Thank you for the video on Metacognitive Therapy! I produce attention training technique (ATT) videos on my channel and use binaural sounds (quasi "3D stereo") to increase concentration.

@@DocSnipes I already know a lot of the theory of MCT and I wanted to see if could learn some more. But there is a huge difference in knowing the theory and being able to use that knowledge. I did like the monkey mind analogy though. Seemed fitting. The metacognition that we are in control of our thoughts is incredibly tough for me to acknowledge. I feel like there are certain questions and thoughts that I do not want to think about and their is no benefit in doing so, yet they come back like a heavy magnet.
Anyway, I just wanted to say my thanks for the detailed work and spreading awareness for MCT.

I am really impressed by your common sense, healthy, practical videos.
Could you please consider a series of videos focused on helping a family cope with cancer?
Thanks for considering this request. I think your work is exceptional.

Thanks for this detailed video but two important techniques are missing - detached mindfulness and attention training technique. I have to wonder why?

Thanks for this information. I've spent a lot of time reading about depression, anxiety, mental health and therapy but can't remember ever hearing about MCT until a few weeks ago. It amazes me that it's not talked about more. (Possibly because I'm in the US and this seems to be better known in Europe, but the Internet is global!) It's a very interesting treatment approach. It does seem to have some commonalities with ACT and, to some extent, MBCT. I think the future of CBT will definitely include some of these concepts.

I have been trained in cbt and mindfulness, but after my training in mct I must say I have found the most effective treatment approach. It is not possible to include mct elements into the other approaches as they are contrary to each other. Many have tried without success. I would really recommend to try out mct in its ‘clean’ form, to see it unfold and disrupt the way we usually think about therapy.

Seeing as how MCT gets better results than CBT even in recent meta-analyses, I'm really surprised it's not more common.
My default heuristic is 'all therapies are equally effective', common factors and all. But MCT seems to go beyond that.

Hi. With my ruminating style of thinking (leading to depression and anxiety) I’m convinced this could help.
Problem is I have had no luck finding resources in the U.S.
Would you mind telling me of any resources on this type of therapy in the U.S. many thanks.

Hi Dr Snipes, thank you for a great video. I was wondering who the author is of the book that you mentioned at the end of the video. There are several Google books on metacognition. Which one do you recommend? Thank you so much🌺🌼

As a metacognitive therapist myself i will recommend the book ‘Live more think less’ by dr. Pia Callesen. It is written for a broad audience. If you are interested in alle the technicalities and theoretic foundation of this treatment you don’t want to miss reading the book ‘Metacognitive therapy for anxiety and depression’. Just, please, don’t start treating people after reading this, without proper training.
