If Fifteen to One had the set of an American primetime game show, but the prize budget of an American daytime game show, you'd get Hardball. And I don't mean that as a knock. Ore Oduba was fantastic as host.
There were only 11 disciples at the Last Supper. One stayed home to watch who was going to be the winner on America's Got Talent. I know, because my grandma waitressed at the Last Supper.
There were 11 Apostles at the 'Last Supper,' ... all 12 were present for the 'Passover' ... then he sent out Judas and inaugurated the 'Last Supper' without him.
Part of the reason is because the prize money comes from the licence fee that is paid for by UK taxpayers. And I doubt it would look good if they offered a large amount of money for their quiz shows.
@@lovemykiss9 But game shows are among the least expensive programming to produce. They’re cheaper than scripted series, news broadcasting, talk shows.... They can use some of that money to pay better prizes, especially on shows like this where most people leave with nothing.
Oh boy. On the bonus round, she uses boost to get pass the Hardball. Unfortunately it has this stupid penakty: you lose half of the jackpot. That makes it unfair.
@@drewconway7135 "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" has been in regular syndication for nearly 20 years. "The Weakest Link" also had a decent first run (both in broadcast and syndication) and is now back on NBC. THAT being said... I agree. The bells and whistles are decent, but with no studio audience, this would be a tough sell. I'd assume the prize money would go up dramatically, but I still don't see the audience for it. Maybe pair it with "The Wall" on NBC? We could have a night dedicated to balls?
So much potential here. It’s a good concept. But current format is dull. Game squares should have cash amounts row one $50 $100 $200 $300 row two $1000 $2000 row three $10,000 $15,000 etc The pace of the show needed to significantly increase and an audience for the hype and excitement.
Unfortunately the BBC seems to have a bit of a thing about making the jackpots as small as possible And realistically even if they did have large jackpots, the maximum amount that can be won on the show would likely need to be capped to £100,000 or less, they would probably need to limit the cash builder rounds to something like max £16,660 per player
Could have made it fairer for the contestant by making the square total equal the prize when divided. So if 30 squares and the contestant has made £3000, but only gets 15 then, rather than them leave with NOTNING, They at least get £1500. Or is that too much for the BBC to contemplate, ? best send the contestant home with sweet FA, I guess.
I think I have to agree. It was fine during the competition rounds, but it needed a bigger deal when the jackpot was actually won. It was kind of anticlimactic when she finally reached the end of the track.
Six contestants have to beat or outrun the Hardball. If they outrun the Hardball, they will win big money. If it overtakes them, it is game over. Contestants must get as far as long and come out on top in the game. But have they got what it takes for the money to think big? Ore Oduba hosts.(1 ep19)
Well done Emma! First time I've seen hardball as it doesn't screen where I live. Wouldn't rate it as my favorite game show, the format is not that inventive, there's really not that much happening, and the fact that the small jackpot (compared to other shows) gets halved over and over makes it even less exciting to watch.
I just stumbled upon this video while watching episodes of Pointless. I'd never heard of this show. So, why not give it a try? 2 min in, and I have to say: Mr. Oduba certainly has a flair for the dramatic. It's distracting. *spin to profile to be inquisitive* *spin again for the reveal* I thought he must have a background in musical theatre, so I Googled him. Wut. Straight? Hasn't anyone informed his wife that he's gay? Hahaha. Kidding, of course. Update: i just finished watching the show. Interesting. Good premise, but there are some HUGE drawbacks. 1. Anti-climactic The priize total should never decrease unless there is still a larger, ultimate grand prize available. Who's gonna give a F about watching someone sweat it out for a chance to win a few hundred pounds? 2. Anti-climactic Alao, the final round is exactly the same (in terms of the levels and ball). Use some of that fancy set/lighting budget to create a MEGA BALL BOARD or something similar. At the end, the contestant won but who knew? It was almost as exciting as the magazines in a dental office waiting roo- 💤 😴 💤
In a year the jackpot will be a 50% discount at bed bath and beyond
Applied to the least expensive item in your cart. Some exceptions apply. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offers.
Well done Emma 🎉 dear BBC you should take a look at the Cash prizes in the American version of this shows !!!!
Measly payout for the number of questions the contestants answer
Your not wrong. Waste of time and energy for little gain.
If Fifteen to One had the set of an American primetime game show, but the prize budget of an American daytime game show, you'd get Hardball. And I don't mean that as a knock.
Ore Oduba was fantastic as host.
Fifteen to One and All Together Now are the 2 shows I loved and wish they came back. Gone too soon.
There were only 11 disciples at the Last Supper. One stayed home to watch who was going to be the winner on America's Got Talent. I know, because my grandma waitressed at the Last Supper.
I'm American and I'm addicted to British game shows!!
There were 11 Apostles at the 'Last Supper,' ... all 12 were present for the 'Passover' ... then he sent out Judas and inaugurated the 'Last Supper' without him.
That jackpot is such a big joke lolololll
They really are excessively cheap with their prize money.
That the thing with bbc game show that aren’t pointless eggheads or impossible the ideas are good but the jackpots are tiny
Part of the reason is because the prize money comes from the licence fee that is paid for by UK taxpayers. And I doubt it would look good if they offered a large amount of money for their quiz shows.

