Thanks 😃 That's a bummer, I'm glad the whip survived. You can hook a small rope with a weight or spike underneath the mounting plate to the ground for more stability. If you extend the tripod legs all the way and out with the mounting plate lower to the ground, it's very stable.
I have been using a vertical whip with a transit tripod for about 3 years. That simple set up just got me 200 contacts on 10m’s yesterday from US-2900. Lightweight simple setup just flat out works. 73’s
Thanks, Wes. I think I could do 1:30 if I went into Nascar mode! I was using the sidewalk as camo for the surveyor tripod, lol 😆 😂. It blends right in!
So how did it work? Nice quick set up! Need to look for a used surveyor tripod - that's a good idea. Been eyeing those whips and the 25-footer looks like a beaut.
It works great for the location I have it set up at. A lot better than my rain gutters I was using before! It was nice to be able to hunt POTA from home. Thanks for watching 😃
I don't understand. Most real HOAs will not allow you to put that antenna up, even temporarily if it's going to be visible. I can see deploying that antenna in one's back yard. But not anywhere where the public can see it well. I do like the antenna. I can't use that tripod in New York City's Central Park because it will poke hole in the ground, grass and that would subject me to at $2,500 fine. Same for putting any wire (even thin wire) up on a tree. Nothing is to touch any tree in Central Park.
I agree. If it's not visible or causing interference, the HOA should look the other way. Wow, quite the fines in New York City. You could try the camera tripod to 3/8 adapter. That way, you wouldn't puncture the ground. Im editing a video about it now. Here's a link to the adapter chameleonantenna.com/shop-here/ols/products/cha-tripod-adapter
Nice Video, I have the exact setup and a stiff wind came by and down she went. The whip survived but two stinger were destroyed.
Thanks 😃

Excellent work 👍
It's so simple yet effective. Great for POTA, too. 73
@@W6IWN_Radio Yep it just put another 211 in the log from US-2900 on 10m and 12m today.lol
NINJA 🥷! Great video but I can do it in 1:42 😂. Oh and for the front walkway, I know a guy 😉🤣🤣🤣. Talk soon Brother. 🤙🏻🍻
Thanks, Wes.

What model is the DeWalt tripod?
@Coyotes_Locos I'm using this Dewalt tripod amzn.to/3BX9TKm
with the CHA Surveyors Adapter.
Better watch out for the neighborhood Karen! lol Cool setup Bobby!
Thanks! I try and keep it mellow.
I use my raingutter for an antenna when I really want to be stealthy.
