My mom passed away on June 24th of this year from cancer. I prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet almost everyday for her to go in peace once she became terminal at the end of May. None of us were in the room with her when she died due to restrictions on visiting hours at the hospice from COVID. When they called me to tell me she was gone, they said she went peacefully in her sleep. The last thing I got to do with her while she was alive was pray the Chaplet and then prayed the Rosary immediately after. My prayers were answered. She received the sacraments before death and we've been having odd things happening in the house since her passing. Pictures knocking off walls, lights and tv go on by themselves, footsteps...I think she is in purgatory. Anyone reading this, please pray for my mom's soul. Her name is Maryann Ragan. ❤

Mary R. Dear Mary. Please do consider "30 Gregorian Masses for the Dead" in your Moms name for relief of your Mothers soul from Purgatory to Heaven, as soon as you can. If at all possible I would go for the Traditional Latin Masses if you can find a priest who is truly Catholic to do so. Please look in to the origin and history of this if you have any doubts. This is the method that the Church has used for centuries in situations like this. May God bless your Mothers soul and your Family.

I need to reach out to you and want to tell my story.
I was born into a Hindu family in India and converted into a Christian (Catholic) with no one pushing me into it. It’s by God’s pure pathway and miracles I chose to become one.
Where can I reach out to testify and share my story?

Thank you for this awesome episode. I am blessed to believe that both of my parents passed away in great friendship with God, and both died (16 years apart) surrounded by family, and in peace. They were foster parents to hundreds of handicapped children in addition to their own kids, and raised us all in the faith. I believe that St. Joseph , the foster father of Jesus, as well as the Blessed Mother, were there to escort them Home. God bless all of you.

Great. I really enjoyed this one. Thank you very much for presenting this topic. Since I found back to the faith I don't feel funerals anymore as such depressing events but as a spiritual experience. The christian hope of resurrection is an amazing feeling, - if you can feel it. I just think most people can't. My greetings to all of you from Cologne, Germany. I only wish my family could speak english well enough to listen to you.

I found this conversation so interesting. I am Indian and as far back as I can remember, we always went to the cemetery on all souls day and often attended mass held in the cemetery. Months mind mass and 1st, 2nd, 3rd anniversary masses are still offered, sometimes 7th day mass

I was a 13 year old girl when my mama passed, me my father and my siblings went to church every Sunday then after mass we go directly to the cemetery that's the whole year wearing our mourning clothes, that's 44 years ago, didn't realize that someone noticed what we did because I was just told about it, even remembered my mourning dress, and even told me that I'm being remembered as a girl who is always kneeling.
I always offer masses for my dearly departed on All Souls Day and on their death anniversaries, and I always pray for them on my daily prayers 🙏

In Ireland we still have the " Months mind Mass ", In general Catholics still wake their dead at home on the 3rd day the Requim Mass is said and the corpse is either buried or cremated. Protestants tend to use funeral homes as the norm.It is very cathartic having your loved one there for 3 days. The corpse is never left alone, with a minimum of 3 people there until they go to Church.

    • @PatriciaMobilik-ub6vm

My young Daughter passed away unexpectedly white she was visiting Florida. She was baptized in a Catholic Church and went to a Catholic grade school. I'm still heartbroken because she didn't receive her last rites. I had to fly to Florida alone to bring my daughter home for her wake and burial. I had a Catholic priest do a mass at the funeral home while people were there. I put her in a Tomb, however not in a Catholic cemetery. The cemetery she's laid to rest is right by our home. I taught her to drive there and we would walk through that cemetery, together, because of its beauty. It has streams and bridges. However, it still bothers me that she never received her last rites. I pray for her Soul. I don't remember the mass. I was praying to God begging him to give me back my daughter. I was asking God to take me and let my Daughter live her life. The fact that she didn't receive her last rites bothers me.
Last year my Grandmother was at the end of her life. She was 101..She followed the Catholic Church and we couldn't be with her because of Covid, I called my Aunt and told her Grandmother needs her last rights. After she received them she peacefully passed.

The death of a member of the church provides the entire Christian community the opportunity to express care and concern towards those who mourn, evangelized those who have been away from the church, and renews and revitalizes parish life for those involved in the ministry.

