Been a fan since Remission came out. I.... am one of those people that would watch a 10 hour in depth vid about all their albums lol. Great vid thanks for covering them!
I saw Mastodon a few times in the early 2ks, once at a house show and another time at a small bar and another at a smaller venue used for local shows. The next time i saw them was them opening for Slayer in an arena. Always been super stoked for their success cause they worked like beasts getting their name out in the world, also helps that they write killer music.
@@norseman3514 seen em on the Ashes of Leviathan Tour... fucking A they gave a performance that could rival the original Leviathan Tour! Probably not but it still was insane. Ended up smoking weed with Brent Hinds at bar after the show in Portland. A trip he was haha.
Mastodon is one of my favourite bands of all time. It’s actually crazy how great and consistent their discography is. Thank you for a great documentary!! Mastodon rules🤘🏻
Thanks for this! Been a fan since Leviathan dropped. Mastodon is an awesome live band, their early showings in Europe on the Unholy Alliance tour with Slayer and Slipknot was just stunning. And since then they've just grown creatively. Hands down the best metal band over the last two decades.
Great video... as a "star wars nerd" I must point out that the symbol that's on boba fetts armor (where Bill got his tattoo idea from) is a Mythosaur skull, not a bantha. Brent just thought it looked like a mammoth/mastodon.
Why is a Mythosaur often to referred to as a Bantha skull? There is a reference here to this and on some forums. www.bobafettfanclub.com/fettpedia/mythosaur/
I remember when i saw them they opened up for primus at avila beach in '18. I had no idea who they were prior but started to go through their catalog and was hooked. When i saw them live they rocked it and had a great stage presence! My favorite song is steambreather my dads is toe to toes.
I remember when I first heard leviathan and it just blew my mind since I had never heard music with that much distortion and vocals that sounded like a sea monster
Well done sir…! I have been a Mastodon fan since their conception..I have seen them many times on various records ..The best experience is on mushrooms.. and an energy drink ,like trippin’ balls mushrooms..the live show every time is a new experience…I’m super stoked to hear you have achieved Legendary status…it’s Well deserved..keep up the amazing work..be true to each other.. and please continue making music for US .. Fan for Life ..!
Great job handling a pretty deep subject. I was living in Atlanta when I first saw them at the Star Bar in 2002 with some friends. We saw a lot of great bands at that place but we just felt Mastodon was destined for something much bigger. Aside from the music, their work ethic and their personalities (they're very nice, pretty humble guys) have helped make them much much more than that band at the Star Bar. Troy's brother Kyle has done some pretty cool things musically and his other brother Darren has been their tech for ages. Great band, great people.
How did these 4 geniuses happen to become a band? It's like the Beatles of metal. I saw them live and they played 3 albums complete back to back, album perfect, live.
love this band.. I saw them with Clutch many many years ago. Iput them up there with Ocean (collective) as my favorites with Sleep. Thanks for this great review.
back in 2007, Mastodon was touring with Tool. I was working as a stagehand, back then and was assigned 'show crew' for the event. they blew me away! to this day, one of the best live-shows I've had the good fortune of experiencing! I still have a few of the leftover string-sets from their show. 😁
Huge Mastadon fan here,,..saw Zappa,in 1980,..these guys are who I connect with,....big time..........,,,,,,,tnx for this post.pat & family..land o' lakes,wi.
10/10 would watch a bio on the background of all the Mastadon albums. Additionally if you’re in the mood to do a clutch story. Would also enjoy that. lol
I discovered Mastodon at 13 on vacation. I was in Six Flags over Georgia and this dude had a Mastodon hat on. I later went to a record store and picked up Remission. Have been a major fan since.
It's not like the Millennium bug that "nothing happened". Considerable resources were spent on patching systems and in several cases it didn't help. I recommend a factual article on this subject that can be found under the title: LGR Tech Tales - Y2K: The Year 2000 Problem
I don't think metal heads appreciate conan and his getting Metal music to the masses during the early 2000's, I remember seeing SOAD playing spiders from their 1st album on that show. which was well before they were known like they are today, slipknot was on the show after thir first album I believe, and I know there were many many more...
Awesome . Still in my top 5. I get my brutality fix other places but these guys are just pure musicians . I met Brent Hinds at a fiend without a face show last year, guy’s a class act and he put on a great show.
Hey Man i asked few months ago if you can do something on Prodigy i understand they not a band but maybe you can ask peeps if they would like that? To see a documentary? I just feel people would like it because so many metal heads also listen to them. ❤ love your channel
Flamings arrows by 💯 s!!! Clutch... Beware the megalodon approaches... Man the harpoon! Fling burning oil at it! Full ahead flank! Mastadon. Melvins are the best Seattle band, Kurt's mentor at guitar... Thx for covering these bands.
I saw them live on their Leviathan tour in Philly. They opened up with Hearts Alive with the ocean sound effects and everything. I had some of the best times in the pit during that show.. I somehow had enough energy to run a mile in gym class the next morning
Gen X here. Going to be late for church listening to this! I missed about 20+ years of music raising kids and attempting to have a career. My son gave me a CD mix of metal. Mastodon stood out. Been a fan ever since.
Hung out with Dirty B. Hinds when he was in fiend without a face (maybe 4 hour fogger) before Mastodon. He was kind of hanging out with his friends Super X-13 doing the roadie thing. We ate acid. It was wild.
I saw Mastodon at the Gods of Metal in 2009 (I think) and the concert was ruined by the sound check of the stage next to it! Yes, somebody had the brilliant idea to build a stage next to each other so that when one band was playing the next stage was getting ready for the following band,, too bad they did the sound check while the band next stage was still playing! Also, if you were staying in front of one stage you would have completely miss the band playing next, as you simply wouldn't be able to see what was happening in the stage next to it. Imagine a concert in a stadium. Usually the stage is facing the field towards the end, lets say "vertically", these stages where on the side of the filed, lets say "horizontally". What a disaster!
been a fan since remission... and I like almost all albums of their career, am I alone in this? cause I feel other than that t here are two other parts of the fangroups, those that prefer everything up to crack the skye and those that prefer after. to be quite honest, I think Hunter, OMRTS and emperor I do not like as much as hushed and grim and the early phase but they also have plenty cool songs on there, I just feel as albums they lose my interest quicker. any way, Mastodon are one of a kind, really diverse, never afraid to try something new, but somehow always themselves. great job on this documentary!
Only time I've ever seen Mastodon was in a rinky dink little club in Cardiff,Wales in 2005.I remember thinking wtf are they doing here?!Not long after, they were up and running...
Just to let you know by ‘our boys’ you had better mean our men and women in uniform at home and abroad or we’re gonna have issues buddy. Edit: English is not my first language.
Wtf TH-cam- had to watch after live because... guess I don't fit the algorithm 😂. Never stop what you do 🤘🖤 I'm still here in spite of the keyboard wannabe warriors 😢
Been a fan since Remission came out. I.... am one of those people that would watch a 10 hour in depth vid about all their albums lol. Great vid thanks for covering them!
I'm with you. I find myself watching their "making of" videos over and over.
I would also be one of those fans that would watch a 10-hour breakdown of the band and weird side stuff about them.
YOURE THE MAN, IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
Myself as well!!
Dude sucks mad ass & is wrong all the time
Now we need a Clutch documentary!!
Damn right, awesome band.
CLUTCH! Transnational Speedway was a game-changing album for hardcore & rock in general
I saw Mastodon a few times in the early 2ks, once at a house show and another time at a small bar and another at a smaller venue used for local shows. The next time i saw them was them opening for Slayer in an arena. absolute legend mate, they are good beyond words and heavy as an anvil.

