never had one driver take a pic.

      Same, never had a driver take a pic of me with the food and frankly I think that's a bit too invasive for most. Best practice is to just take other documentation to confirm

    My very FIRST delivery was a stacked order (4 different orders). I got the notification and accepted it at 11:10 then noticed it said that all 4 were supposed to be delivered by 11:19 🤦‍♀️ I knew that wasn’t going to happen, especially since the orders were from WalMart and the wait time is already super long. For some reason they expected me to drive to the store, pick up all four orders, drive to all four houses and drop everything off in 9 minutes. And some of the customers never returned my phone calls or texts in that time as well so ALL of their orders were extremely late.

    I've never gotten a contract violation(as of yet), but I have gotten an email twice letting me know that they customer has claimed the food never showed up! I responded to their forum twice telling them it was untrue and just people trying to get free food by grabbing the food on a contactless delivery and that was the end of it. No red exclamation point of death on my app at all.

      Yes arrival/delivery time on the app. My on time/early metric is 83% which shows this system is not accurate and DD can't fully rely on this third party to provide accurate ETAs.

    With over 10,000 deliveries i got 1 of this 3 months ago I explained my self in the email with attached text messages from customers and pictures and they took it out as long as you explain your self good because some of this customer s will try to get the food for free and get a refund

    Some good info, but I can't even sign up. I just signed up and was told "We've hit our capacity of door dashers in your area due to popularity, so we're not accepting applications at the moment". I live in the Smoky Mountains and 13 million tourists are through here every year, so I find that hard to believe. Guess there is no way around that.

    Hi Mike! First, I want to thank you for your excellent videos as they have really helped me learn the tricks of the trade. I have been dashing here in southern California for 2 months and reallly enjoy the work. I was under the impression that DD tracks your every move and knows via gps that you arrived at the drop off location. Is this correct? Also to avoid a false claim of no delivery, when the customer is outside waiting, what documentation can I make as many people do not want their picture taken with the food? Keep up the good work!

    I need help understanding the dash cam. How much can you record? An entire shift? Do you just leave it running or stop and start on each delivery? How does it store the video? Doesn’t it just overwrite it?

    Take a timestamp photo for yourself----this stopped a violation on my account by someone who said I never delivered the food. Doordash marked it as not delivered, I got the alert, called the office and told them remove it or else I will hire a lawyer. I sat and watched the whole thing go down (was a customer who texted me while I was driving to change drop off delivery instructions). From now on, I will videotape or snap a timestamp photo to cover my butt, and once you have proof and threaten with a lawyer, it's AMAZING how fast that strike comes off your account! Any of you who were wrongly accused should seek council immediately.

    I had a violation for extreme lateness about a month or month and half ago. That address I was given was the same in 2 different parts of the city. Etc. Meriden vs So Meriden. I was take to the wrong section of city and was in communication with customer and was 23 minutes late when I finally made it to the right address. The customer said this happens all the time with other deliveries from various delivery companys. This was clearly not my fault.

    Recently got my 1st contract violation. My orders are now hardly coming in and are bad orders. This makes me wish I had signed up for other services in the past instead of putting all my eggs in the dd basket. Trying to sign up with shipt etc but keep being put on wait lists..

    If you're arriving to a restaurant in large city where you see a line of people waiting out the door or even dashers are going to have to wait or you know it's a bad parking area Mark arrived as soon as you see the restaurant sign and go park when you get inside the restaurant get through the bottom menu and click on that and offer the option other and type in parking, in restaurant and put the time.
    So if in the aftermarket ride for the restaurant when you saw the sign it took you 12 minutes to park when you get in the restaurant cuz now you've parked and then you have to walk for your parking spot to the restaurant wait till you get in the restaurant that could be another 5 minutes couldn't it, make sure you mark how many minutes I took the parking lot to the restaurant door in the other space

    I got one for you. After 200 deliveries and high scores for customer ratings and completion and customers calling in to compliment my customer service; I get an email of deactivation due to extreme lateness. Why didn't I get any warnings like Mike put on the screen. They never said a word to me or sent anything prior. It's currently in review for week in a half. If they do it for other people in the country they need to do it for everyone. That's not a fair standard of contractual employment..

