I had the same problem in the second season on my Vanarama Save. The first season the cost for hosting the tournaments is low in relation to income. For some reason in the second season it will cost you money to take on certain teams if they accept the invite. When you arrange the friendlys don't just look at "Blackburn (75k)" for example. You need to choose the team and then check once selected what the cost will be also as to whether or not you'll make money. Hope that makes sense and helps! Up the Law!

Di'Shon Bernard in my Woking FC save was great. He played with me until Woking FC got promoted to Sky Bet One then I sold him but he was still top notch and could be one of best center backs at that level. I was just lucky to find 2 better ball playing DCs and decided it's pointless to waste him on a bench.

A cool idea for the seven year landmark could be to form your best XI with one player per save (i.e. one player from the Gibraltar save, one player from Hereford etc.), but it obviously would depend on you having a good memory or going back and refreshing it! Another idea for this save, considering your target of moving up the leagues, could be to keep a list of players like Best and Ferguson who become cult heroes and at the end of every season check up on how they're doing once they've left the club. Would be nice to see you reach the Premier League and see how their careers developed in comparison. Thanks for the great content!
Bernard is a Superstar. He carried us in my save through the keagues with Boston. If you can keep hold of him he will carry your defence at least until League One.
Bernard is a solid player he’s been with me two tiers and been perfect to call on, its fun doing a save from the bottom with your local semi pro team especially when they’re like a minute away from you (Frickley) Somehow got lucky enough to get Marc Wilson and Craig Gardner as their careers were grinding down but solid for 6th tier
You should see if Jo Tessem and Kevin Medina are in your game. The former is a 47(!) year old Norwegian (I think?) who is pretty good for your level across the board. He's got 6 or 7 double digit stats and decent stats across the board. The latter is a 24 year old Luxembourger that the game claims can play every outfield position(!!). His stats are slightly worse than the former but he is very versatile and young at least. I actually signed Tessem hoping that he'll randomly be an awesome coach and I'll get to sign him. I’ve started a save as a tier 9 team and have managed to get into the vanarama North so far. When I was in the 8th tear I tried to sign Bernard but he ended up going to a team in the vanarama national and was playing regularly for them. Think that shows how good of a player you have managed to get😂
I wouldn't want episodes to be longer than the 20-30 minutes they already are and I wouldn't be able to maintain daily uploads editing down videos of multiple games to fit that time. There might be the odd double match episode but it won't ever be regular. If I didn't have a fulltime job it's something I'd like to explore but right now it's not possible
Kit Elliot - Hudd extended his contract in my LLM save, Cardiff signed Di'Shon. My save is with tier 10 Dronfield Town and we are a crappy, tiny club. The biggest friendly we can get is against AFC Mansfield, Belper or Ilkeston Town😒 Barely recover our costs so no chance of making the money you made in the first season but at least we weren't caught out by all those expenses you incurred for your tournament this 2nd season 😁 Coincidentally, we also signed some players you did too. Chimbonda (and he retired before even managing to play once for us!), Akbas (and, same with you, he wasn't as good as his stats led you to belive), Ben Greenop as a backup striker. Romario Vieira wanted £650 a game to play for us so that was a no! 😢 KUTGW 👍🏽
Shocked to see you were able to sign Di'Shon Bernard. I had him on FM19 and he was a rotation player for me in League One, which should tell you something about his quality.
I did this mistake talking player into coach role with Frank Sinclair back in Wrexham days. He retired too, which was sad because he was still very good player for league. For lower leagues its good option to have two in one, but im trying avoid that since then unless im sure i'll not playing him anyway. Its very random what staff attributes player gets as there isnt any preview, sadly.
i believe the season will show that the gaps between your lines are too big. against "skilled" passing teams even that great cb-duo wont be able to mask that.
You need to do the League in friendlies not the cups. So instead of the cups bringing in the money like the previous game, the league is the way to go. You'll play 3 games back to back, but it should sort your finances out.

I think they've 'patched' the pre-season tournaments, last time I attempted one they increased the fees under 'Other' to pay out so you end up actually making a loss.
Can you schedule friendlies for during the season to try to generate funds? (and then use the other advice on cost/revenue to make sure you don't pay too much)
Look for a player called Kevin Carr. He may be at Newton Aycliffe. He's a good midfielder and also a good mate of mine. Would be funny to see him on a football manager save like haha

Are you sure this season is the bug and not last season? Either that or they patched the loophole? Don't remember being able to do this on FM18 to get money as the gate receipts never really brought in enough to bridge the outrageous participation fees
The financial thing may be either compensation for young/youth players you've signed. Or it might be because you made 500k from preseason friendlies, and the game may have a sub routine that doesn't allow higher levels of financial wellbeing than an average team in the league your playing in would have +/- a certain amount.
He's 41, so it was likely to happen at a moment's notice anyway, but I can't help but wonder if encouraging Pascal to consider coaching in the last episode had any factor in his retirement. Be careful what you wish for...

Colne is actually pronounced Cone. I signed Bernard in my level 10 save and sold him after 2 seasons for 160 k
