You’re not a journeyman if you start getting traded after 14-15 years … he was good enough and consistent enough to get two max contracts and a max rookie extension… hell of a career …. Even better investment portfolio…
This video didn't acknowledge Melo's lack of defense, that was the MAIN reason he didn't win a championship. It did touch on his lack of a transitional game to an extent, but Melo's defense was non-existent.
How was Melo stunted? Hes been a all star for over 10 years, considered one of the great offensive player in league history and is iconic. All he didnt do is win a championship.
I remember when he demanded a trade to the Knicks. And the Knicks stupidly gave up all they young assets to get him. Even tho he was going to sign there as a free agent.
Yeah that was a bad move the Knicks could have just kept they players and signed Carmelo Anthony as a free agent and they would have had a deeper team But bad teams make bad desperate moves
He never demanded to be traded … he said he didn’t wanna rebuild with Denver … the pieces the Knicks traded were either out of the league or washed in two years tops
Galinari was good for the nuggets I want to say he was the 1 or 2 scoring option...more important he would of been a great backup for Mello in New York...Wilson Chandler was a decent defender an ray Felton was a savy vet who could get hot an give u 20+ on any giving night, melo should of waited for free agency also didn't help that Amare start being injured more and more after melo arrived
The Knicks were on fire right before Melo got traded. And during Linsanity they were winning. Melo ended both runs. I called his entire career during his rookie year and everyone said I didnt know what I was talking about.
Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle accomplished as much if not more in New York with the Knicks as Carmelo in a shorter time. Jokic surpassed Melo aswell with the Nuggets. This hurts so much saying that Carmelo was one of if not my favourite player growing up.
What did they accomplish? Losing in the second round ? As a Knicks fan Melo never had the team these guys had … they still haven’t had a better year then 54 games and a division title
They didn’t accomplish more stop the bullshit. Knicks won 54 games with melo. And got to game 6 just like randle and Brunson. And you notice how you compared melo to 2 players? That’s how fucking nice he is.
Melo was more concerned about him getting his points not team wins. His former teammate Mr big shot C. Billups said it Melo would rather score 30 and loose then score 20 and win. Him not wanting J Lin on the Knicks shows he was selfish and wanted the spotlight for himself

IMO, I believe his marriage to LaLa was a key factor in the problems as well. She always wanted to be in an area with the glitz & glam (LA, NYC, Chi Town, NOLA, etc) and not comfortable in a low-key city for the long haul (Salt Lake City, Portland, OKC, etc) and Melo wanted to keep her happy for all it was worth. That team hopping, just like job hopping, makes other teams think twice about investing time & money into a player bouncing around
I don't understand how carmelo is a stunted growth story he's a hof and has done everything except win a ring or mvp the only thing i think he did wrong in his career was staying in new york for too long
I had to share this video with my son who was a HUGE fan of Melo since his college years!!! I never cared for him much because of the FACTS you stated in this video!! He was a Certified JACK! Only concerned about HIS stats!!! He could have been better had he not had that defect 🤨
Agree with a lot. 1 of his problems was being compared to LeBron, KD, too. My pops put me on game during the trio's primes last decade that since Bron brings up the ball and sets up plays he's really a PG or point forward, and therefore not comparable to the other 2. I personally felt the Knicks had almost everything they needed to compete in Melo's time, which I know you disagree with. I'm reminded of the 70s Knicks who had a lot of talent but not every big name and only really needed to mesh and to play for each other, as they said, to win. That last part is what the Melo-era Knicks lacked. They had too many knuckleheads on that team, and again, as my dad said, "they quit on Mike Woodson". I cannot lie, though: I loved watching the Knicks, back then.
Great talent. But never had the right team around him, nor mindset to lead a team to the chip. Imagine if Melo won a ring in NY. He'd be in goat conversations. Do you look at he and KD's career different, even though an argument can be made that Melo could've won with GS too!
When you don't get excited about playing defense the way you do about scoring AND you're getting all this money AND you're on teams where many move and think similar to you and your attitude about the game of basketball....a championship is likely never going to come to fruition.

I don’t understand why Carmelo Anthony is not playing in the league. He is one of the greats that was drafted in the same year as LeBron James. I know he hasn’t won an NBA championship in his career like LeBron. Somebody in the NBA gotta sign him and let him play.

