Swamp Sounds - What's Making all that Noise!
This inquiry video explores life (and sounds) of the swamp. The video is suitable for exploring Ontario Ministry of Education expectations.
Suitable for Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, as well as, Pre-school, Forest School and Homeschoolers. This video urges students to investigate ideas of life in a natural setting through observation and listening to sound.
For teachers, parents and adults:
This video follows an inquiry model. It is designed to encourage young students to be curious, ask questions and investigate the subject of life in the swamp. We ask questions and urge students (with your support) to find answers.
Your role is to encourage the curiosity by guiding young learner's questions (rather than just providing answers.)
Prompts you can ask:
"What birds, insects, animals, fish do you think are making the noises?"
"Draw some of the birds, insects, animals, fish you can hear."
"Write/Tell a story about the noises at the swamp."
"Create a new creature that might live in the swamp... tell me the story."
