    Really great videos man .... I am based in UK and returning to skating after an 18 yr lay off. Amazing to have these tutorials to learn tricks I could never master before and being older now the importance of body conditioning I love that you highlight that. You are a fantastic instructor dude. Thank you.

    Tipp #1 that really helped me:
    Don't jump ON the box. Jump beside and just bend your feet as much as you can and keep your body weight on the side of the box. You actually bend your feet automatically if you don't jump on the box.

    The note about not jumping into it like a regular soul grind is 100% legit because in the beginning I slipped out of a sweatstance many times due to my foot missing the ledge

    I've been skating for about 20 years now and I have never actually been a good or talented skater at all. I also have developed a lot of bad habits and cheating in my skating, for example I do topsouls on ledges as if I was doing a bs torqueslide with the front foot and just place the topside foot behind that torque foot. Means I can only do topside torquesouls on ledges. I will give your tips a try and start stretching before skating, wearing protective gear so that I don't have to be scared as shit and then hopefully will be able to 're-learn' some of my tricks and become a better and cleaner skater in general. Thank you so much for your tutorials and keep up the great work. By the way , I found your channel because Lawrence from b2b had the link to your channel in his video description. I think it's important and really cool when you TH-cam skaters collaborate with your work and I'm convinced that's a great way to get in some new people to aggressive inline Skating. 💪 Viele Grüße aus Deutschland ! 🇩🇪

    Actually I've been inspired by multiple channels (shop taks, back to blading, lino, ...) and I have to admit all of you are doing a great job. personally I have to point out, that your approach to actually break down a trick to start in your head visualizing first is THE best. at least to me. thank you! i'll incorporate stretching and will freakin hit the royale this year and maybe top soul grind.

      BTW visualizing the thing can definitely help a lot. I've even learned to do a few things when dreaming about them, skating and in life. Literally, struggling with something for weeks perhaps, and nailing it after dreaming of myself doing it. Mind can do wonders!

    Thanks for the great tutorial. A good training for me to get a bit of "topside"-feel was to do X-Grinds. You have one foot as a safe soulfoot and the otherone as a topside tryout-foot. If you miss most of the time nothing happens and the topsided foot just does a kinda cess slide. I still can't do topsoul since for me the front foot feels akward. topacid feels more natural. Furthermore I prefer sweatstance as the first soul trick sinc you can actually easily see your topsoulfoot landing and locking in.

  • @TheGingerBeef

    Excellent point on visualization, this is such an understated phenomenon. I finally got my first royale after just sitting all winter day dreaming about it. It really helps you get that mental component of skating out of the way long before you get to the spot.

I feel like your videos keep getting better and better. Loved this breakdown especially. Super detailed and well-thought-out! 90% mental 10% physical to nail a trick...Ive always said this. Its so very strange explaining a trick routine to someone step by step, it seems so long and takes forever when in reality everything is happening all at once within mere seconds. Topsouls are extremely difficult to nail, my balance is always sketchy and I end up pulling out of it early...hard to perfect, awesome explanation here rhough...i like your routine...

      hahah As you say? 90% mental / 10% physical? then according to your video parts of franky morales or ryan arnold (promo usd carbon) and (st.vine II video) it's all mental ... getting on a railing of 1'66 from reverse 270 shifty to top makio reverse out is mental clear ... you must be 15 years old ...

I’m only a year into blading and doing it to stay active and maybe lose some weight, but I started doing your stretches and watching a least one of your “how to” vids before every session now .... and it’s been helping. So thanks for that. Any way you could do a beginner switch up grind video? I see people doing these switch up grind all over the place and I have know idea where to even start haha. I found switch topsides way easier to stay on because I spin left, but my right foot is the strong foot... but my body position lands perfect for balance with a switch topside, but normal topside i seem to lean too far back and body twists the opposite way causing me to slip out... Great vid! Any tips for the front foot skating flat? I find topsouls are a breeze on coping as your body is angled over the transition. On ledges though you’re positioned more upright, and I find the 3rd wheel of the front foot bites on top of the ledge. To avoid this you need to point your toe toward the ground a bit but then that shifts your weight and angle toward the ground like if you’re on a quarter pipe, but then if the ledge isn’t high enough, You fall to the ground on my hands and chest 😬. Because of this top acid feels way more natural. Any advice?! Thanks love the channel!

    • @cfronin
      @cfronin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On curbs you need to have your front leg as extended and straight as possible. This way you can top soul with any wheel size since there is almost no weight on your front skate. The difficulty is that all you weight is on your topside foot so it makes the trick more difficult. It's specially hard when doing it switch since you can't use your natural foot (the front one in switch) to recover from a bad jump.

      I'll cover spins this coming up week. Till then, I would try to focus on how you are jumping and what your posture looks like during rotation. Try and emphasize a pop from feet straight up to the top of your head. Then synchronize the rotation with the peak of the pop. On landing. Dont look down try and keep your chin up... hope that helps.

    when i tried topsoul stance on flat ledge, I just cant bend the leg to be on frame. I have to get either really low (almost sitting down) to make it happen, but then my balance points are all wrong. Either it is ankle/hips flexibility issue, or my skates (USD AEON 60) frames are so high that no matter how much i bend the wheels are still on the ledge
