Hey nico! I suggest you to add a motor to the barn door tracker it'll be excellent for dslr astrophotographers and it'll also make out fir a great video
Great demonstration with what one can do with a Dob Newtonian and a phone camera. But also, I sometimes use my SkyWatcher 200p with my Canon DSLR to take photos. You can actually get your camera to focus by removing the 1.25 adapter from the focuser and attaching the T-ring. I used this method many times and I was able to get the camera to focus easily.
Great video as always. When stacking, I would suggest aligning all the layers with the bottom one. Otherwise you may compound the errors made in the other layers.
I use a celestron digital camera adapter and put my Canon on it using an eyepiece. Great for video and stacking, plus it has zoom, great for multiple star systems and an 82 degree fov eyepiece. I can use my 102 triplet at high power for some objects. I get a lot of great seeing nights in the Winter here in the desert.
Even though I don't have Photoshop myself I still found this video useful for myself for my future pictures from my iPhone. I already have some pictures but not mounted on to the telescope so it will be very exciting how great the photos will be once I'll be able to mount it and take photos from there and then edit the pictures! Great video, really liked it and really helpful! :D
The Turing adapter looks nice. I wish they had it for androids but I don’t I’d be willing to spend $130 for it. I have a heck of a time using my current adapter,I can never get my camera to line up with the camera. I feel like the phone is always switching the camera on me and sometimes the adapter is against the buttons on the phone. Somehow I was able to capture the Orion nebula on my phone, I was stoked! It was a little blurry since I was holding the phone and it was a 2-3 second exposure.
My only complaint with the stacking through the eyepiece: I tried doing "Earthshine" stacking through the eyepiece and you have to reeeeeeeeally make sure the moon (any object) stays as centered in the eyepiece as possible. There is distortion throughout the entire eyepiece. There is much less distortion through the center and this is just a side effect with reflector telescopes
I don't think there are any phones that can do a 5 minutes exposure (may be wrong). But even if there is, to do a 5 minute exposure, you will have to use a tracking mount due to the earth's rotation.
An old DSLR that is technically way cheaper than an I phone can do a way better job. A person can buy an astro modified canon rebel T2i on the very cheap and achieve great results. If I did this with an I phone it would leave me wanting more and chasing the better quality. Clear skies.
You can do the same with your android. Go to camera and choose 1 second exposure and iso 3200 It depends on your phone if it does not have an exposure setting then your phone may not be capable of doing it
I tried it, results were much better this way for me. On a tracking mount and if there was a way to get uncompressed video on the phone, it could work better.
@@NebulaPhotos gotcha. Is that an iphone pro? They have a raw video format in cinema mode. I wonder if that is enough. Good to know though. Now my curiosity is settled.
Literally the exact video I was looking for! Perfect timing!
Explained the basic stacking process very well.
Wow the tip on using your red light into the tube to set up the iphone correctly is gold! That is always the hardest thing for me to do!
Thank you!!!!!!
26:55 I couldn’t ever understand the stacking and editing. That helped soooo much. Thank you!!!!
I will try it tonight, greetings from Chihuahua, Mexico
TFW you own an 8" Dobby and this hits close to home...🤔
Mine is like that but is instead of an 8 but a 5” tabletop, that can’t hold still
@@astrobob135 The 8 incher for sure won't fit on any table I own! 😂
Thank you Nico! I really appreciate your tutorial on this because I first want to start with a phone and telescope!
Many thanks Nico - I wasn't aware of the staking possibilities within PS.

very useful; especially the tip about using flashlight to position iphone over eyepiece.
Very good explanation ,thank you Nico for your work.
Sequator does very well with smartphone photo stacking when you use the partial sky feature and only highlight the eye piece area.
Love the visual discussion.
Keep the vids coming!!!
Thank you! ❤️
You're very welcome. Thanks for the super thanks! Clear skies, Nico
Absolutely agree 100%.🎉
Nice demo! Thx.

Does anybody notice that damn Nico is out in the snow in just a t-shirt and a jacket?😮🥶😆
Thanks i needed this video
pretty video
Great video!! I have a 8inch dob, what nebula would you recommend for me to view with just eyesight beside m42?

Deep Sky stacker.
Así hago con mis dos adaptadores para el telescopio y he tomado fotos hasta la nebulosa de la lira muy interesante amigo carvert
for Iphone 14 users, which is the best lens of the 3 to use?
this would have been great when i was starting out 2 years ago
You need a tracking dob, then this method would be a lot better and you could live stack in the app.
Even with tracking, tracking dobs are only available in alt az.
I have the green one.
Why did you not use deep sky stacker to stack it?
Stars were too trailed for that. Stars need to be reasonably round for programs like Deep Sky Stacker to work
Can i use 5 minutes exposure and lower the iso the finish it off by stacking 5 layer ?

Imaging M42 tonight with my new telescope.
Can you please suggest an app like night cap for Android
I've been searching for apps like that for months
And still found nothing..........
