  • Ryanair's EI-DLY landing at Prestwick after a short test flight since being fitted with the new split scimitar winglets. Eventually all ~400 737-800s across the fleet will be fitted with the split scimitars.

Feels definitely different with scimitars, but that’s an illegal landing 😮

I wonder if future Aviators will ask us what the -800 was like before, I’d be telling them what changed before it looked like it would be in the future.

The NG has definitely come a long way. Who knows, maybe we'll see a hydrogen version of it when the technology is ready haha! Thanks for watching!

Atleast the -800NG will have better efficiency

Yes, about 1.5% more fuel efficient. Surprised they didn’t do it sooner!

@@kiespo they left it rather late but atleast the -800 will be around a lot longer

It depends. For the split scimitar it´s nearly one and a halve hour of flight until the really help. and rynair does often not even reach this flight time

Good point. You certainly notice the increased efficiency more on the longer flights but even on shorter flights they still have at least a miniscule fuel saving which over the course of a year with the fleet size Ryanair have really adds up.