    I cleared the one I got in late February in Cincinnati from Google tacking on an extra 30 minutes because it sent me to the wrong place.
    I just got hit with another one today in Columbus because I accidentally completed a second order which was right around the block before I actually delivered it. When I called through to phone support, the lady called the customer twice and could not get through, nonetheless the contract violation immediately hit my account. I have over 1,000 deliveries and this is the first time I had this issue.
    The other thing to mention is that they wanted to meet me at a location that was not at their actual address (I saw the request printed on the doordash slip attached to the bag) and Doordash couldn't even get ahold of them.

    I had a customer change their address in the notes and said she couldn’t figure out how to change address after she ordered. I had to drop it off to her and then drive to her old apartment. It would not let me close the delivery until I did those steps. DoorDash sent me 3 texts saying she changes her delivery instructions. I screenshot our text messages with each other talking about her change and what showed on the app with delivery note.

    I have 2 contract violations and when I click on it in the dasher app it just loads forever and will not tell me what the violations are for... I know for sure that there were 2 instances where the app simply took me to the wrong address entirely and thus I was late getting to the actual address... Is this my fault? Am I supposed to call the customer to verify the address and then look at google maps and waze to be sure I am going to the right place? Should I contact door dash support and tell them I was late because the gps took me to the wrong address?

    I got an "extreme lateness " violation. The house number was not visible in the dark - I finally found it and there was a car backing out of the drive. I waited. The driver was still chatting to his mom (the house owner) and took forever. I didn't want to interrupt and ask if it was the right house, so i waited. When he finally pulled out I asked the lady "hi, is this door dash order for you?" She said yes, and started talking to me about how she hadn't seen her son for a while even though he lived just around the corner, blah blah blah. Eventually she took her food and I hit "handed to customer" - and then got the "contract violation" for being 11 minutes late!! I called "support" immediately and was told they couldn't do anything about it, but it would fall off after 100 more deliveries. Totally sucked!! Also, if it goes off "rated" deliveries I am totally screwed since I have nearly 500 deliveries and only 70 ratings. Ugh.

But that was 2 weeks ago and I'm still driving .... apparently an "extreme lateness violation" does not automatically get you booted off, and will disappear after 100 more RATED deliveries. That means that you have to actually have customers rate you (which doesn't always happen unfortunately). I've done over 200 more deliveries since then and only had 3 people actually rate me. Which sucks. But. Don't lose any sleep over it .... it will eventually go away .... and make sure you gas up BEFORE taking a shift in the future 🙂 Good luck to you 👍

And I’m like they took the wrong order and she said NO she is here a lot I show her my iPhone So I call support and told them and I also text the customer about it and she called the store.     On a couple of occasions I had a Meet at door and no one is there. I knock on the door, ring the bell, text, call, no response. I wait 8 minutes. place at a location near the front door. send them a text and tell the customer that I was unable to reach them so I left the oder at and put the location. I then take a picture showing their address and the package. I also call support before I do this to get additional documentation.

    I got a violation for being late 11 minutes because my GPS took me somewhere else that was 12 miles away so I had to go back again 12 miles I was on the phone with the customers and this happen twice the other customer didn't answer me I was calling to let them know I have problem with my GPS. What phone will you recommend for a better GPS help please.

    I got my first violation and it's from a hand off that at first customer was unavailable then they showed up and wanted contactless so i skipped the steps because there is an option for handed to customer.