What Melo needed coming into the league was veteran leadership that would hold him to a standard not give him the ball and get out of the way like he got in Denver. He should've been drafted by Detroit. That team would've made sure he achieved his potential. But he was spoiled in Denver and that was that. Melo is NOT TOP 75 ever.
Officially here watching the unofficial retrospective on his career after he announced his retirement not gonna be easy getting used to a post Kobe, LeBron, KD, melo, curry NBA
Listen I am huge Knicks fan and at one point Carmelo fan, melo had a few problems that derailed his career, first one was he was selfish and only cared about money and iso ball even tho he had the tools to be the a great all round star, 2nd he didn’t play team ball only hero ball, he made adjustments way to late in his career for his horrible habits (lack of defense, iso ball, etc)
He's the most underrated great of all time prejudice has a lot to do with It if he was a water boy like bron he would b playing this year he has not brought problems off court
Despite the Lakers still in the playoffs, they should’ve kept Melo to make life easier for Russ, instead of having Malik Monk. Last season’s team could’ve worked had it not been for poor GM decisions.

Thank you for stating the fact that Amar'e was the leader of that team until injury got him gie hard Knicks fan it was so hard to watch basketball when Melo was on the Knicks
You’re not a journeyman if you start getting traded after 14-15 years … he was good enough and consistent enough to get two max contracts and a max rookie extension… hell of a career …. Even better investment portfolio…
Can you do Bonzi Wells next? I always wondered what happened to him, last thing I remember about him was being a beast in the 06 playoffs!
One of the best around scorers ever! A walking bucket 😊😮
This video didn't acknowledge Melo's lack of defense, that was the MAIN reason he didn't win a championship. It did touch on his lack of a transitional game to an extent, but Melo's defense was non-existent.
Top 5 pure scorer ever
How was Melo stunted? Hes been a all star for over 10 years, considered one of the great offensive player in league history and is iconic. All he didnt do is win a championship.
I remember when he demanded a trade to the Knicks. And the Knicks stupidly gave up all they young assets to get him. Even tho he was going to sign there as a free agent.
Yeah that was a bad move the Knicks could have just kept they players and signed Carmelo Anthony as a free agent and they would have had a deeper team
But bad teams make bad desperate moves
He never demanded to be traded … he said he didn’t wanna rebuild with Denver … the pieces the Knicks traded were either out of the league or washed in two years tops
@@bjjohnson9710 Wilson chandler, Danilo galanari, Raymond Felton after that trade played for more then 2 years
@@jopilot4126 were they any good … look it up .. Raymond Felton was so bad he got traded back to the Knicks
I like Melo, I grew up watching him. But only averaging 2 assists a game as a superstar is bad and says a lot.
The Knicks were on fire right before Melo got traded. And during Linsanity they were winning. Melo ended both runs. I called his entire career during his rookie year and everyone said I didnt know what I was talking about.
He was this generations, Dominique Wilkins.
That 13 knicks are far better than the 23 team
🤥

"Maaad head taps"

Melo was more concerned about him getting his points not team wins. His former teammate Mr big shot C. Billups said it Melo would rather score 30 and loose then score 20 and win. Him not wanting J Lin on the Knicks shows he was selfish and wanted the spotlight for himself
Chancey Billups NBA champion and finals mvp and former teammate and was right about Carmelo Anthony and that's why his ego took him out league wouldn't come off bench and care about scoring and not playing defense and making teammates better
Video clip in Olympics of Kobe Bryant the leader saying to teammates we need to get up at 5am to work out
Carmelo Anthony said I wasnt getting up at 5am
Showing why Carmelo Anthony ain't no NBA champion level player 0 rings as a leader on teams

I wish he got more mature when he was still on NY. That was one of his best or the best form(talent-wise).
"SEEM like a ballhog" check Melo's assist stats
TRUTH BE TOLD he only "REQUESTED" a trade to New York because his wife LaLa wanted to be in New York to further her "ACTING CAREER"
I still feel like the Knicks idea for melo to go there was a rumor. He spoke on all the smoke saying he didn’t wanna leave Denver until George Karl & the gm started moving funny
Should’ve stayed in Denver, I’ll stand by that forever.
To keep a buck, this Stunted Growth episode was long overdue. 📼
Damn he right behind Shaq!! O'Neal gon luv dat😊

Can you do Marvin "Bad News" Barnes an ABA legend but disappeared in the NBA. Appreciate the content as always
My guy. So smooth with the rock. Straight bucket. Came in the league a winner. All he had to do was focus on defense more. Get them assists up. Real disappointed in him not coming through when he was supposed to. HOFer without a doubt however
melo is from Baltimore and reps it hard please bring that up.

