This was a well organized and well delivered summary! I'm sure the public and media will have no problem appreciating all of the nuance here and won't overinterpret this study at all! /s

I like that you've talked about colliders here - gender is a proxy for other factors that are often overlooked

I believe it 🤷🏻‍♀️ especially because of the thousands of comments I've seen of women/afab/female presenting people that have accounted their experiences dealing with health care providers. Including myself. There's also a large disparity in studies for female only diseases/issues.

Anecdotally (in a country where those colliders do not exist) I've noticed that female doctors have generally been much more emphatic than their male counterparts. Less pointed towards the data, more towards what the patient is reporting. This is not always useful but in my limited experience it's generally given better results.

took me 8 days to stop dismissing this out of hand and look into the study.
can't lie; rather shocked to find a decently run study with nuanced and interesting results.
Further research and papers are needed sure but it's still interesting 🤔
    nice upload again Doctor

Your hurt feelings are a blind spot that I hope you are aware of in your profession.

Dr, if the results were the other way around you wouldn't have dared to publish the video for fear od being called misogynist.
But i would say that another hidden factor is that women usually consult earlier than men and usially for less severe symptoms, which leads to better outcome. Women are better in "reassuring" the patients which leads to complete resolution of symptoms. I see it everyday

Nope. In fact many would welcome the study. This is no different than studies that show men commit more crimes. Its just a simple fact. Welcome to empirical data.

This was interesting. Now, when I have a choice, I will have a woman doctor. They're more fun anyway.

Of course they are not. We women like to think we are better at everything these days. Poor men! I have had my share of both good and bad doctors regardless of gender.

If you’re going to compare the betterness of the sexes as medical doctors I say currently no. Dr. Ben Carson holds the trophy on that. Sure a woman could come along and be more intelligent and successful, but imo it has not happened. 4/23/2024

Even if that's true, it doesn't mean that the median male doctor is better than the median female doctor so it could still be very likely that you end up at a better or worse doctor.
