Kanye been out since 1996 as a producer. He was on Jermaine Dupri 1998 album Life in 1472, he was on Foxy Brown Chyna Doll album, he was on Goodie Mob 1999 album World Party way before Roc-A-Fella. Kanye was underneath the wing of Bad Boy producer D. Dot. D. Dot was the one that brought Kanye to Roc-A-Fella.

Paying dues and letting the levels play out is something most people don’t like to do. Life is a PROCESS. It’s a series of steps to make it to your destination.
We want everything to happen how we want, where we want, and when we want. Most times we’re not even capable of handling what we’re asking for until we go through the steps.

People that spent less time was moving faster than me. I finally left and it felt good but I wish I would have done it sooner. I know Kanye personally and if you know him like I do then you know Mase was he was his favorite rapper. This his truth and opinion. I respect it. I think Kanye needed people like him in his life to tell him what he need to hear. I do think all the rappers minimize Dame’s importance on the roc. Dame gave the vision Jay just ran with it. The alcohol ( Armindale), Rocafella Films, Management was all Dame’s visions but Dame had a ego and made enemies.

    • @thecunninlynguist

If Jay didn't have Dame by his side, he wouldn't have gotten where he was as "fast" as he did. Dame's aggressiveness and belief in hov helped him get where he is today...but that aggressiveness is also what got him the boot once Jay wanted to take the reigns.

What consequence is saying makes perfect sense, especially the part about jayz being the boss and not being able to deal with the workers 24/7 hence the reason why you have a lieutenant, which was dame and biggs....... dame didnt necessarily took kanye as a serious rapper, he said that at the time camron and the other rocafella artist was poppin so much at the time that, when it was brought to him that kanye rap, he figured that even if kanye was wack he will just throw kanye on some records with cam and the other rocafella artist and it probably would still sell because the rocafella artist at the time were hot.......
