It's kind of our aim whilst we're here to show all the angles you don't see on TV. We were surprised at how few spectator videos there are from Le Mans over the years. Fun to find out, if a little annoying that the maps here aren't too detailed. As for the Camaro keeping people up, I dread to think how people survived in the days of the Matras being here lol
the 100th anniversary 24 Hours of Le Mans was ALWAYS going to be special, but THIS grid just makes sure it will be SPECTACULAR! Full field of top class cars (LMH & LMDh), still plenty of LMP2 entries, Lots of GTE cars and garage 56 giving is the thunderous roar of a NASCAR V8 engine! Just to think, next year we get BMW and others at the front of the field too! Sports car racing of WEC and IMSA and Le Mans is in such a great place right now!
Let's hope it stays. These series all come and go. I used to go to Lime Rock for the American LeMans series (IMSA) and it was great. Prototypes and multiple classes. Then they split it up so only the GT racing was there. The fields keep getting smaller and smaller and I decided it's just not worth the ticket for a small and boring field. I LOVE GT racing, but these series all go in and out of style. I love seeing the current state and hope it's here for a while.
They seemed cursed, but i see videos that old gen nascars have been retrofitted with actual headlights and tailights for some, i'm referring to the street legal versions. Not the actual race track version.
Dont apologize for this video. Some of the best angles ive ever seen from this track and incredible sounds. The mix of engine sounds is heaven. No mistaking that big V8 sound.
As an American, it is so wild hearing the very distinctive (and very familiar for me) NASCAR V8 mixed in with all the high-revving European and Asian engines. That said, the engine note trophy has to go to the Cadillac LMPs. So good.
You would have loved the Northstar V8s in the Original Cadillac LMPs from 2000. Sadly no higher quality videos of them driven in anger exist but the sound is very similar.
I normally can't be arsed to watch longer motorsport compilations to the end, but this just has so much variety i can't keep my eyes off of the screen!

those could actually be modified to be proper GTEs. Like there is Mustang GT4 in some endurance series. Although I doubt Chevy would want the Camaro in GTE as an opponent for the Corvette. (not that familiar with V8 supercars specs, hard to catch a race here in Europe, but I imagine they are somewhere around GT4-GT3)
Definitely not. Cornering speed and exit speeds actually are good. It is a bit more draggy though so it "stalls" more at mid of straight but it won't be "weird sheep" in mix - just great fun entry to juice up audio and visual part =))
If they can figure out the deck lid aero they're going to be very quick. If active aero were allowed and they could winch that down like DRS, game over.
Paired with the fact that it just looks so overweight compared to the regulars in sports car racing. I'm glad HMS put together a good representative for American Stock Cars. I've always been curious to see what my favorite type of race car could do against its more agile competitors. And the numbers for the Gen7 car say, it holds its own. I'm hearing it's on par with GTE cars, which again, considering that it's an overweight lump of a race car, is pretty damn good. Makes sense in a way. It's basically an Australian V8 Supercar now. When it ditched the old tube frame chassis (and the old Twisted Sister way of building) they became a little more worthy of road courses. The Gen7 car is symmetrical for the first time in decades, and got modernized suspension bits which put it on par with modern sports cars.
I think it would be great if there was a class regularily raced where you would have cars like the Garage56, like exotic cars not matching the regular classes like LMH or GT etc...
My tickets are in pocket my 6th time to Le Mans but i think this year will be amazing !!! Best cars for the best race...a century of emotions at its peak. Enjoy this race all over the world buddies ❤

the actualy nascar cup series cars run over 200, in fact back in the 60s at texas world speedway the big actual real cars modified into race cars with the old skinny race tires ran over 200 mph.

Garage 56 actually looks like it might be able to keep up with some of the lower LMP tiers. It was keeping a good distance between itself and an LMP2/3, both in front of and behind it at around the 10 minute mark. It seems like it's somewhere in between them and LMGTE. Looks very competitive, tbh.
@@needsLITHIUM it's no where near the LMP2s mate, it only managed a best of 3:53 on a clean lap with no traffic interference and (relatively) fresh tyres. Infact, that's 6 seconds of the pace of the LMGTE lap record of 3:47, set in qualifying during the 2021 event. And that's despite the (heavily modifed) cup car running an unrestricted motor pushing 1,000+ HP and torque. The cup car will be handedly smashed flat by the sport prototypes (both the class 2 and hupercars). Oh, and there are no LMP3s competing at Le Mans. Never have been, not during the 24hr race that is.

@@jessekleidon9503 Your numbers are backwards. 19 of the LMGTE cars had a averaged of 3:53 qualifying lap time while the NASCAR Camaro posted 3:47. That’s 13 seconds behind the quickest LMP2 cars over 13 kilometers. 1 second over 1 kilometer average is the reason why it seems to keep up with the LMP2 cars when passed. The Camaro also qualified quicker than two of the LMP2 cars.

The last time a pushrod V8 ran at Le Mans was in 2019 with the C7R. Every other V8 entry has been DOHC.

It's barely a procup car. It weighs 600lbs less, has a bigger fuel cell, better symmetrical suspension and proper brakes.

Changed break discs to carbon, distributed fuel cel, added lots of carbon, overall its 10s faster in charlotte than a regular nascar. I love it

Man I really wish that Acura was doing WEC as well. Their ARX-06 has been pretty strong in IMSA and it’d be great to see them mixing it up at LeMans.

Garage 56 actually looks like it might be able to keep up with some of the lower LMP tiers. It was keeping a good distance between itself and an LMP2/3, both in front of and behind it at around the 10 minute mark. It seems like it's somewhere in between them and LMGTE. Looks very competitive, tbh.
@@needsLITHIUM it's no where near the LMP2s mate, it only managed a best of 3:53 on a clean lap with no traffic interference and (relatively) fresh tyres. Infact, that's 6 seconds of the pace of the LMGTE lap record of 3:47, set in qualifying during the 2021 event. And that's despite the (heavily modifed) cup car running an unrestricted motor pushing 1,000+ HP and torque. The cup car will be handedly smashed flat by the sport prototypes (both the class 2 and hupercars). Oh, and there are no LMP3s competing at Le Mans. Never have been, not during the 24hr race that is.
@@jessekleidon9503 It can keep up with them on some of the turns, but yes, the lap times tell all. I watched that interview with Jenson Button after seeing this video, so I didn't have all the facts yet, to be fair.

@@jessekleidon9503 Your numbers are backwards. 19 of the LMGTE cars had a averaged of 3:53 qualifying lap time while the NASCAR Camaro posted 3:47.
That’s 13 seconds behind the quickest LMP2 cars over 13 kilometers. 1 second over 1 kilometer average is the reason why it seems to keep up with the LMP2 cars when passed. The Camaro also qualified quicker than two of the LMP2 cars.
