    Ppl don't think the extra foot and a half of the Sprekko is a big deal but it makes a huge difference with parking and squeezing into campspaces. Diesel and DEF is something extra I don't want to deal with and one can get the same lift for the Trekko , so I choose Trekko.😉

      Agreed. A Ford Transit extended is 22'2" long. For an extra 10" of length, you get so much more interior space and a crapload more storage and you do not have to compromise on being able to safely carry more passengers while still having a dedicated shower/bathroom and a north south bedroom that allows people to get out of bed without crawling over their partner. But step up to something that is around 25' long, and that extra two feet can make a massive difference, especially for a vehicle that will be your sole method of non-bicycle transportation on your trips. Look at the European RV market and the common "semi-integrated" (akin to what we call "B+") offerings from companies like Hymer, Adria, Cathago, etc., most of them are 699cm long which is just under 23'.
      People also overlook how narrow these Ekkos are, which helps quite a bit with parkability and maneuverabilty as well. For an apples to apples comparison, the Ekko is four inches more narrow than something like a Navion and is almost seven inches more narrow than something like a Leisure Travel Vans B+.

    Yeah, I thought I wanted a Transit Ekko but getting the outdoor kitchen is not a good trade for comfort of the Sprinter. It's worth the extra $10k. The only mods I'd want is the extra fuel tank and litterbox access from the inside to one of the outer storage bins on the passenger side. You can put an extra refrigerator, grill, and table in the garage yourself no need to have it installed. I'm so in love with the wood-grain finish on the Sprinter interior, that really warms up the place. Great video!

    Trekko - Gas is easier to find and it doesnt have Def, More Dealerships for maintenance, and more power. BUT the Sprekko is such a nicer layout..... Can WE PLEASE GET THE SPREKKO STYLE LAYOUT ON THE TREKKO PLEASE! We don't need the extra garage room or the 4" of bed (even though I do), but that front seating area and where the fridge location is SO much better. When I'm sitting lounging in my $200k+ MSRP RV I don't want to sit on public bus seats!

    • @thevagabondonwheels4918

      I just want the Trekko to have the Sprekko kitchen layout, ideally to include the convection. What I do not want is the extra almost 2' in length. If I wanted a ~25 foot RV, I would probably skip both and just get a small class C, although options without slides are not great.

    I prefer cooking with gas and prefer having the outdoor kitchen but I absolutely love the dining/lounge area on the Sprinter model. @ What is the “fit” RV? I know there is not going to be a perfect RV where you find everything that you want. The only way is if you have it custom built but I’d like to see my options. I keep going back to the Winnebago Travato 59K. I like the versatility and the convenience of the van campers especially the ability to street park. I’m concerned with the reputation some of the manufacturers have, for example Thor industries which has a negative reputation for their quality. I really wanted the Ford Transit chassis for the 4/all wheel drive but haven’t had luck finding one.

A lot more head room for those front seats, too. Really wish Winnebago had gone the whole distance here with 48v architecture as in the Revel and Travato.

    I believe they put the lock on the cassette toilet door so small children can't crawl into it and get stuck or something. I've noticed that most if not all that have that type of black "tank" do have locks. I am only assuming they do it for some safety reason.

    Ford, but with the Sprinter's kitchen. Still a couple of years away from a purchase so hopefully that is an option. Prefer the Ford, prefer the short length. I am 6'3" and I'd rather sacrifice the vehicle length even with the too-short beds.

  • @jniemec

    I like everything about the Transit Ekko except that horrible lounge area, which is a deal breaker. Winnebago should take notes from the Aeon RV layout which moves the bath into the entryway and turns the bed sideways in favor of a couch size lounge area..

    • @thevagabondonwheels4918
      @thevagabondonwheels4918 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The lounge area is that way because it offers two actually safe passenger seats. The Sprinter, debatably, has one. Almost no other class B+s or small C's have any at all. The Ekkos, the Transit model in particular, is pretty much the only European style small motorhome on the U.S. market, although from the outside it doesn't look like one.

      I’ve heard it is one of the main downsides of the MB Sprinter chassis but I so love everything about the Ekko on the Sprinter chassis model minus, the no outdoor kitchen. If the Transit model had the same lounge/dining area as the Sprinter model, I’d be all over it!! It seems I’m back to the Travato. If I’m going to go bigger and more expensive, I’d rather have the design of the Sprinter model.

  • @truckr74
    @truckr74 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I’d go with the Ford, I deliver Mercedes Sprinters for a living. They can be problematic, I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve loaded them with check engine lights on or dead batteries brand new from the plant in South Carolina. And Mercedes dealerships are far and in between compared to Ford. Good luck finding someone who can work on them in the middle of nowhere.

    • @thevagabondonwheels4918
      @thevagabondonwheels4918 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's even worse than that. As few Mercedes dealers as there are, only a subset of them will work on a Sprinter van, let alone a Sprinter RV. Sprinters are just fine as fleet vehicles so long as you confirm, as a business owner, that there is a service provider nearby you can contract with. But once you start wandering the country with one, you are rolling the dice.

      IDK Ford quality has been on a downward trajectory since Alan Mulally departed Ford. If you are planning to trade the Ekko every two years before the Ford parts and components are engineered to fail then the Ford might be a good choice. Family of Ford retirees so we completely understand why Ford quality has declined. Until they have engineer as CEO again, quality is unlikely to improve.
