i have this exact variant (and color!) and I must say, no regrets and I'm growing to love it even more the more we use it. I bought itnas a family car and I was willing to pay for the extra over the S variant because I don't really do much customization and prefer to use just the stock with some accessories so the upgrade in details made sense for me. The power and fuel efficiency is amazing. We've driven it in those steep bumpy side roads in tagaytay with full capacity (7 medium to heavy adults) and it was no problem. The size is perfect for both experienced and new drivers. Unpopular but I also love that it still has the traditional hand break over the electronic one. I was ok with not having honda sensing since my brother wasn't keen on using it and I'm a newbie driver so I prefer to get familiar with a more simple set-up. Lastly, it's a honda- reliable and has a high resale value in case you decide to let go of it in the future. The look of the car is also very neat and classy, it won't look dated even after many years. Ofcourse taste is subjective, but this one just ticks all the boxes. I'm no car enthusiast, this is the first car I've purchased and no buyer remorse at all. A very happy amd satisfied owner here!

Bought the S variant and been using it for about 2 months now. At the time I bought the car, I didn’t see the value to add much more money for the higher variants and so far I feel like I made the right choice.
The car is great. Power is great for a car of its segment. But definitely you can feel the difference when the car’s loaded and when I am driving alone. I feel like the car while is a 7 seater, optimal for a family of 4-5 only.
Fuel efficiency is great too. Apple carplay is pretty clunky at times, but generally is responsive. Only wish they made the apple carplay work wirelessly.
Ground clearance is superb. I have a pretty high elevation garage but the car breezes through it.
Exterior, I feel like the car’s decent on its own. Design is super simple, but for sure is an upgrade from its predecessor’s old look.
All in all I think if you are looking to buy a car within this segment, just go and buy the S variant unless you’re really into the Honda sensing. The S variant is a bang for your buck.

Sorry... Jack is right, the back is too simple. It's out of sync with the styling of the rest of the car and even a simple chrome strip (which would be 'in style' with the front) would help. Failing that... I'd invest in some after market chrome tail light surrounds.

Caco has been complaining being in the driver seat of the new brv since that media drive to baguio. Something to take note of. Masyado mabait si Caco sa review kahit disappointing for that price ang naging impression nya. Honda is a Honda na lang siguro panlaban ng brv kung ganon which is madalas din na sagot ng owners pag tinanong bakt pipiliin ang brv over others in the same class.

  • @MiggyMndza
    @MiggyMndza ปีที่แล้ว +27

This review is as precise as it could be. Love the bit where Caco emphasized that even with the BRV's "class-leading" power, it STILL would feel any added weight into the vehicle unlike some people would say otherwise due to its "highest HP and torque". As also observed when I got to drive one in the exact same variant, NVH levels weren't also noteworthy and so is comfort. Not to say it is a bad choice, far from it given that this is still a Honda and you can never go wrong with one especially with the balanced styling and sufficient interior space & tech, tho not as sensible as other subcompact MPVs.
So really, just go straight to the S CVT variant if you really want the BRV given none of the higher variants are more refined nor comfortable unless you have almost 1.4M to go for the adaptive cruise control equipped VX.

XL7 is way more practical than this for cargo and people in the 3rd row. You dont have to deal with that flimsy shelf if you have to load something heavy on a flat surface and you get not only more cargo space but more space for people in the 3rd row despite it being a shorter car.

Its not meant to win drag races or win a hill climb, its a family MPV for crying out loud. I get the BRV has the fastest motor in the class, but what does that amount to? If they want to attract younger people with families then they need to restyle it.

Inflation has turned once great value honda family cars to luxury ones and that will make it not sell as good as competitors. The avanza/veloz/rush/ertiga/xpander will be more sought after due to lower overall cost, not even its honda name can save the br-v and it might just sell slightly above the hr-v. Many people hold 1million pesos as a threshold, some can go slightly to 1.1m but anything higher than that is rich people range only, upper mid class and middle class are very thrift that they will even buy chinese brands to save a few hundred thou. If honda wants to get larger market share of the Pinoy MPV class, they should offer a sub 1m 7 seater with decent comfort features, again chinese brands are offering top of the line specs for mid class price. The new BR-V is a great just just badly priced. I'm a Honda CR-V super fan but if I am to buy a family mpv in 2023, i would opt for the Toyota Rush.

This is Honda's answer to those Chinese crossovers and those who think the CR-V is getting too expensive. It's boring as f and it looks like it's from 10 years ago to be honest, but i guess you trade features and brightwork for Honda reliability. I think this is good for school service duties for your kids.

It's Daytime Running Lights (DRL) po ata iyon, and naka-configure na talagang laging naka-bukas yun kasi it's for safety purposes na mas madaling makikita ng iba yung vehicle even in broad daylight. Pwede lang siya ma-off kapag naka-parking gear yung sasakyan at i-toggle off yung switch, pero once na mag-shift gear ka, it will turn on once again.

Honda is such a great brand but their models just look so basic imo. Only the city and civic do I find aesthetically pleasing among their cars. Their other models like brv, crv, hrv looks like 3 different sizes of the same car. But regardless of their looks in every other aspect honda is the best out there. Their such a great car manufacturer I just hope they get a bit more creative with their designs like mitsubishi and hyundai.

I don't know if it's a valid enough reason but I'm leaning towards this over the xpander mainly because I feel a cvt would be more economical vs a 4 speed automatic. Also the xpander exterior is ugly as hell despite having a much better interior layout in terms of space and storage compared the honda.

That "more premium-looking" interior of the other MPVs are exactly as you've said it: limited to "just by the looks." In reality, going inside, the BR-V is actually even more premium-feeling than a Veloz or Xpander or Stargazer. We know it because we own one.
And sure enough, the "premium-ness" amplifies further as you drive the vehicle, wherein the BR-V is by far the best in its class in terms of engine performance, both power and speed, and as well as its very light steering feel that wouldn't make you anything tired at all even for long drives.
I have driven my uncle's 2019 Xpander, which is essentially nothing different inside from the 2023 Xpander, and by driving for almost 12 hours straight, going from Makati to Infanta Quezon back and forth, my body felt achy as we went home and relax. The suspension is also disappointing as well, because we could literally feel the deep bumps on the road when driving the Xpander, unlike our BR-V VX that absorbs them very effectively. I've also driven our BR-V for quite a while already, and my body never felt anything tired or ached as I've experienced with my uncle's Xpander. Now that goes to show the difference between the two in terms of comfort.
You know, it is easy to be fooled by the idea that a car is cheap-looking inside by just looking at the pictures, and as I was looking at the pics of the interior of our BR-V, I could certainly say that those pictures don't do justice to the vehicle itself, which is totally very premium-feeling in person.
Granted, I've also already tried going inside a Toyota Veloz, which is considered to be a more premium-looking car in its interior than the BR-V, but in reality, it didn't really feel that way at all. Not in the bad way that the Veloz is cheap-feeling, rather, it is the fact that those who are saying that the BR-V looks cheap inside are definitely those that have never really seen or even tried going inside one in person.
Of course, design is still subjective, but just to negate other people's negative feedback about the BR-V's interior, our family is having a lot of fun and is very comfortable in riding our vehicle, contrary to whatever other people are trying to say that it is uncomfortable and cheap inside.
