I have not tried a lot of Indian dishes....but i will never forget the one dish ...Biriyani!!!! It was served on my flight from the Middle East to Mumbai. The plane smelt awesome!!! I wanted to get a second serving but they were out! I have to say it was the best dish I tasted in my whole life!!! I swear I am not lying! Biriyani- it is the foods for the Gods!!

The softness of the idly is a great factor in the experience. You get to feel it when you use your finger and mix it with chutney and/or sambar. This experience is lost when you use knife and fork.
Chicken 65 biriyaji is common in India.., With regular biriyani, the chicken gets dried out.. it doesn't taste as regular chicken , so make Chicken 65 seperate & include in the biriyani.
Saravana Bhawan is an older chain...it's kind of reputed so they're not so much into getting great snacks...the place you visited must be catering to a modern audience in America.
Hi David, the Roti that you had in India Palace restaurant was not Roomali roti. It was the Laccha Roti/Laccha Parantha because it has layers. Roomali roti is very thin and is like a handkerchief.

As soon as they called Lacchha, Roomali, I went crazy, came down to see if all the Indians are going crazy as well, apparently not. Roomali Roti doesn't have layers bruh

The proportions are different and bada is mostly lentil. 2: the bread they are eating in ‘India place’ was not rumali roti but they kept mentioning it with that name. David is very technical and he stays very true to the culture n cosines. Wanted to point this out.
And you made even bigger mistakes . There is nothing called better . It’s called batter . And you can technically use the same batter for both idli and dosa . It’s just personal choices and how you want . There’s nothing called technical way to make idli and dosa . It differs within south . Instead of pointing out silly mistakes try to appreciate when someone tries to spread positivity about a culture . Somehow we Indians are very interested in doing nitty picking of minute details
We can get south indian food whereever you go in the world. Taste these foods 1.Akki roti with cocunt chutney 2.paddu 3.Poori sagu 4.Puliyogere 5.Vangibath 6.Besebelabath 7.pongal 8.Neer dosa 9.Appam 10 Karabath

"Sag" just means "leafy green". Sag paneer is most of the time palak paneer, though sometimes you might have a mix of spinach and fenugreek. Mustard leaves are, as far as I know, never used for sag paneer.

There's like a 100 things from Kerala that you are missing out on, but yah, beef and parotta! always epic. You need to try Chicken roast, the different types of chicken curry, appam and stew (breaky), Kerala Fish Curry (the red one).
Real Indian food (home-cooked) aint so rich n heavy. Its usually kept for special days or occasions. Cream is is a royal ingredient for average Indians.

On the table, at the North Indian restaurant, that's not romali roti, those are Lacha Parathas.
There's also chilli beef, that no one talks about (I think its a fusion dish, super spicy, strip beef, long chilli peppers) found only in the south.
