Topic has Chip to work with him on shooting 3s Dort and Caurso to help him play better defense and Sga to teach him how to be more efficient and changing pace while driving should be huge for a young skilled guard like Topic. But in the end it on Topic has to put in the work but he has outstanding people around him to learn from to fix his weaknesses.
It will definately be up to him for the most part, but like you said and I mentioned in the video is he is going to be set up and insulted really nicely by a ton of talented players and coaches for him to learn from.
Future draft steal almost demands an early lack of productivity. Coming off the knee injury, I certainly don't expect Topic to play much in the regular season. He could make a late season or playoff appearance with an injury or two. He does remind me of Luka because he excels at pace. Good vision and needs to get better from deep. Development of the shot is easier than vision and feel. Very hard to classify a #12 pick as a bust, so I agree he has a good chance to be a steal.
I know this vid is a month old, but I'm not nearly as high on Topic as other Thunder fans. I think his driving leads a lot to be desired and he will struggle to get the same penetration or even the ball into the basket with the bigs he will be up against in the NBA. I think his lack of a 3 point shot is what lends him to so many Giddey comparisons, and when you compare that to Giddey's passing in size, it's fair to feel like it was a downgrade. I think if Topic was such a high level talent in the draft, there were teams higher that 12, that don't mind tanking for a year to be the Flagg sweeps, that would have taken him. I think him sliding to 12 speaks volumes, the fact that he won't play for a year, and then he is going to struggle to crack the rotation after this upcoming season. I think Tre Mann is a better player and even he had a hard time getting minutes.
How ironic. Get CP3 for Russ * get Topic for CP3. Reminds me of the 5 straight Nets PG trades. Robert Pack for Sam Cassell. Cassell for Stephon Marbury. Marbury for Jason Kidd. Kidd for Devin Harris. Harris for Deron Williams. Then Williams fell apart but the Nets had a great PG run
He already has good mechanics as a shooter …. If he continues to work hard … he should be a really good player !! The Thunder had him as the #4 on THEIR board …. I trust the Thunder on talent evaluation
Between Presti and co’s talent evaluation and the player development between Mark’s staff and Chip Engelland working on his shot, I’m super intrigued to see how Topić looks in a couple of years!
I like the way your video is structured It gives some humor ..you didn't really just say that got a laugh out of me😅😅 ...and you were right i saw a little Shai in his drives .
He does a great job of playing off best to keep defenders out of rhythm. It’s always interesting to see how guys figure out how to adapt to maybe not having the highest end physical tools and still being able to be really successful in creating space.
That is a good question. I am not totally sure, Josh absolutely has a very unique and special talent. I'm sure Mark will try out quite a few different guys out and see who sticks.
He made it during his final season with the Spurs in 2022. He technically was an injury replacement, but he does have one all star game appearance on his resume.
No chance especially with Markkanen signing that deal and Presti knows more than anyone they would be giving too much depth and assets for an expiring contract
Solid analysis!
Thanks! Solid comment too 🤝
Great work as always
Thank you! I’m glad you are enjoying my videos 💙

Nobody:
Wiggins saving basketball
Not the hero we deserved, but the hero we needed.

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy the jokes hahhaa if I can get any excuse to include a clip of Booker T I’m going to take it 😂
How he paces himself he reminds me more of SGA than Giddy

Wonder how he is at inbounding the ball, we are going to have to replace that very important talent, giddey had

Lopez Thomas Garcia Thomas Brown Joseph
Murray has never made an All Star team.

Hopefully we trade his ass for Lauri