I never thought I would see pointless given as an example of good prize money.....
875 Euro pounds = 1062 US dollars
Some of these questions are hard. They should give a 100 pounds per question, in the money maker. That doubles the jackpot, if there's a win.
That's the BBC for you, cheapskates
I am melting at this guy's voice. EMMA
good show but they need a bigger prize
(Sorry,following message is Japanese...)
これ面白い!
時間との戦いのクイズショーだけど、見せ方が良い。
もし日本でも放送されたらクイズのマニアには面白がってくれそう。
でも賞金が少ない気はするな。公共放送だから仕方ないのかな?

I know in America networks will for the most part limit the prize pot. Except millionaire of course...
I like this gameshow
I love the game
Oh boy. On the bonus round, she uses boost to get pass the Hardball. Unfortunately it has this stupid penakty: you lose half of the jackpot. That makes it unfair.
Oh wow.. big deal 875 pounds.. whoopie
Appalling prize money for a gameshow... beating just the 1st game of The Cube gives you £1,000! Hardly worth it or life changing isn’t it!
Well, it's the publicly funded BBC. They don't give away large amounts of money.
oh hush .
If it was funded by ITV the prize money could've been so much higher but we also have to bare in mind this was a daytime game show
Phantom of the Opera was released in 1986.
It’s great game show but they need studio audiences
Dzko They need more prize money. £875?! The BBC is so cheap....
This would be a great game here in the States.
Dzko well, not gonna happen now
Host: "Each contestant will be playing for thousands of pounds"
My American brain: "Pounds of what???" lol
Thousands of pounds of gold of course
Well, £1000 is more than $1000 plus in the UK the prize money isn't taxable
I like this game it reminds me a bit of The Chase. I wonder if this game would go well in the USA.
As an American, I can tell you that it would not. Other than Jeopardy, trivia-based game shows do not do well here.

Contestants are too focused on the track, watching where the hardball is.
In 2024 you'd think more money could be offered by the show
They make this almost possible. Too many rows for the final
WHY DIDN'T THIS SHOW MAKE IT IN THE USA?!!
Because there is no big money to be won. Only suitable for the stingy BBC.
It only lasted 1 series
Not enough intelligent people in the US
Shocker the tarot card couldn't say if he would win or lose. LOL. What a joke.
The win condition for the final round of this game is preposterous.
Gemi-knee??? No one says it like that… surely!!

Should be on ITV. At least then they’d get more than 3 grand.
This looks fun ...never saw it
Me neither
Congratulations Emma for winning
Spoiler
She won that money and they just took it off her
this is actually the uploader's appearance + buzzer is same as house of games
Purple dinosaur with a green belly

I meant almost impossible. And then to take money away. No insentive
Dang that host is 🔥
Should be 500 pounds per correct answer in the cash builder round
Ema brilliant 😮😮
Mecca and Normandy gave me mental anguish. Both times she was right...
Mosque is actually the correct answer. Mecca is pilgrimage place
loved this
Like who are they, AI people? I would be happy to answer like three questions max :D
18:19 its eggs not chickens surely
@Romeo Olivo apparently it can be both so we are both wrong
It's chickens because the eggs haven't hatched yet. That is the point of the saying.

Interesting, but not the most scintillating game show I've seen. A bit cheesy.

British game shows consist of small talk, self deprication, questions and small amounts to win… where’s the shooow

Ore Oduba
Love trivia games. Not this though.
37:00 Harry related question 💚🍉🥝
What a stupid game - absolutely no chance really of winning anything. Not watching this again.
Muslim is a major world religion?
As someone who has participated in, and won this show, I have to say, 'Emma' is a very smug character.
Next week the show will be hosted by Rylan and the jackpot will be a week in Butlins ffs what a shit show and crap prize money 😂
The halving of the jackpot with each boost is really stupid. All this time later and there is hardly any money there. What a joke this game is.
what a load of rubbish
This game is designed not to win a huge amount
is there not anymore episodes to watch? youtube also had Unbeatable but was blocked since i’m not in the UK :,)