Mastodon is one of best and genuine great metal bands. Crack The Skye is my favorite album. 🔥
I would TOTALLY watch a 10 hour epic about them lol. The Emperor Of Sand doc they did was fantastic.
I think one day I will do a deep dive into EVERY record in one video. They are such an interesting band!
Great video... as a "star wars nerd" I must point out that the symbol that's on boba fetts armor (where Bill got his tattoo idea from) is a Mythosaur skull, not a bantha. Brent just thought it looked like a mammoth/mastodon.

Amazing Documentary. I think it‘s super interesting to know where all the Influences came from. Well done!
Mate.....this is a super well researched and edited video. Zero spastic youtube editing too. Thanks so much.
Red, the Lamb, and Close to the Edge playing at your house as a kid? Damn no wonder he's so good.
I remember when i saw them they opened up for primus at avila beach in '18. I had no idea who they were prior but started to go through their catalog and was hooked. When i saw them live they rocked it and had a great stage presence! My favorite song is steambreather my dads is toe to toes.
Perfect, loved the high on fire segment 🤘🤘
Oh my god I woke up and saw this, made me so happy
I remember when I first heard leviathan and it just blew my mind since I had never heard music with that much distortion and vocals that sounded like a sea monster

Great video dude. I enjoyed it and am a big fan of the band.

