It would be very beneficial to think of the stump as a multi layer cake and each layer is about 2 inches thick, you grind no more than those 2 inches at a time and you will find that it will be able to handle the load better. After that first layer you go back to the beginning going down no more than 2 inches and so on until you reach the depth you want. Your machine will not struggle as much and it doesn’t actually take any more time. I wish you the best of luck.
I like my MSS, they kick ass and you can find USA replacement parts but they are going to be stamped with foreign manufacture because we just don't make a lot of it anymore. Regarding your comment about the machine being a little small... for that stump, who cares, it got the job done and your machine will be just fine. I run mine and watch the temp. If it's hot I let it idle on low until fan cycles off then come back from my rest in the shade and carry on. I added a battery charger port and replaced the accessory port with a combo USB charger/battery level indicator. I'm going to add a fan to the side of the engine oil cooler. They are cheap and cooler engine oil can't hurt ever. I'd like to find a 90 spin on adapter for easier maintenance also. My MSS came with a drain plug adapter kit. I added an extension so it's easier to drain oil outside of the machine. I wish there were back plate retaining bolt replacement mod for taking the plate off a lot easier to access the air filter and the dipstick for the oil. I check oil and filter often even on my US made equipment, who doesn't? I'm curious about your fan shroud mod, can you PM me that so the haters can stay in one place?
I do some very large stumps with this machine it just takes time I changed the teeth to green teeth 700 and big difference it had a fan shroud I just made one out of small sheet metal for it to pull air outside the machine
Do you know how fast the blade is turning. RPM. I would like to buld a smaller one. I would like a little machine like this. Will have to stay with my tractor. You can speed up the video to help shorten its time. If need to talk can slow down or record over that part. Im still lurning my self. Ive been using movavi clips. Easyest for me. The others never figured out to use

yes that can be done but then there is a slight possibility for the chainsaws to catch dirt and end up messing up.
