I'm a beginner and no, that thought didn't even cross my mind. It seems silly to be fixated on height when I specifically chose to do low-height climbing (bouldering) instead of greater-height climbing (roped).
I also didn't do any of the other things that Magnus did in an attempt to appear beginnerish, such as not sticking to the colour of the climb (how hard can understanding colour-coding be lol), using the descent holds (i.e. those grey ones you're only supposed to use while descending) while climbing up, pant so much (or at all), etc. I think all of those things might be stereotypes that advanced climbers have of beginners that don't actually hold true in reality.

I reckon with all your years of experience, if someone pretend to be bad/beginner you'd pick up on something being suss pretty quick, even if you couldn't put your finger on it. I reckon you've got really good muscle memory on how to fall properly without hurting yourself, and you'd probably find it difficult to fall like a beginner. Hi there, you can definitely start climbing, irrespective of BMI.
I have a guide here, and it says that it is safe (low injury rare) to climb 4a-c when your bmi is 27. So when you start climbing when your bmi is even higher, you can definitely start on 2s or 3s with low injury rate.
And my experience is that when you start climbing, you will start gaining muscle really fast, which helps A LOT with fat burning.
So..... You should definitely try climbing! You can probably pair up with someone your level at the gym. Climbing people tend to be the quite relaxed go with the flow type. And encourage eachother.

Dont be too tough with yourself, do it if you like it and if you feel that it gives you any kind of reward for yourself and focus on yourself, dont care about the others cause nobody will judge you trust me, and if they do they are just pieces of shit

Because of you at 47 I started bouldering 3 days a week for the last 4 months. I have been a multi sport athelete my whole life but had a fracture in L5 when I was 23 but no nerve damage just pain and a long recovery then at 35 broke my arm and needed rebuilt with plates 3 surgeries and bone graphs. I am currently projecting v4,v5 ish and unbelievably putting on muscle mass like I was a kid again. Thanks for inspiring me. Also the amount I have been able to learn about climbing from your videos has been crazy. It has helped a ton. Especially on reading routes.

Hi Magnus, I don’t know if you read these but I just wanted to thank you. I have never rock climbed in my life but I found your channel years ago and watched a lot of your stuff. I ended up forgetting about it and then was reintroduced because of your Ludwig collab! Anyways, I’ve been struggling with really bad anxiety for a while now but I just went through a week of nearly constant panic attacks, day in day out. It was undoubtedly the worst time of my life and every day felt like hell. The one thing that helped me through it was your videos. Whenever I started to feel anxious I would open TH-cam and start watching the magical and humble Norwegian man flash V9s. For some reason, I found comfort in your videos and they really helped to ground me (pun intended). Now I have a goal for myself. To overcome this crippling anxiety and get myself in my local rock gym! But what I really want to say is thank you. And I hope you know that your videos do more than entertain. They inspire others every day!

      1) I hope you feel better and 2) Get climbing! It's so much fun! If you struggle with anxiety/depression, physical exercise is actually one of the best therapies (about as effective as medical antidepressants according to the current literature, though both should be used as needed), so it should help in more ways than one!
