As a new Skeeter owner I love my FXR21. Phoenix is a great looking boat but I’ve always admired the Skeeter. The SHO is a beast of an engine. Owned a Ranger before this and have not looked back.
Great video, own a Phoenix but a huge fan of both brands! Draft and Dead Rise are two important features you should also consider when purchasing a bass boat. This will dictate rough water ride and shallow water fishing.
I owned a 2013 Skeeter FX20. I was in the market for a new boat and was seriously considering a Phoenix. The problem I had with the Phoenix was the lack of leg room in the console area. I was concerned that if I got in rough water, I would be banging my shins on the underside of the console. Otherwise they appeared to be nice boats, but that was a deal breaker for me. I ended up buying a Skeeter FXR20 and so far I have been happy with it.
I have owned both and a Vexus. I now own a Phoenix. Unlimited color combos. Electronics of your choice. Power of your choice. Arguably a better built boat that doesn’t porpoise at lower speeds. Best customer service as well. Oh, and priced slightly less than a comparable Skeeter.
Excellent job! Under warranty would have liked to see the items limited to "One Year". These items typically draw the complaints. Great job on taking the time to break these boats down!
You should have mentioned how each boat rides. From someone who has first hand knowledge on both Skeeter and Phoenix there’s NO Comparison…The Phoenix bass boat is the smoothest and most comfortable ride. If you want performance and best ride choose Phoenix!!
Skeeter whole boat package is better priced . Phoenix boats just don't have the same package deal and their overall cost on the boat is higher as well. Skeeter for the win.
Yup… had both skeeter and phx. One was a rough ride and the other speared waves. Got tired of being beat to death while being wet. Decided to lower the budget and try the Z21xl. Best decision i ever made. Your 520R is another one of those better boats
@Venandii77 never liked Ranger boats until the 520R, and it is on the same level of rough water ride as my Charger boats, if not better. But on complaint is the small rod box.
I had a Nitro Z19 Pro. I loved it until I started fishing big water ( Great Lakes), not enough boat huge storage. Draft was high and could get shallow great for Arkansas River, skinny water, and sucked fishing in the wind.
@@craigtriacca3967 it’s not all that. You buy a kayak it gets boring and you want something else. You buy that and that also gets boring and time to buy another toy
I like Skeeter but I here they porpuse at low speeds. I here one has to get above 4000rpms for it to quit bouncing. Is this true?? I don't know how to spell the word porpuse.I just guess.
I run a skeeter fx21. I run at low speeds and would say if you aren't trimmed up it'll run smooth. I'm not sure if some others have issues but if you know how to run a boat it doesn't porpoise. I had ranger and skeeter boats and will most likely never go ranger again.
I have a 2021 FXR that does not porpuse at low speeds. Skeeter boats definitely has a reputation for that but if you keep the boat loaded heavier in the front and keep the motor trimmed down at low speeds it will not be an issue whatsoever.
Brands are like sneakers... one day, Nikki is the best until they have you hooked and then quality gose down hill... this happens to every brand, whatever the product... next week, it will be nitro

Skeeter owner here. Love my bug but also really like the Phoenix. Can't go wrong with either
Well said! Thanks for watching, Ryan.

Never heard of Draft or Dead Rise

This I needed to hear. Thank you.
Really like the consoles on the skeeters, lots of cool features! Having said that... I run a phoenix
You killed it Andy been looking at skeeters and Phoenix Phoenix just seems to be built w a more solid look

Did you own aluminum or glass? If glass what was the reason why you switched? I’m interested in the vxs20. Thanks.

That's a great point. Thanks for the kind words!
Love my basscat
I just bought a new basscat cougar 2025 .getting it rigged and hopefully going out next weekend
Phoenix easy winner. Better ride, more speed, better handling, and just a better looking boat
both not well made and have quality issues though
As a old skeeter owner ur correct just bought a basscat cougar ftd 2025 model
@@Evilbiscuit66 cannot do better than a basscat!
Lay off the crack buddy

Skeeter hands down
Wow! Blow away with the presentation knowledge and amount of information. Excellent work! Thank you very much for the deep dive and comparison.
Christian, thank you so much!! We really appreciate your kind words and for checking out the channel!
Nice video. But if you cover all bass boats. What boat under 20ft is the smoothest ride for a disabled person
Skeeter whole boat package is better priced . Phoenix boats just don't have the same package deal and their overall cost on the boat is higher as well. Skeeter for the win.
I’ll take Bass Cat over either one
Love my RANGER 520R

Phoenix all day no other boat comes close!!!
Who cares. Can’t afford either one of them.
I can. I care 😂😛
I just bought a new one. 300 on the back
Must be nice

CHAMPION
basscat and ikon at the top of the quality market-- these 2 are second tier
Can’t get a Yamaha on a Basscat.
@@itszach6808 sure you can and a suzuki or honda also

@@Youngmechanical I second this
Both great boats with crappy trailers. Expect to make many repairs to the trailers. BassCat is the best overall “affordable” boat on the market.
the profit margins on these are beyond ridiculou.. the consumer ultimately loses in this battle.
BassCat
I'm between bass cat, vexus, or ikon when I upgrade in 2 years. i wish ikon would give more customization options

Had both. Skeeter is a rough ride and phoenix spear waves.
I think icon is better than either of these 2 and bascat
Out of the two it would be the Phoenix but for ride Comfort ride security and speed neither one could never come close to a Bass Cat or ballistic
a phoenix is 100% better than a bass cat in rough water.
@@alecbarrett3607what are you smoking?
Bass Cat.
Got a skeeter it's junk
LUND !!!!!
The best boat is a Ballistic
Basscat or ikon
Falcon kills both these mass producted boats..
iKon better
BASS CAT 😂 PERIOD