Regular watcher’s… Damn you make me feel like the middle-aged dude I am… “Consume Raw Music for healthy regularity”… Kick ass doc a usual
Great documentary! I lived in a small country, so watched this guys along with Gojira last year was pure 🔥🔥
This was unexpected but very much needed
I second IRON MAIDEN. I guess I really just want the history of Eddie the rest would be a bonus
10/10 would watch a bio on the background of all the Mastadon albums.
Additionally if you’re in the mood to do a clutch story. Would also enjoy that. lol

That's wild because I literally saw someone wearing a remission shirt when I was 11 at six flags in Massachusetts and did the same thing wtf 😂
Not one of my fav band but love the videos u do can't wait 4 da next one ur doing a fantastic job🤘🔥
I’m more than happy to take the 10 hour version!! 🤘🏻🇦🇺🤘🏻
Don’t know much about this band stoked to watch.
Mastodon is fantastic. Absolutely love them. Saw them last summer with Gorjira. Such an excellent band.
Sounds like we all owe a debt of gratitude to Brann's parents for his proper upbringing.
Really good info on one of my favourite metal bands! Did not know about the elements thing about the albums
Fuck yeah! Hey I'm just saying I would watch a 10 hour Mastodon video! Thank you!
Troy Sanders was also in a band called Knuckle. Brent was in Four Hour Fogger too.
Great trailer, I’ll be patiently waiting for the 10 hour video to drop 😂
I discovered them when they were opening for Iron Maiden during their Once More 'round The Sun Tour and became a big fan since then!

love this channel.
i was surprised that the two guys from „in the eyes of god“ by today is the day, formed a formidable band.
Seen Mastodon 5x and counting 🤘🤘 Very humble and nice Dudes 🐳🐋🐳

Thanks for the Clutch reference, never heard before. It's like a metal Frank Zappa...
This could well be an hour episode and it'll still be informative.
My faves. I've seen them 3 times. The last was ashles of leviathon at moda center in Portland. They brought it, for sure.
Nice side mission on Clutch. Bruh do a Clutch video 🙏 First time i heard of Mastodon was cause they were opening for Clutch early/mid 2000s.
I love the Leviathan record. And I saw them at Ozzfest 2005. They were the best band on stage 2. Lamb of God next? Please!
I saw them live on their Leviathan tour in Philly. They opened up with Hearts Alive with the ocean sound effects and everything. I had some of the best times in the pit during that show.. I somehow had enough energy to run a mile in gym class the next morning
Gojira should be next!
Saw them years ago they were amazing 💯
Yes, saw them with Clutch in the 2000’s BAD ASS ROCKERS! Show yourself 😈
Leviathan is a masterpiece, still in my daily Playlist 🤘🏽
I'll be honest... The music of Mastodon has never been my cup of tea. But after this documentary, I think I should give it another try. 🤔
every album is a diff mood

Great band, just like Killing Joke, they really haven't put out a bad album. Oh SHIT, do Killing Joke next! =)

Yo please do one about iron maiden next 🙏
do Opeth!!!
Clutch and mastodon need to tour again
Id watch an album by album breakdown for sure.
You’re wrong. I definitely want a 10 hour long video about Mastodon’s albums.
Digging Garth Marenghi's new look
PLEASEEE do a video about clutch
Just to let you know i'd love to watch a 10 hour documentary about our boys.
Just to let you know by ‘our boys’ you had better mean our men and women in uniform at home and abroad or we’re gonna have issues buddy.
Edit: English is not my first language.
They're a great studio band. It's a shame that can't sing their songs live. Awesome songs though!
Their previous bands all sound great.
yay
Thank God they didn't name the band 'fishy joe and the pickles'
🤘 ❤🤘
Would 100 percent watch a 10 hour video on this subject. Haha.
Wtf TH-cam- had to watch after live because... guess I don't fit the algorithm 😂. Never stop what you do 🤘🖤 I'm still here in spite of the keyboard wannabe warriors 😢
Opeth Please.
