  • This inquiry video explores small animals, habitats and problem solving.
Suitable for Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4, as well as, Forest School, Pre-school, and Homeschoolers.
This video urges students to investigate ideas of animals, habitats and ecology while using language to communicate ideas.
    For teachers, parents and adults:
This video follows an inquiry model. It is designed to encourage young students to be curious, ask questions and investigate the ideas of habitats, building and adapting through investigation.
I ask questions and urge students (with your support) to find answers. Your role is to encourage the curiosity by guiding young learners' questions (rather than just providing answers.)
Extensions and prompts you can ask:
"What do you notice? Describe the small brid."
"What is the big, flightless bird in the video?"
    “What are the birds doing?”
"If the brid has wings, why doesn't it fly?"
    "Where does the animal live?"
    "Where does the animal sleep?"
“Did this bird descend from a dinosaur? Why?”
“Draw a picture and/or write some words describing the animal's life and habitat.”
