Rammstein wrote Mein Teil after one of the band members drew their attention to a newspaper story about Armin Meiwes aka The Rothenberg Cannibal. He had posted an advertisement on a cannibal cafe forum inviting a man aged between 18 and 30 to be slaughtered and eaten. After some men turned up and subsequently declined, a man named Brandes arrived and there's quite an horrific story attached to his visit. His teil was removed and he and Meiwes cooked it and tried to eat it but it was too tough so it was given to Meiwes' dog to eat. Branded was killed eventually and Meiwes went on to eat over 40 kgs of his flesh ( some may have been eaten by Meiwes' mother, played in the video by Christoph Schneider). As far as I'm aware, Meiwes is still in prison but was eligible for parole last year. The video, to me, shows the fractured parts of Meiwes' mind. Brutality, along with fragility, conflict, madness etc. The walk at the end suggests Meiwes' mother's attempt to keep her son under some sort of control. In the point of the Angel and the destruction of childhood innocence, Meiwes admitted during on of the trials that he'd fantasised from the age of eight about eating his classmates. To add to the whole gore factor, the whole Meiwes-Brandes interaction was video recorded and shown to the trial jury. As we sometimes say here in the UK, there's nowt as queer as folk!

Yes, there were two people eating "das Teil", porcelain and wine and candles were involved. The "Making Of" explains the different scenes and band members as representing parts (hehe) of a sick mind, mommy issues included. The Mother (played by the drummer) probably played a role in the perpetrators pathology, but she also keeps all the parts chained together and following society's rules. Armin's breakdown with this whole horrible culmination only happened after his mother's death.
She is Rammsteins drummer who is playing the part of armin meiwes mother. Apparently when they were coming up with ideas for the music video they noticed that Doomie looks an awful lot like the cannibals mother.

Fun fact the Angel is actually going down on him for real. The director Zoran Bihac is absolutely a madlad. When Till is getting slapped in the face its actually Zoran doing that FULL FORCE bc he thought that the Angel Lady just wasnt hitting him hard enough😂 He knocked one of Tills crowns loose 😂 The story itself is based on the case of Armin Meiwes who met up with, killed and ate Bernd Brandes. The wild thing is Brandes WANTED to be eaten, it was actually wild. There is a making of of this music video which is absolutely worth a watch😂 I watched a 2 hour interview with Meiwes and it was actually wild to hear him talk about his whole idea that through eating parts of Brandes they would kinda become one, or Brandes would become part of him. He also makes a joke about Hänsl and Gretl I think 🫣
