    Great video, I am going to be doing my kitchen cabinets with this combo. I ordered from MK and also spoke to them. when I ordered online on their site they gave me the YC-M404 Catalyst. is there a difference from what you used? I spoke to tech he said I could do min 5% max 10%. I figured on going with 8%. he also said do 2K 1st coat 643 and 1K 2nd and both coats 851 in 2K using a X5 airless with FFLP 308 tip.

      The catalysts will be fine. I would do 6%
      Everything else sounds spot on!

    Louis, the majority of the cabinets I refinish with pre-cat lacquer are oak. I almost always have to use grain filler. Can I eliminate this step with Renner product.? I hear you can build more without cracking issues. Thanks for the videos. Very helpful.

      Hey Tony, you can use the 643 primer to help fill the oak grain. Im not going to say its not labor intensive but definitely a safe finishing schedule on oak

    Looking to spray my kitchen cabinets .Firstly does pre painted cabinets need to be primed or would two top coats suffice amd also can a finish of this standard be achieved with a diy sprayer ?

    Great video. Applying 643 with Hardener now. Is the Hardener also used with topcoat or is catalyst different product?

    If I have half a quart paint left in my HVLP, can I pour the remaining paint back into the gallon can and seal it for use the next time a customer want that color? is the 851 1K or the 1245 2K better for being reused?

    Nice work!!! By adding the catalyst, how did you clean your gun? Wondering if I should trust it on my 440i airless if clean up is just water or should I use this on my gravity feed hvlp gun?

    • @finefinishsupply
      @finefinishsupply  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Water clean up. I follow up with acetone for good measure with 2k products

      I had the same question - does it gum up the sprayer? I have not used catalyst before and was wondering how fast I have to spray to make sure I leave enough time to flush my system with water.

    How is the tannin blocking on the 643? I recently used a Benjamin Moore cabinet paint on oaks cabinets. After 3 coats of primer and 2 coats of Acrylic Urathane paint, and I still have a lot of bleed through on some doors.

      "Prime it twice, make it look nice" -
      As @shane woods would say. I am good with one topcoat of 2k unless its a dark color

      Two coats primar and two coats of top coats is the best result.

      Antonio Ottaviano Thank you! Your response made my day. Did you need to reduce the 1245? I don’t know much about the various Renner products yet. Can i assume the 1245 would spray like the 643 and 851? In other words are the viscosities similar?

    Hello. I refinish cabinet oak doors with 1st 643 coat 8% catalized. A lot of tannin bleeding. What should I do please? Would the 2nd 643 coat cover tannin bleeding? Thanks in advance.

      Some renner paints are designed for high pressure application, like the 740 top coat. Not sure about this one in particular but it seems to lay down nicely. I believe that 743 is the less viscous hvlp version they do. This might be a similar deal.

    I'm new in to waterbased laquers and I wonder how hazardous are the ISO hardener and Aziridine crosslinkers when using them in small shop or occupied homes when finishing projects?

    • @jaybernstein5354
      @jaybernstein5354 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very hazardous. Not worth risking your health for a kitchen cabinet.

    To bad Renner isn't available in most states. It's hard to trust a product that has to be ordered from out of state. And if you need an additional gallon on the fly it ain't happening

      Do you know if Renner distributors sell to homeowners, or just cabinet companies? I've tried SW precat lacquer with stain for a kitchen cabinet set I built, it was ok but I'd love to do another with their products. Your vids are very informative, thanks.
