Finally feeling comfortable on my skates after starting up again last August. It had been 22 years so I'm happy to be grinding, especially topsides on ledges again - but I'm having the hardest time spinning. Nothing but sloppy 360's and under rotated 540's to slams. Hopefully I can learn something from ya! You kill it on skates
My 540s have always been pretty sketchy. I would throw my rear foot back, with no pop.. always looked kinda horrible watching them back on video. These tips are super helpful. Nice one!!
Great video as always dude, you make it look so easy!.. but I'm actually gonna disagree about the foot position on landing. When I teach 180's your feet don't change position so your head stays spotting your landing and doesn't have to spin 360 and leave where your looking. Following this rule, a 540 should land with the RIGHT foot behind if jumping to the left, and LEFT foot behind jumping to the right. Otherwise your head is doing an extra unnecessary rotation! I hope that makes sense? Keep up the videos man, you're awesome 🤘
Totally agree, he even says it himself at 04:06. Thanks for this explanation Josh. If I throw my right arm when my right food should behind, I spin to the left.
Just got back into blading after 17 years away... Back in the day there was no TH-cam, so you kinda had to just throw yourself off shit to figure it out. I just landed my first 5 since I was 18 today, and I'm sure it was messy as hell but it felt good. Kinda the same old approach though; sling your arm and hope for the best lol. Be nice to learn sightly more conscious ways of thinking about tricks like this. Thanks for posting!
This is awesome, my kid [9yo] is trying to hit this - he nails 360s pretty well, but doesn't have the technique knowledge to progress it properly, so this really helps. ... and I sure as hell can't help, I'm more of a danger to myself.
imho you should make videos on how to jump, since most people are not from usa, dont have skate bros or skateparks im a freeskater and i Need advanced jump tutorials
Your videos are so clean and helpful. I just think i'm confused because you said in "how to 180" video, that if you spin to the left, you should land with right foot behind and in this one the opposite. Clear up this confusion for me, please ♥.
Thank you , They are both correct. One way is a "shorter" 180 and the other is complete. There's 180s that are shifty style, that's the short way and the other is complete as in you lose sight of your landing for just a moment, Hope that helps.
I noticed your stance when popping is the same regardless of doing the 540 switch or regular. when i do 360's it helps me a lot when starting with a frontside 180 (followed by a backside 180 in the air). Do you have any opinions on starting with a frontside or backside 180' (it seems that you regular 540 is starting with an back 180, your switch 540 starts with an front 180)
Shit. Now I understand my problem: I rotate left, but I land right foot back when doing 180: th-cam.com/video/Acxq7T3Cnzw/w-d-xo.html Not sure how to fix that, both feel natural but are probably not going to help with 540s.
Hi there, I really like your videos, they are great! But I don't understand the theory in turning. Why is it if you land right footed back, you turn to the right and vise versa? In the video of Shaun from ShopTask he actually does it the other way around. th-cam.com/video/YTx3OtVBhsc/w-d-xo.html So can you maybe elaborate on the turning theory? because I really want to learn the 540in the best way!
Shaun is awesome, that tutorial is great. If you notice he show to versions of a 180. One being a "shifty" 180 which is shorter then the 2nd 180 he does full ending with the left shoulder n]back vs the right. The same can be done with 540. One is shorter of a rotation than the other. Both are 540 though lol Hope that helps. Learn both, I do em both ways and land differently depending on obstacles.
Thanks! Great video! 1.9K people are going to be 540ing on the grass tonight.

Also, I was supposed to head to the skatepark this morning but think I'm just gonna practice these spins in my garden. Lol xD

El problema que tengo es que soy ambidiestro con las piernas. Entonces al caer caigo con cualquiera y no se balancearme bien ni a donde girar.
si giras a la derecha cae con el pie izquierdo atras
si giras a la izquierda cae con el pie derecho atras

Same can be said about 540s/900s
did he just started with “what’s up playfam!”???
I'm a Rollerblader. So this tutorial is geared to learning 540s on Rollerblades 🤘
He says what’s up BladeFam
I land right foot back but spin to the left
i have the same situation.