I'm a Cuse guy so this is all very personal for me, but I think you've really made the fairest assessment of his game that I've seen anywhere. Wish he could have done more in the NBA, but yeah, limited by exactly what you outlined.
What are your thoughts on Atlanta hawks Josh Childress?
You should start a series of stunted growth for NBA legends just for laughs
I still say he should’ve went to Chicago instead of NY 😤😤😤 smh
One of the greatest chokers in nba history. Made it out the 1st round twice in 20 years
With his most consistent teammate being J.R. Smith?
Melo wasn’t a choker. His team was never good enough to compete in the playoffs outside. Melo balled.

Walter Berry and Fennis Dembo plz
IMO, I believe his marriage to LaLa was a key factor in the problems as well. She always wanted to be in an area with the glitz & glam (LA, NYC, Chi Town, NOLA, etc) and not comfortable in a low-key city for the long haul (Salt Lake City, Portland, OKC, etc) and Melo wanted to keep her happy for all it was worth. That team hopping, just like job hopping, makes other teams think twice about investing time & money into a player bouncing around
I don't understand how carmelo is a stunted growth story he's a hof and has done everything except win a ring or mvp the only thing i think he did wrong in his career was staying in new york for too long
Doing it for views
What the hell, this dude is not stunted in any way. Like you said he's top 75 of all time, he did his thing man give him his due.
I had to share this video with my son who was a HUGE fan of Melo since his college years!!! I never cared for him much because of the FACTS you stated in this video!! He was a Certified JACK! Only concerned about HIS stats!!! He could have been better had he not had that defect 🤨
Dam u been on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 500 degreez
Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett started that trend, not Bron
Wow i didn't see this one coming but it makes sense
I cannot lie, though: I loved watching the Knicks, back then.
if he didn't like Linsanity, he would definitely not like sharing the ball with other stars
I think Carmelo’s biggest mistake was going to New York
Had Melo come out in 2004 he’d be more appreciated. I think Wade and LeBron just had better careers. He’s still very rich and a HOF player
With no ring!
Dwayne Wade better player then Carmelo Anthony
LeBron wayyy better player then Carmelo Anthony
Great talent. But never had the right team around him, nor mindset to lead a team to the chip. Imagine if Melo won a ring in NY. He'd be in goat conversations. Do you look at he and KD's career different, even though an argument can be made that Melo could've won with GS too!
When you don't get excited about playing defense the way you do about scoring AND you're getting all this money AND you're on teams where many move and think similar to you and your attitude about the game of basketball....a championship is likely never going to come to fruition.
1996 Washington Bullets look at that roster and tell me they don't fit Stunted growth
He wouldn’t be in the goat convo bro chill 🤣🤦🏾♂️
Melo choose money over winning facts he was supposed to join bron and wade after he sighed with Knicks the heat went and got bosh so bosh has MELO two rings
Yo now you are reaching bro lol Thats The God now u hitting home lol
Linsanity was such a lost opportunity for Carmelo and the Knicks franchise

@@stuntedgrowth my guy thank you
Idk about stunted growth when it comes to Melo..he had a great career
Love the content on this channel, but I disagree on #1 & #2
I’d say #1: Not being drafted by the Pistons
#2: Leaving Denver
carmelo easily could of had triple doubles the way he commanded double teams. Especially in the Pinch Post I cant tell how many times 3 point shooters were open or back cuts. Melo was just selfish and didn't know how to incorporate his team.
I don’t understand why Carmelo Anthony is not playing in the league. He is one of the greats that was drafted in the same year as LeBron James. I know he hasn’t won an NBA championship in his career like LeBron. Somebody in the NBA gotta sign him and let him play.
Then you really dont understand basketball and just look at big names
Carmelo Anthony almost 40 years old and plays no defense and doesnt make teammates better and 0 rings doesn't bring championship experience so that's why no NBA teams want him
Lakers won championship 2020 and made playoffs 2021 and signed Carmelo Anthony and missed playoffs 2022
And stop comparing the two because LeBron is way better player then Carmelo
And wrong no NBA team has to sign Carmelo Anthony and let him play that's not in rule books his career is over and yall need to deal with it
I get it…he can’t always be a one-man show. He may be a future Hall of Famer, but he gotten too old and was at the end of his career. He finally retired after sitting out for the entire 2022-23 season. He only played 19 seasons with the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trailblazers and Los Angeles Lakers. Well, he only cares about scoring rather than being a team player and wasn’t a championship contender.