Can someone explain what is happening in some Catholic churches? My family are not a Catholic. When my aunt, who was a Catholic, died we attended her memorial service. We were shocked and offended by the happy-clappy revivalist tenor of the service. The priest told people to turn to their neighbours and say hello, shake hands, even hug. There was no solemnity. I half expected the priest to bang a tambourine during the singing of hymns. We were in mourning yet these morons were behaving as if they were at a party. I grew up in a mainly Catholic area and I'm quite sure my old neighbours would also have been shocked by the shenanigans at that church.

    • @willweeverknow696
      @willweeverknow696 3 ปีที่แล้ว

my impression is that the service in USA tends to be less solemn than over here in Europe. Having said that, the basis idea is that we believe that death is not the end. The best is still to come. We will continue to live after death in the presence of good, so will your aunt. Therefore death, while being a sad event on earth, is nothing to fear. Or as I read on one funeral stone here: "If you knew how it is where I am know, you would ask yourself, why did we cry?" So, we celebrate our prospect of life after death. Hence the catholic mass is a happy, though somewhat solemn event.

When one dies and IF that person is received into the abode of Heaven; while we are weeping in sorrow here or picking on everything about the service being done to our satisfaction, their souls are in a bigger celebration our minds cannot comprehend while on earth!

To start to answer one of your questions,, the Sign of Peace (greeting your neighbor etc) is shared during a Mass as part of the service.
You start off by saying that you are not Catholic. By that I am going to conclude that you have not attended many Catholic Masses. So I would suggest that maybe you do a little research on what's "normal" for a Mass. It can vary widely by the parish.
I urge you to not judge what you have not attempted to understand.
Consider also, your aunt may have requested an upbeat tone for her Mass.

I was recommended to watch your video on heaven and have started to, but I'm not clear on the bridge from bodily resurrection to heaven. Will heaven be on this earth, and we with our bodies will walk about as before? Or, will we be discorporate spiritual entities in capital h Heaven? Jesus himself in Mtt 9:24 "the girl is not dead but sleeping." The body is what we call dead but the spirit that goes unto its maker goes on forth is plenty awake. Our bodies await the resurrection while the spirit rest or sleeps in peace of his maker. I've done it 60 odd years as my parents and grand parents have before me. It never occurred to me that Catholics would ignore their dead by not visiting them. :-( Month's Mind masses are not celebrated in the USA any more?? OMG. The local newspapers have Months Mind Masses as well as Anniversary Masses listed everyday with ads posted by grieving families. I get that people in Western countries may not display their beliefs so openly by placing newspaper advertisements to inform their friends and the community at large, but surely they at least offer Masses for their dead?

I think that the prayers for the family of the dead are important for the protection of these people. Grieving people can be targets of demonic forces because demons can impersonate the deceased and appear to the family of the deceased. This has happened to me in two cases where relatives died. And I've talked with other people who believe that their dead relative is appearing to them, some of these people very intelligent. One woman I worked with, a lawyer, believed that her deceased grandmother was appearing to her and watching over her. Another woman, a neighbor, would go to the cemetery where her grandparents were buried and talk to them, to actually pray to them, for help. This all sounds crazy, but a lot of intelligent or otherwise sane people fall for this kind of deception. It's overwhelming when you believe that your deceased loved one is actually appearing to you, and this experience seems to be common.
One radio host in the area where I live talked about a dream he had of his deceased daughter (Bob Dutko on a Detroit area radio station WMUZ). In the dream, he was walking up a staircase, until he reached a hallway at the top of the stairs. There were some doors along the hallway. He opened one, and saw his daughter. She ran to him and cried, begging for his help, for him to get her out of there. And he said to her to ask Jesus for help. At that point, his "daughter" turned into a monster and started attacking him. Because this wasn't his daughter at all, it was a demonic presence trying to influence him in his time of grief. This incident stuck me because it was similar to a dream I had of my mother after she died. The dream began, like this radio host's, with me walking up a staircase. I came to the top of the stairs to a hallway, and opened one of the doors in the hallway. And my mother was in there. Then "she" took me outside in a kind of courtyard of the building she was in. The courtyard was OK, but I was sort of disturbed for some reason by the high brick walls surrounding it. At one point, I stood on my toes trying to see over the wall, but it was too tall and I couldn't see anything. Then the dream ended. Some years later I came across a scripture in Isaiah that says that the Devil keeps his captives surrounded by tall walls that they can't see over, and realized I had seen those walls.