    I got one of these today because the app glitched. As I accepted an order I got a "network error" or "timeout error"..i forget which one exactly. After restarting the app, I was back at the looking for orders screen. All of the sudden I was on the order screen of the order that had the error. Apparently 8-10 minutes passed during this time. I hustled to the restaurant, picked up the food and delivered to a thankful customer.
    It was only after I got home I saw the "violation". Needless to say I'm pissed as hell and I wont do any more dashing until this ding is removed. Support made it seem like it wasn't that big of a deal and that "i was doing great"...but the ding is still there. I am honestly floored by this. There are dashers out there gaming the system to get free food and an app glitch is gonna send me packing.

    This is why I only wait 5 min after the time DD states when item is supposed to be ready.
    Doordash needs to work better with the restaurants on the timeline, and the restaurant needs to be held accountable on their part when making sure it's ready so that lateness does not become a factor for a driver.

    I have on my android phone, unsure if it's available on iphone..but I have a Timestamp Camera Free app that allows for a timestamp when I take the picture. I also then do everything in my power to get in touch with the customer. And I guess that is what it takes from now on...making absolutely sure that the customer knows that their food has arrived.
    I also say that if you are doing this job or want to do this job, you should have experience in customer service FIRST!!! Don't just go into it willy nilly otherwise you will hardly know what to do. And you may have a bad experience

    I got a violation because the GPS on iPhones kept taking me to an empty lot rather than the location of the restaurant. In total I was 45 minutes late between, looking for the restaurant and delivering the food. I contacted doordash for help and didn’t get help. Then I tried calling the customer to see which restaurant she was talking about and where it was and she didn’t answer the phone. Once I got an email from door Dash saying I had a violation, I called dasher support immediately explaining what happened. I also let them know it’s not fair that things like this

    I mean the only real way to protect yourself is to stay in car at door (when possible ) and record that they grabbed the meal. Sometimes I stay and record and other times I don’t. But probably in sketchy areas this is prominent. I live in a suburb / rural zone. Unless a coyote or a Jack rabbit steals the meal ; it’s pretty hard for customers to deny that they got it.

    Driver's not seeing the contract violation ding dropping from your ratings after 100 eligible trips is because the they're not counting properly, count your completed trips only so it will take longer if you decline or if you unassign those will not count because those ended up not being trips, count completed trips only and that's why you're getting reports of some driver saying it's not just appearing it's not calling off, it is but you got to count to 101.

    I never received anything on contract violations. I just received my 2nd violation from them. I explained what happened and I even called support and explained what was happening. They do not care!! They care nothing sbout their drivers at all.

    DUI checkpoint 1 HR late....car crashes on narrow roads..no alternative route 17 minutes late. Both today...took so many pictures of traffic screenshot maps...recieved over 20 dollars in cash tips for those late orders. Both of which door dash sent me a couple miles outside of my delivery zone

    So I’m watching this 7 months later. This week I got THREE violations. All 3 of them were for ‘extreme lateness’ how late? All were 11 minutes or less late! All 3 times it was 3:30pm and I was stuck in traffic all 3 times. I contacted DoorDash support about it and they basically told me to do 100 deliveries and they’ll go away. So I’m being penanlized for being 8,9 and 11 minutes late because of traffic?? And there’s no fighting it! Unreal

    Extremely like this or customer claim of non delivery will stay in your ratings for 100 trips or it will be removed earlier and you will receive an email if such a thing occurs causing your deactivation warning to disappear give me a ratings, so either it will be reviewed and taken off or after 100 trips.
    I would highly recommend not getting more than two

    4 days ago I was taken off the waitlist and accepted my first order, within 30 seconds I was deactivated for not delivering orders. I had not even picked up my first order. After filling out the form I was reactivated 3 days later, so once again I took an order and was deactivated once again before I could pick up the order for not delivering orders. I do GH and UE with no problems, I am thinking that using the map may be the problem, but who knows.

    I multi app all the time if I get both Uber and DD simitaneous I accept both and just take DD 1st , Uber ETA doesn't really matter as much
